Just thought I'd say hi as I love rowing! I'm trying to get back on the water. If I do an ergo I burn about 100 calories/10 minutes. I hope it helps. Happy to connect too! I've been dragon boating which is mostly sprinting and that burns about 500 calories/hour.

I rode 120 km in the first three months of this year. I hope to ride 80km in April. So far, about 25km done!

Similar story. An older friend of mine who was fit enough to play squash with me 20 years ago got to the point of needing both hips replaced. She became practically house bound. She has since had most of her stomach removed. I didn't want to become disabled. I've lost 30kg through diet and exercise and I'm much more active…

I've had a Vivofit since July 2014 and I think it's very helpful for encouraging healthy habits like getting 10,000 steps/day and breaking up sitting time.

So far, 30 minutes walking the dogs. Probably more walking of dogs or a bike ride later.

If you would like heart rate while swimming you could look at the Polar A300 or V800. The Garmins are waterproof, but no heart rate under water.

Vivofit.

I had PF for a few years. Dragon boat paddling was my outlet.

I paddle in a dragon boat. Go for it!

Nice work! I've been to the Lake District (in 2011) and there are some very steep walks!! My NSV relates to walking too. I went for bushwalks on Friday and Saturday. Two things are NSVs. The first is that my boots fit, and the second is that I felt really good as I did not have to stop to catch my breath and my balance is…

My balance has improved! I thought that I couldn't balance on one leg due to ageing, but 28kg lost and my balance is so much better. It means I can enjoy bush walking again. Oh, and my bush walking boots fit again as my swollen ankles are shrinking.

Garmin Fit, but you also need an adapter. I don't know exactly which phones are compatible.

Nice reward! My final reward might be a really good road bike. As corny as it sounds I get rewarded every time my clothes get looser, or I walk or ride up a hill a bit faster.

They say you can get your 30 minutes per day in ten minute bursts, so I think it will be a benefit. That's what I did. I did three lots of 10 minutes and now I do 30 minutes with no problem. I was morbidly obese and had been a rower, so it was a good exercise for me. By the way, I'm happy to connect here and/or on Garmin…

I read somewhere that you should walk like you have somewhere to go, and certainly when I was walking to and from the train between home or work, I walked as fast as I could. It added up to 60 minutes per day, so worth making it count! With walking apps, and now a GPS watch, I'm enjoying trying to get faster to keep…

Pretty much as above, but I also had to rest my tendons by not bushwalking, rowing, or standing up while cycling (for quite some time). I go back to the podiatrist every six months to make sure the orthotics are still correct for me.

Hi everyone. I eat a minimum of 1600 calories/day and try to eat whole foods, plenty of fruit and veg, but also the odd glass of wine. I eat back most of my exercise calories, and still have over 50lbs to lose. I'm in Australia, and know nothing about US football ;-) Anyway I'm happy to connect with anyone who is…

My two training buddies inspire me to walk most days, and walking faster is easier with them so I'm getting quite a good workout with them.

Within a one hour(ish) drive of Adelaide there are three main wine producing regions and I can confirm that our wine is outstanding! Walking and biking is also good in and around Adelaide....and near the vineyards. There is the Heysen Trail for bush walking and the Mawson Trail for mountain biking. Two hours north of…

What kinds of activities do you want to do? There is skiing in some parts of Australia, and scuba diving in others. I live in Adelaide, South Australia and August is a bit miserable weather wise but still ok for stuff like dragon boat paddling, rowing, walking, cycling, and surfing.
-
Do you know someone in Port Augusta? That is a great base to go to the Flinders Ranges. There is plenty of beautiful country to walk and cycle around there. Port Augusra itself is not really a tourist town.

I live in Australia!

If you like Polar, the M400 would replace the app and your current watch. DC Rainmaker has written an in depth review. Polar Flow now talks to MFP, but I haven't tried it so I can't tell you how well it works.

I live in South Australia and am 47 years old. I exercise most days. I use Garmin Oonnect (Polly274 there). I'm happy to connect with anyone interested in health and fitness.
-
The best thing I did was get to the GP, then the podiatrist for orthotics and exercises. I took up dragon boat paddling for cardiovascular fitness as bush walking was out for about three years in my case.
-
Polar Loop as eventually everything will sync and the Polar Flow app is very compact.
-
I'm Polly274 on GC and usually do something most days of the week. I'm happy to connect with anyone interested in health and fitness here and/or there.

I've carried my two Jack Russell terriers while walking up hill on a hot day. That's a workout!

I've put trackers in my pocket for things like mowing the lawn and they still track steps. I use Polar Loop and Garmin Vivofit. They each can have a HRM attached. They each have another app that uses GPS to track walks, bike rides etc. I prefer Polar, but Vivofit has a one year battery. DC Rainmaker has written reviews for…

I have the charge hr. It's good. I am also a cook, and also wash my hands a million times a day. No problem. (of course, here, the health code prohibits wearing anything on the arms. I ignore that and plan on just slipping it in my pocket if the health inspector shows up lol). [/quote] Typhoid Mary didn't follow the rules…
