No need to be trollish. When you know you have a lot of weight to lose it helps to have a number to work toward, even if it is arbitrary. I think most of us adjust our goal number throughout the process anyway. We all have other weight loss aims besides a number on a scale, that's just the easiest one to quantify.

M/F? F Age? 26 Height? 5'10" Start weight? 220 lbs Goal weight? My initial goal was 155. I met and maintained this for nearly a year but lost some ground in the fall and gained about 8 lbs. Now I'm back to losing again and aiming for 145 lbs. Time it took? about 15 months Allotted daily calories? 1500-1700 when I initially…

I always start with a carrot, an apple, and a chunk of frozen spinach, and add from there based on the flavor and consistency I'm in the mood for. I add ginger and berries if I want it to have some kick, or mangoes and bananas to make it smooth and creamy, etc. Just get creative with the fruit & veg you have lying around.…

Hi! I've been on MFP for two years now and everyone I follow has since abandoned the site =( I'd love to have some new friends! I'm Sarah, 26, been alternating between losing and maintaining for two years. I gained several pounds over the holidays, it's first time I've gained at all since I first started losing so I'm…

Hey! I'm 25, about 5'10", with 10 pounds or so to go and 60 down already. I'm eating maintenance at the moment and my log is all over the place but I'd like to get back on track soon and I'd love to have some MFP friends in a similar situation :)

Agreed! I dislike the idea of my goals being arbitrarily tied to a pair of pants. It fetishizes size and numbers, and that's not why I'm doing this.

BMI isn't a great tool for calculating overall health but it's pretty useful for targeting a goal weight. I started with a goal at the higher end of my healthy BMI range. I've met that goal and now my target is in the middle of the healthy BMI range. Maybe I'll set a new goal or maybe I'll push a little lower but I'll…

It's happened to me as well but it's gone away. I was surprised because I thought that should only happen if I wasn't eating enough, I'm still not sure what caused it. But please be sure not to overdo it and give yourself a moment to rest when you feel dizzy!

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to round those all up! I think I'm going to start BodyRock when I finish 30DS. For those who have done both, is this a good next step?

I live in Bali, and the Balinese have no cultural taboo against commenting freely on your appearance. So Balinese I've known for a while tell me I look more slim the same way Americans comment on the weather. And there's this gem from my Balinese ex-boyfriend: "I liked dating you before, but now you are even more slim and…

Yuck, sorry. I'm just starting to recover from my cold today, here's what I've been doing to keep it in check: - Drink plenty of water, more than MFP's 8 cups a day if you can manage. - No dairy, it makes the congestion worse. - Cut back on sugar, too, I've found that it makes me feel a lot worse during a cold. - Eat a lot…

Have you seen a doctor about this? I think a lot of people struggle with eating at night but in your case it sounds like a debilitating problem. In my case if I'm legitimately hungry I'll eat something with protein, and if I'm just craving something sweet I have some herbal tea.

If you have On Demand try the 10 Pound Slimdown workouts, especially Lower Body and Blast. I've been doing them for about two weeks and the majority of the fat in my thighs has been replaced by muscle already.

I'm really in to herbal teas lately, I've been having them at night when I crave something sweet. (They're very sweet on their own, no need to add any sweetener.) No caffeine or calories and they taste amazing hot or iced. I feel like there must be something bad about them I don't know cause they're too good to be true.…

These sound great, thanks for sharing! I'll definitely be trying this recipe.
