Do you like Tofu or Sateen (Wheat Protein)? Also, there are Smart Dogs (soy protein, but I swear they taste like beef). Also, there's a dry vegan protein that I buy from Whole Foods, which has 11 grams and only 60 calories for 1/3 of a cup; I add that vegan protein, which is crunchy, to oatmeal. Yogurts are also good…

Thanks everyone for responding! I appreciate knowing I'm not the only one who wonders such things! I also appreciate learning that your actual weight plays into the burn, which makes sense. Also, the tip for wearing a Heart Rate Monitor to see how it calculates is a great reminder! Thanks to each one of you for taking time…

Chin up. Don't give up just yet. Nobody is perfect. What helps me is determining before I eat or drink something if it is really "worth" the calories, i.e., does it taste "THAT" good? It helps me make better choices. I also find lower calorie snack foods that help me stay on target but still satisfy cravings. And, I'm…

Way to go! Great job! Congratulations :)

I was recently at the Elephant Bar Restaurant and was aghast to see a favorite salad (Thai High Chicken Salad) that I used to eat in the past is 1070 calories! I've learned now to order off the menu and find most restaurants very accommodating. I get all greens with cherry tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers - whatever raw…

South Beach, Atkins, Nugo, Think Thin are a few I've tried & like them all. I tend to stick with the South Beach, because they're 100 calories. If you're looking to add fiber, I add wheat & oat bran to a lot of things (oatmeal, scrambled egg whites, even in my low cal french toast batter, & hidden in stir-fry recipes :)

I'm ever-calorie conscious, so I use Sara Lee Multi Grain 45 Calories per slice bread, dipped in egg whites with nutmeg, cinnamon, & ground cloves. I top with sugar free syrup & sometimes fresh strawberries. It satisfies me & my husband - and you can have three slices for 145 calories - 4 slices totally fills you up. it's…

If there's a Trader Joe's by you - their frozen fish is pretty darn good. The "White Roughy," is a favorite of mine; it not only doesn't smell fishy, it doesn't taste fishy - it's very mild. I use dill, Nature's Seasoning, I Can't Believe it's Not Butter Spray, & lemon zest - bake on Pam sprayed foil per the instructions.…

I think if you eat natural sugar, in the form of fruits (primarily berries or small apples, then it's not bad if you go over your limit. I tend to go over most of the time, but I also have been under or right at the limit. I choose protein bars or South Beach Snacks that are not too high in sugar - the same thing with the…

Try eating more fresh veggies (sugar snap peas, celery, broccoli, cauliflower); eat salad made from various lettuces & spinach twice per day and add all the raw veggies you want; try mini flavored rice cakes as a snack (come in bbq flavor or creamy ranch, by Gensoy); try a bigger breakfast with more fiber (steel cut oats…

South Beach makes a few 100 Calorie snacks that are quite satisfying. A few of my favorites include the dark chocolate covered soy nuts, and chocolate/chocolate and chocolate/cherry nougat inside. Also, if sugar free jello and sugar free/no sugar added fudgesicles are good. Additionally, dannon light & fit yogurt in some…

I agree with you 100%. Being sexy comes from the inside, it's a state of mind, an ability to believe in yourself and be yourself. When you consider that as we age, the outside beauty will fade, but if you're beautiful inside, then you'll always be sexy. Part of that inner beauty absolutely includes being intelligent,…

It sounds to me like you're on the right path, Helen! Slow & steady wins the race. For us, this is a lifestyle change, so there's no rush to lose the weight for us. I've battled weight my entire life and was 207 at my highest and 97 at my lowest (anorexic then when I was a teen). Keep up the great work, keep changing up…

I'm a firm believer in slow & steady wins the race! 1-2 lbs per week, or more importantly, if you're losing inches (noting & tracking your measurements is key! (chest, waist, hips, arm, thigh), then you're on the right track!

Have you taken your measurements? You may be losing inches or fat, rather than actual lbs (muscle weighs more than fat). Are you doing the same exercises each time you go (for cardio)? If so, you might consider switching it up a bit! I often go by how my clothes fit and what my measurements are, rather than what's on the…
