I think I was about 12 and it was a big deal. Here in Canada we don't generally hand our kids guns for their 5th birthdays

Vanity sizing. I have clothes in my closet that range from a size 4 (which I am not, but it sure makes me feel good), all the way up to Large. I'm 5'10" and 145lbs so figure that one out. Women's clothing sizing makes absolutely no sense.

I had a good friend who was into Amway for many years. She and her husband were recruited at church, where most of the attendees were a part of the Amway cult. It's interesting that the article delves into the religious part of it, because it's one of the least talked about parts of the recruitment process. Very very…

Are you on your phone or tablet before bed? I find this is a huge problem for me when trying to get a good night's sleep. Stay off you phone/ device for at least an hour before bed, and don't have any devices in your bedroom on your nightstand. Reading for awhile before bed is also very helpful to calm the brain.

Runner here. A few HMs under my belt and currently training for a tri.

I'd go with mani/pedi. I hate facials. I would also include a little card telling her that you'll watch her kids while she goes to the spa. How nice of you to give her a little thank you for all her help!

Temporarily, yes. If you have an event where you're wearing a special outfit and want to smooth yourself out, go for it. As soon as you take those garments off, the slimming effect is gone.

You can run around the world and you won't lose weight if you're still in a caloric surplus. Weigh and measure EVERYTHING you eat.
-
Yes. You lose weight everywhere, including your feet.
-
LOL. I can see that "centre of the universe" myth is still going strong

Vancouver checking in

Surrey-ite here. I was going to say Surrey girl but thought better of it

Don't compare yourself to others. You will not lose weight at the same pace as someone else and measuring your success against someone else will set you up for disappointment.

Um...I'm sorry for derailing this thread but I get distracted easily. OP, I just have to know - is your screen name a typo? Or is my mind just dirty? Back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

I respectfully disagree with this comment. Some of us who have been here awhile see the same pattern over and over. Mainly, people who expect their coworkers not to bring in treats and to "not let" them eat junk. Why should coworkers hold any responsibility whatsoever for a grown adult's decisions? Keep in mind this OP…

Exactly. I always laugh when I'm getting fitted for new shoes and the salesperson makes a remark about the colour scheme. Do people really care what colour their running shoes are? I'm not wearing them for fashion, I could care less what colour they are.

THIS Sometimes you can get clearouts of last year's model. Check with your running store. And if you ever find yourself with a bit more money than usual, buy 2 pairs of runners at that time and stash one in your closet.

Those are some crucial details. I'm surprised nobody here has mentioned watching your calorie intake in order to control your weight. I believe calorie intake during pregnancy is supposed to be 1.1X your regular intake, but I could be wrong. Did you and your doctor discuss this?

Way to go! What a great milestone.

I find myself in a similar situation. My BFF and I both started MFP around the same time. I've lost 65lbs and she's probably gained weight. We are running buddies, always have been. I am now definitely more fit that she is, and our runs are much slower and shorter than my solo runs. Sometimes I don't even break a sweat…

More information needed - why is your doctor giving you this advice? Did you gain too much with your first pregnancy? Are you at risk of gestational diabetes? Those are pretty good reasons for recommending you watch your weight for your second pregnancy. ETA - I would hope that this advice came with some reasonable…

Link didn't work for me but I have never heard of eating the seed. Doesn't seem appealing to me.

Uh....if the person you're having an online discussion with is a Trump supporter, I'd say you made your own bed. You really expected an intelligent conversation?
-
Does your local pool offer any classes? I always thought I was a strong swimmer until a few months ago when I signed up for a triathlon and took a stroke improvement class. OMG.

Do you have bike shorts? Trust me, buy bike shorts with padding. It will help the sit bone issue somewhat, although you still have to acclimatize. Just be thankful it's only your sit bones....the "other" issues is um...very uncomfortable.

I would reply with something like "It's unfortunate that you resort to personal insults when someone has outmatched you in intelligent conversation about a divisive topic."
-
Am I missing something? What is pre workout?
-
A lot of gyms have them, if you'd like to try one out before purchasing.

Totally normal. For me, my performance will suffer if I'm not properly hydrated or if I haven't been fueling myself well for the past number of days. Also if I've been drinking the night before, I can count on a crappy run.
