Because the heavier you are, the more calories you burn existing. A 160lb person would burn more calories just going about their normal day if they were wearing a 50lb weighted vest, so a 210lb person burns more calories, too.

What do you like? A good general rules of thumb is to go for whole foods first. Meat (many will say lean), fruit and veg, legumes, and look to add foods that have some added nutritional benefits like yogurt etc. There's no magic list of foods, and no one way of eating, but generally the closer to its natural state a food…

@conleywoods they're gorgeous!!!

We're pretty low key and standard - present exchange, turkey/ham lunch etc, but the 2 favourite non-traditional traditions we have are: 1. that the last presents exchanged are the next year's calendar which is always created by my brother, where he and my nephew have posted for a bunch of photos that my brother has then…

Woohoo! Thank you!!

I'll be generally logging, though some days I'll be eyeballing rather than exact - it's more an aide memoire so I can look back and go "what did I do??". I'm planning on keeping up the exercise, and not going wild on the treats or alcohol.

Started off the Christmas week with a 10km Sunday hike with a 330m elevation! Gorgeous views, but my glutes are telling me ALL about it today!

Same for me, overly restricting (and keto is hugely restrictive) is not sustainable for me and my lifestyle. The sugar free strategy seems to me like training through punishment haha. Eat the less tasty version, and if you eat too much, you will be punished with gastric distress!

I thought of this thread when making my salad for dinner. I logged 60g of roasted red pepper strips using the barcode, then when putting them into my salad I would have been happy with 45g, but because I logged 60, I added 60 lol.

OH, I've noticed this - there was one the other day about removing the 'adding friends' stickies etc because having friends is now pointless without the feed, and it wasn't coming up in the recent list despite having new responses.

Hi Paula! I remember you :) What a kick in the pants you're going through! Sending you a ton of good wishes. Much like you, I joined back in the day, got serious around 2014/2015, lost a heap of weight, felt great, and then put it all back on. I've been back seriously since July and am watching that downward trend again,…

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend any 'brand' because if they're big enough to have a brand name and be national or multi state, they're too big to trust. Find local.

Yes, that was this guy! Working in Gaza, teenage son in boarding school back home. Funnily, for someone who was working half way around the world from his home, he seemed to have no understanding of time zones...

I admit, I was having a slow day the other day and accepted one of the requests, just to mess with the scammer. It was fun telling him about my 12 dogs, my career in tantric yoni massage, and the fact that I was a devout pastafarian who participated in devotions at the local Olive Garden every Saturday, unraveling the…

Sooooo many scammers, pretty much every friend request I get it just another one. They're not just dudes looking to hit on women, they're scammers too.

Honestly, you need to stop with the "day 1" thing. That implies that it's a countable, measurable, temporary period of time which you're going to do something outside your normal until you reach some goal, then you can stop. If you want to make permanent changes to your body, you need to make permanent changes to your…

Fat doesn't make you fat! It's actually really good for satiety for a lot of people (me included). 30% is fine!
-
All of the above! But my biggest piece of advice if you're looking for consistency is to weigh it, and preferably track it, before you stick it in your head. Otherwise you get stuck exactly as you are, wondering and stressing. Sometimes that's not possible, but where you can, it will give you better information to work…

I found that I can devour a whole block of milk chocolate, but will savour and be satisfied with only a 20g serve of really dark chocolate, so that's what I do. 20g of 70% cocoa chocolate with my tea of an evening.

I didn't think I'd be ticking this one off, but my new one yesterday was the yellow tick! This year I planted normal zucchini but also tromboncino squash, which I've never seen or had before, and yesterday I ate my first harvest! They're in the zucchini family, and are like zucchini when green and young, but left on the…

Thanks Ann! I agree, I would totally expect to be losing more than just fat otherwise it would be all disproportionate lol. I've just had a low key worry that I might be losing more muscle than I thought, but the trend above seems to be OK, if it can be relied upon at all.

I kind of feel bad posting my bounty when I know so many people are snowed under haha! I admit, I do love living somewhere where even in winter my garden produces, just different things! This year I planted something I'd never had before, tromboncino squash! It's amazing, I've never seen it in stores, but when it's young…

This one, but I reduced the oil by about 3/4 - it was DELICIOUS!! The lamb was so tender and flavourful. I had it with stir fried veggies! https://www.recipetineats.com/xinjiang-cumin-lamb-stir-fry/

No. Meal timing is irrelevant in practical terms. What matters is your average calorie intake.
-
Not all food needs to be eaten! And not all meals need to be high calorie. I control where I can, eat as low calorie as possible (without deprivation) where I have full control and am mindful of what I eat when I don't have full control.

Look, it's trite, but true - losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Choose your hard. It sounds like your health and your weight are significantly negatively impacting your life. They're almost definitely contributing to your depression and disappointment. I have lost a lot of weight in the last 6 months. People ask me…

My concerns with this feature are very much along the ED worries above, and the whole "majoring in the minors" effect that people tend to get, especially in the early days. It can be helpful info if it's just taken as suggestions, but I can just imagine all the new people who will be taking it as gospel and chucking in the…

I have been very happy and successful at a more aggressive deficit 5-6 days a week, and maintenance at 1-2 days a week. The flexibility makes this all sustainable, and if my progress has slowed at all, I didn't need it to be faster in the first place.

Happy Wednesday! PW: 101.4kg CW: 98.4kg I skipped weighing last week, but had a bit of a shock seeing this, anyway.
