  • And…new one on me, to eat 200 cals every 2 hrs. Said body burns/uses 200 calories every 2 hours and anything eaten beyond 200 cals gets stored as fat. LOL… That's definitely a new one. Things like this blow my mind - do people who believe stuff like this just literally never look around? How do they explain the millions of…
  • Is this something you are finding in the food database? If so, there's no attached recipe, it's likely a food someone else has created either from a recipe of their own or from the details of a restaurant or shop. Maybe you can google the name and see what recipes come up?
  • Do check the entries you use against the label of the product you're logging, or a reliable database like the USDA! So many people choose (of the many, many options for every product) the most attractive (ie lowest calorie) one and wonder why their losses don't match their tracking. The database is user sourced, by and…
  • I plan and track my before bed snack in advance, usually good quality dark chocolate because I can stop more easily and find it more satisfying. If it makes you happy, make it fit your plan!
  • Thanks @Gidgitgoescrzy and @lauren_989 The hike is an organised event, but not a charity one, up in the Australian outback. We fly up for a long weekend for it (me and three girlfriends). Some people are using it for a competitive trail run, but we're just doing it for fun and to push ourselves. Wednesdays is still good…
  • @PAV8888 and @annPT77 haha yeah, the grain of salt comment was definitely to indicate I really don't trust it for anything but my actual weight, the rest is just interesting trivia. If anything, it saying that I've only lost 17% muscle mass considering my rate of loss etc indicates that its measurements are full of…
  • I just had mine out about 6 weeks ago, but I'm thinking you must have had to have full surgery and not laparoscopic? I was back to normal everything, including exercise, within 4 weeks of surgery. I've not noticed any difference before or after my surgery and was never warned there would be any, either. Everything seems to…
  • Hi all, I'm kind of back - @lauren_989 can I be put back on the active team? Things are so surreal here. I'm rattling around a house filled with memories, but holding it together, I still get up at 6am to walk the pup, I'm going back to work next week… I'm thankfully working with a counsellor, and I'm trying to keep…
  • I calorie cycle - I stay low on days where it's just me and I control 100% what I make and eat, so that on days where I'm out and about and want a splurge, or have less control over how many calories are in something, it doesn't matter as much.
  • This is so interesting and I have never done the math. I just did. According to my Withings scale (so grain of salt), I went from 123.2kg at 45% muscle (being 55.5kg) to 85.6kg at 57.5% muscle (being 49.2kg), so of my 37.6kg loss so far, around 17% of it was muscle.
  • I have never had premium and have had great success. Honestly, none of the features are worth it for me, though I will say that I still have access to the barcode scanner on free, which new joiners don't. Really, it's up to you whether the specific features will add to your success. I don't need to be able to change my…
  • Thank you for the lovely wishes, ladies. It's been a hell of a week, and this coming one will also be challenging, we have the memorial on Wednesday. I've been keeping sane by not stopping - projects, exercise, cleaning etc etc. I actually ran my first non-stop 5km on Saturday, I joined a Parkrun expecting to walk/run and…
  • So it's been a pretty bad time there last month or so. I had my gall bladder out, and that went fine. But then... My husband, my beloved husband passed away. Suddenly. It's been hell, honestly. I've been coping by staying really, really busy. Including working out. And today, I did my first non-stop 5km run at Parkrun.…
  • MFP doesn't have a find local option, so don't go spending money on premium for a feature it doesn't have! The interaction options are basically this community, or being able to send private messages 1:1 with people you have added as a friend. There are some groups and challenges that are good for community building,…
  • I have seen other threads about alcohol being counted where none was imbibed, but I admit it never occurred to me that it could be a legal issue. That's huge. It did occur to me that it could be an issue for people who were in recovery, however, and this legal issue could cross over to those in court-ordered sobriety…
  • Hi @lauren_989 may I please be moved to the support team for the time being. My husband has suffered a catastrophic brain injury and is in palliative care. I don't know when anything will be normal enough again for me to truly return.
  • Definitely look at how you are logging, too. Logging is a bit of a waste if it's not giving you an accurate picture, and if you're gaining while the app is telling you you should be losing, as I said above, there's a good chance that your logging is off. Cutting back may reduce your intake, but accurate logging will give…
  • Hi, can you give a bit more information? Is the Lantus for T1 or T2 diabetes? How much do you have to lose? Age, weight, activity level? How have you set your calorie goal, and how have you been tracking your calories? It could be many things, AFAIK Lantus isn't one of the diabetes meds that is associated with weight loss,…

  • I have had great success eating around 250-300 calories below my goal (and not eating exercise calories) on weekdays and then eating at around maintenance on weekends, or along those lines (ie eating lower on days where I have full control over what I eat and no events, leaving wiggle room for days where I'm eating out, or…
  •  of the words we don’t know and understand and can’t spell I'm immediately suspicious of anyone or anything that tells you to what to eat according to your educational level.
  • Hi Leslie, welcome! Don't feel obliged to subscribe to Premium unless the features will benefit you, lots of us have wonderful success on the free version!

  • You can on the app, but not on desktop, and only by name, not ingredient etc.
  • I'd like this too, but my current workaround is to put it in the recipe title. So I might have "Chicken Corn Soup - 100g serve" or "Chicken Corn Soup - 1 cup serve"
  • In what context is it asking for this?
  • PW 89.4kg CW: 90.3kg I'm still puffy, I know because the shorts I wore yesterday cut in all around the waist where they were previously very comfy but I'm back to 10k steps a day and some cardio, and getting away from the pity-snacking disguised as recovery-snacking, so it should head right back down soon!!
  • I believe the "goal" is an upper limit, not a target, based on the amount of total fat a person is allocated when setting their goals.
  • I think you are in a calorie deficit, however calories are not the primary driver of weight. I'm sorry, this is incorrect. Calories are, without debate, the primary driver of weight and weight loss. Someone in a calorie deficit WILL lose weight. Various factors may prevent them being in a calorie deficit, but the laws of…
  • Way to go nossmf!! I'm finally getting into shape in my mid-40s, I've lost weight before but have never done the fitness/muscle work to go along with the stupid diet, and the difference is amazing. You look great, and that earlier pic is also adorable!
  • So I've always had free. On desktop, my data only goes back 12 months. On app, my food data goes back 12 months, but my weight data goes back as long as I have had my account, so maybe 12 years.
  • Because there's no set goal for them, you can nominate your own, but default is 0, not as a suggestion but as a minimum.
