Yes unfortunately I will have to eat much less than I do now. I checked out my goal weight TDEE and I think it would be around 1800 - 1900 Calories.
-
I don’t imagine that the off weeks would be unhealthier than the on weeks.

Thank you to those who have responded.

I have a TDEE of about 2,500 Calories, but I need to lose a lot of weight. The idea of having diet breaks appeals to me as I would otherwise need to restrict my diet for over a year if I lost two pound (1kg) per week.

The Mediterranean diet seems pretty good. There are plenty of studies to show that it is healthy, and it seems like an easy way to eat. Personally I try to follow the total wellbeing diet. It's a way of eating that is based on studies and developed by scientists. So whole foods, plenty of veggies, pulses, fruits, lean…

What are your usual sports and exercise?

Vivofit. One year battery. Waterproof. Can add a HRM. Move reminder. Lacks GPS, but there is an app called Garmin Fit to cover that.

Walking, recumbent exercise bike, rowing machine, dragon boat paddling, yoga, body weight exercises, and resistance bands/weights. Now it's mainly cycling and walking/hiking. I also row on the water and do some weights.

Garmin Vivofit 2 - Pros - waterproof, one year battery, can attach HRM, synchs with MFP, reminder to move. Cons - no stairs counted, doesn't pick up cadence/speed sensor from bike.
-
Great idea, and something I would like to do! I currently have a road bike on a trainer, but recumbent bikes are more conducive to watching tv or reading.

A recumbent exercise bike was my starter when I was morbidly obese. If you can track your heart rate you can check the intensity of your workout for you. I found it was the safest way to workout and easy to control. I even did plenty of high intensity workouts, so burned plenty of calories and got very fit.

Cherries! It's cherry season here.

To add calories you'll need to use the desktop version of GC. The activities you've added can be edited in GC. A silly question, but are GC and MFP connected so you're also seeing daily steps in MFP?

I found that a recumbent exercise bike was good for my feet (plantar fasciitis) and was comfortable around my stomach. You can definitely challenge yourself on a recumbent bike, and I even did some interval training without fear of hurting my knees. The elliptical was also very good, but I had to focus on keeping my feet…

I started rowing as an adult in 2004.

I fit into the sport seats in my car!

Keep doing what you're doing.

Polar M400. DC Rianmaker has reviewed this product.

Lots of good advice already, but I'll add my two cents worth as I love rowing. My workout (at a masters rowing club): Damper 4 Stroke rate 20-24 with some sprints for variety 6km 2:30 or less split (which leads to just under 30 minutes) - this is where you can push harder to get your heart rate up Push with the legs, fast…

The places I row are about 40 km / 25 miles away, but the traffic is light early in the morning so it's quite a relaxed drive.

Wise words. I look forward to taking the training wheels off one day. I've been logging for over 500 days and lost half of what I would like to lose. You covered it all really. Something I've learned is that exercise is the key for me. I try to exercise about 3,500 Calories per week, and make the exercise easy to do. I…

Congratulations! It looks like a beauty!!

I'm in SA.

I'm about half way through losing what you would like to lose. First I started by cutting out added sugar for about a month. Second I tried to walk a bit more (30 minutes each day) and tracked it with Runtastic. After getting those simple things happening I then started counting calories and following a sensible diet. Feel…

I tried boxing training at the local boxing gym and loved it. It's much more fun than going to a gym with the usual machines.
-
I used the FT4 with the HRM included with it. I burned 500 Calories after 75 minutes of swimming laps.

I'm pretty happy with the endurance bike I got a few weeks ago. It has wider tyres (28mm), can take fenders and a rack, and is a bit more 'relaxed'. It has disc brakes, so as an all-round bike I think it's pretty good.
