Just fruit and salad? It's not a balanced diet. It's not healthy. You also need protein, and you need a little bit of fat, and you need starch. Of course you can make healthy or unhealthy choices about where you get your fat and starch and protein. But unless you're a rabbit, just eating fruit and salad isn't healthy. Have…

Measured myself today. 39, 28, 40. They don't come more Hour Glass than that! Wow! :blushing: PS (didn't measure myself right at the start but) these are down from 40something, something a lot more than 30, high forty something.

loads of recipes here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/search?keywords=aubergine&x=0&y=0 And there's the classic Turkish aubergine dish Imam Bayildi: http://www.petersommer.com/turkey-travel-country/turkish-food-cuisine/imam-bayildi-turkish-aubergine-eggplant/

I make a risotto with smoked mackerel - really really yummy! Just cook the risotto rice as usual, You can add peas, stir in the smoked mackerel at the end and heat through - needs no flavourings as the mackerel is strong and salty. Really hearty cold weather food. Mmmm.

Just because they've not said anything doesn't mean they haven't noticed. They might just not feel comfortable commenting, Some people take offence when people comment on their weight loss. I'm always very cautious about commenting on other people's weight loss even though I'm delighted if someone comments on mine. I…

no, there's teasing and there's just sheer spiteful wounding. Teasing is affectionate, not malicious. This was just plain cruel and unnecessary.

She sounds like a malicious lady-dog. And if she isn't but was trying to be funny, she misjudged it hugely. How would she like it if you poked her in the face repeatedly saying "rude....rude.....rude" with each poke! Keep her at arms length if you can, stick with your mum and your friends for the dress and stuff so that…

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Ccccold!

I agree with everyone above - I've lost 3 stone in just over a year, and I don't do any kind of exercise regime! I've done it purely by counting calories, and carefully weighing and measuring my food to keep it under control. I do keep active of course, I'll walk into town and back, instead of taking the bus and walk at…

Do we? I didn't know. In the UK we use plain ordinary calories but food labels carry both values. I've no idea what a kcal is just that if I'm in a hurry and don't read the label properly I scare myself witless sometimes.

There are a couple of UK groups - this is the biggest one http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/150-team-uk  I'm in Hull.

Will probably have a big bowl of Moroccan Chick Pea soup with some nice garlic bread - spicy, filling, warming and not too high cal

We don't have garbagemen in the UK. We have bin-men. And I don't think anybody tips them - ours come at the crack of dawn anyway.
-
Wonderful! What a great feeling - you must be thrilled! Enjoy! All your hard work is paying off!
-
Wow! I think you're an inspiration! And you look brilliant, look at your cheeky chin and your cheekbones now! Just gorgeous! And your story about how you did it is as good a how-to guide as I've ever seen, you kept is simple, manageable, and you were able to stick with it and keep going - that's because of your attitude…

Same as you! About 11lbs to go! And it's clinging on for dear life! Feels like I'm losing a couple of pounds a month at the moment. I was hoping it would have gone by Christmas, but it's not wanting to shift. So by all means add me - we can have a race
-
I made my own mincemeat this year, so will be making mince pies in a week or two. Drooling in anticipation!
-
It's literal - stones used to be used to weigh things for trade http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_%28Imperial_mass%29
-
LOL but I'll still buy a pound of apples! And I'll measure fluids for cooking in mls rather than fluid oz, but order pints and half pints in the pub! I drive miles but measure meters and centimeters of fabric or paper.
-
A stone is 14lbs. Brits of my generation have been brought up between imperial and metric measurements, so I weigh my food in grams but myself in stones and pounds. ed: So a stone and a half is one stone seven.
-
I think my figure looks younger definitely - I've lost nearly 3 stone, and look much less matronly now! And I feel a lot fitter, and more youthful. So my face probably looks younger because I have a bigger smile.
-
Have some sympathy for us poor Brits! No turkey dinner for us today. No cake overload. We have to wait till Christmas. (I did have a mince pie today though  )
-
I LOVE fish and chips! I have them from time to time. Takeaways aren't evil! But they are a treat not a staple. And they're only a problem if you don't watch the calories - I save them for days when I've burned lots of calories or eaten very little else so that I know they're within my calorie allowance. And I'll share…

Hahaha - good for you! And the best bit? Skinny and gorgeous she might have been, but you cruised past her! Hahaha. Just curious - what hills????????
-
I eat a lot of the same sort of thing regularly so sort of know - I tend to eat smaller calorie meals for breakfast and lunch and save my calories for a bigger evening meal. It's a pattern, really, rather than a plan. But it works, I can choose to treat myself during the day and then plan a lower calorie meal in the…

Take your measurements - and try to resist the temptation to weigh!
-
See my ticker  Just over 2½ stone, nearly 2 dress sizes. I don't exercise regularly, and then it's things like walking, gardening, swimming. This Christmas I'll do more to pay for the excess. Works for me. ETA I think it's important to do what works for you and what you'll manage to keep up. I'll never keep up an…
