Pick a range of hours and don't eat outside that range. For me it's 12-8. I have no problem eating a day's worth of food in that window so I'm usually full enough that I don't feel restricted the rest of the time. If it was a matter of willpower, I probably couldn't do it, but this keeps me full all day so it's not too…

Good luck OP! I would have sounded just like you when I started out if I had been a little more articulate and self-aware. I get what's going on in your head and I'd love to help you if I can. Can I ask what's your motivation to lose weight now? You say you've just not tried in the past. I was the same as you but I sort of…

Congratulations! I started off with those same numbers several years ago, and though I've experienced some back sliding, I've stayed far away from 200 ever since. It's a great feeling. If I can do it you can do it!

If you're starving you should probably eat more...

Let's say you ate a reuben sandwich at a local cafe. Obviously their calories won't be listed on MFP when you search for "reuben sandwich." But there will be a ton of reuben sandwiches listed with a huge range of calories. Stay safe by choosing an option from the higher end of the calorie range.

This MFP thread is awesome for inspiration: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/823358/what-do-your-meals-look-like-show-me-pictures/ No recipes, just hundreds (thousands?) of photos of what MFPers eat.

I went from being a 2-3 can a day Coke Zero addict to being completely repulsed by soda. I started by scaling back, having 1 can a day for the first month and drinking soda water with crystal light or a bit of juice if I wanted more. The second month I had a can about every other day, again drinking as much soda water as I…

Eat 2000 calories if you don't work out. Working out = earning extra calories to eat. So on days like today you should aim to eat the 2000 calories you would eat whether or not you exercise, plus 400 or 500 to fuel your workout. Most MFP users agree not to eat back all the calories you burned, because MFP overestimates the…

You should try not to have calories remaining. That means you're eating too little according to MFP's calculations.
-
Based on the information you gave to MFP, they've roughly figured out how many calories you need to eat to maintain your current weight. Then they assign you a target calorie goal that is a little less than the calories you need to maintain your weight (or a lot less, based on how quickly you want to lose weight). The…

The only thing you need for weight loss is a calorie deficit, so you can eat or drink anything you want! Just keep it within your calorie limit. Cool, right? There's no magic foods that make you lose weight. You should get that mentality out of your head right now because it will only lead you down the path toward…

Wow, things are getting alarmingly pedantic in here. It sounds like you have a pretty solid grasp on the fact that you need to eat at a calorie deficit to lose weight. I definitely have some tips, tricks, whatever you want to call them for how I achieve this, and they work really well for me, so feel free to give them a…

Are your protein goals set too high? Just a thought. The recommended intake is 1 gram per pound of lean body mass. If you don't have that measurement, you can go by 0.36 grams per pound of total body weight. I eat a Quest bar and two eggs most days, that along with a generally healthy diet usually gets me to my goal. There…

Psyllium husk is great for thickening.

Hiya, I'm in a similar situation as well. After losing nearly 70 lbs, I've gained a chunk of it back and I'm working on losing 20 lbs. It's harder the second time! I'm 27, 5'10". I lift, run, and do some yoga. Recovering from binge eating disorder. In an LDR but moving to Australia next month to be with him, luckily he's…

A heart rate monitor will give you the most accurate results. I've found that exercise machines and MFP both tend to overestimate.
-
If I were you I'd start with a slightly higher goal. Here's why: When you're overweight and you've been that way for a while, you can't really know how much you should weigh, and that's ok! This is pretty much the only thing BMI is useful for, is giving you a goal to reach for when you're starting out. You can and should…

I've always wanted to see a thread like this! This is my first time posting a B&A. I'm still very much in the process of getting my body and fitness level to where I want it to be, but I've come a long way. I started at around 220 lbs at the end of 2010. Today I weigh around 170. These days I'm not so worked up about the…

Cutting back further and further isn't the solution. Under no circumstances should you eat under 1320 calories, if that's your BMR. That's the bare minimum calories you need for your internal organs to function at a comatose state. Sorry to be harsh but you need to know that you're doing serious damage to your body by…

Hi Sweetie. I've been there and I know just how you feel. When I first started losing weight I felt like I was on top of the world, sexy and powerful and unstoppable. But when I started approaching my goal and the progress slowed down, I was misearable. I looked the best I ever had but I felt terrible, much worse than I…

If you're already so active in day-to-day life, maybe you don't need to be doing the extra cardio workouts? You should eat back all of your exercise calories! A big caloric deficit over a long time can mess up your metabolism, this is something I'm trying to recover from now. I'd recommend losing the weight more slowly and…

Highest: around 220 Lowest: 155, 4 months ago. But the calorie intake it took to maintain this was far too low, so I'm trying Eat More to Weigh Less to normalize my metabolism a little. Since then I've been eating at 15% below TDEE and gaining, though it's starting to level off. Today: I'm maintaining 164 while eating 15%…

Hi there, anyone is welcome to add me as well, I'm looking for new friends for sharing support and motivation. I've been on here for a year and a half and have about 15 lbs to go with 60 lbs down.
-
cool idea, but can you really get a decent consistency with no flour?
-
I think you're right about this. The idea is not only to lose weight but to learn how to make healthy choices and stay in a frame of mind that you can maintain for the rest of your life. I don't think this means counting calories forever. Lately now that I've lost and maintained the loss for a while, I take time on and off…

I hope I can help a bit, I live in Laos, with similarly limited access to ingredients, and I don't cook meat. First of all, are you in Seoul? You would have access to some health food stores there, would be very expensive though. Try some simple curries (or soups if you really can't find spices...I know you can at least…

Hey! I'm 26 as well and had a similar starting weight and goals, I'm down to 163 now with 145 as my next goal.
