Black coffee has +/- 2 calories per cup, depending on how you make it. That low calorie total will not impact your weight loss until you start mainlining it via IV. Adding sugar, cream, and the various flavorings available will add calories to coffee, obviously, and should be tracked accordingly. Trying to keep me from my…

There's potentially no right answer here. If we acknowledge you, we stand the chance (potentially a good one, depending on you) of being accused of doing so out of pity, or condescension, or only being interested in whatever particular body type you have at that moment. If we do not acknowledge you, we stand the chance of…

Coffee/tea/caffeinated soda doesn't dehydrate folks who have anything like a tolerance for caffeine (in other words, anyone who drinks it more than once in a blue moon). Everyone who drinks coffee dies. Everyone who tries to keep me away from my coffee flirts with dying faster.

1) Walking/Hiking 2) Circuit Training (yes, really)

So you're saying the women here always exercise restraint and decline to comment in 'guys only' threads? Note also the OP's distinction between 'boys' (clearly indicating immaturity) and 'ladies' (clearly indicating both maturity and class).

Step 1: Do something today that you can count as a success toward 'sticking with this.' Step 2: Repeat Step 1 tomorrow, possibly with a different 'something.'

Linked article ties it to the glycemic index, which has been debunked by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. http://junkfoodscience.blogspot.com/2007/10/gi-more-bad-carb-myths.html http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/86/4/988.abstract

Sugar doesn't do my depression any favors; I know that. Adequate protein and B-complex vitamins are both helpful for me, personally, as is coffee, as caffeine works to elevate and stabilize my mood. As to whether these tips will work for you, I cannot say, but I do wish you the best.

Which has no impact on the actual sugar itself. Additionally, it's fairly trivial to meet your dietary needs of vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates and STILL have calories left over for a sugary dessert of some sort. You don't get extra credit for eating more nutrient-dense foods, once your targets are…

My "no" list: Cherries, peaches, and bivalves - I have food sensitivities to these, and get stomach pains and an itchy throat. Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts -

I disagree on one thing. He will care. He will care that you're now being honest about your weight, and will care that you're trying to make a positive difference in your health. Other than that, if your weight was either a mystery to him or an actual impediment to your relationship, he'd already be gone. He's not. Being…

Most folks in this situation get here because, in addition to the exercise they're doing, they're restricting their diet to (some definition of) "good foods" and eliminating calorie-dense options they consumed regularly when they weren't trying to lose weight. In general, the key is portion control, rather than control…

Nothing wrong with eating fat; fat is good for you. OP: Nutella, almond butter/cashew butter, whole peanuts or tree nuts, and other more calorie-dense foods are all perfectly good substitutes for peanut butter if you're not a fan of the stuff. Edited for lactose intolerance.

This.

Because the banana provided a quick influx of calories, simple carbohydrates, and B vitamins.

OP listed no specific food intolerances or sensitivities; obviously, if one's system does not handle a particular food well, eliminating that food is wise. That's not a typical use of 'detox,' but whatever. The OP made no specific commentary about 'eating clean,' which is probably due - at least in part - to the fact that…

Alcatraz Voyages (I think was the name; predates Quantum Leap, starred a teenager and an actor who later died from a prop gun going off)

At which point I would trip over my own feet from laughing, twist my ankle, and be restricted from exercising for a couple of weeks. Gosh, thanks.

Everyone who eats ice cream is going to die. FACT! (So is everyone who abstains from it).

That's just about entirely subjective, so all but impossible to say (and, with this being the internet, that means someone will be along shortly with 'science' to provide hard numbers). I've seen some folks express it in terms of a percentage over their goal weight, but that percentage appears to vary based on how heavy…

Probably until this whole 'internet' fad dies down. *cough*

They either care not a whit about your current size and perceived fitness level, or think it's wonderful that you're making a positive choice to be fit with an activity that you (hopefully) enjoy. If neither of the preceding is true, think nothing more of the oafs. "Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't…

For most folks without specific medical issues, meal timing isn't actually important, so the 3 vs 7 meals thing isn't really an issue. Protein is obviously your first priority in building muscle mass, so focus primarily on getting adequate protein, followed by adequate fat (for satiety as well as strength), and with…
