I always plan to be flexible, and it makes this lifestyle far more sustainable. Some days I'm ridiculously hungry, and other days I'm satisfied with a salad for lunch and soup for dinner. As long as my calories average out at roughly 1600/day at the end of the week, I'm a happy girl.

I'm pretty open and proud of how much I have lost, so I have no problem telling people. However, I find it hilarious how disappointed people get when they hear I did it the boring way: tracking everything. I think people hope that I lost it with some magic formula, when in reality, I just worked my butt off.

This has been the same for me. I'm 22, and people my age don't check me out anymore. However, older men are very, very interested. Awkwardly so. I definitely feel left out by my heavier friends, and people food push so much now. I'm still on the heavier side of a healthy BMI, but people are constantly talking about what…

I've been playing around with losing weight for over a year now. I lost thirty pounds last year, and this year I have slowly gained them all back. It has been a rough year, and I have let things slide in a way that I shouldn't have. I didn't notice how much I had gained until last week, when I went to put on my interview…

I LOVE mine! I have had it for almost three years, and I've lost thirty pounds with it. Any weight that I have gained has been from poor food choices and eating too much! I don't have a period, don't have to worry about pill absorption/timing, and don't have to worry about pregnancy. Insertion was not comfortable at all.…

I started with a FitBit Ultra three years ago, and it really raised my awareness of how little exercise I was actually getting in. I had always thought that I was quite active, but I was only getting about 4000 steps in each day! I was able to maintain my weight for the first two years, until I broke it and didn't replace…

I log before or immediately after. I try to avoid waiting until the evening because I find it is easy to forget little things, like the two kisses I picked up from a coworker's desk or the 6 tootsie rolls I ate while waiting in the car. The little things add up quickly!

That would be a terrible idea for me. I know that even though I have done great these past few months, I'm probably not at a place to start eyeballing my nutrition, and definitely not during the holidays, when everything is even more calorie-laden and the snow makes me want to stay inside and skip workouts.

I think it depends on body type/height/weight distribution. I'm between 5'8 and 5'9 and it took me about 30lbs for my pants to start falling off me, and I have another 40lbs to go. Right now I'm living in leggings, flowing tops and chunky sweaters. I've bought a couple of things in my current size, but I just don't want to…

I weigh myself and record it every day on a separate app, and I record it here after a week of consistent results. I like to see the ups/downs that come from different food choices, and it has been fun to discover how much water my muscles retain after a murderous workout (roughly 3lbs) and how I can have one 3000+ calorie…

For me, calories in = calories out. I have lost weight eating nothing but healthy food, and I have lost weight by counting calories alone and eating tons of junk food, both with and without exercise. I have found that I am better able to maintain if I don't try to cut out all junk food, because I have a tendency to fall…

That is such an incredible difference! I can't imagine why someone would judge your transformation — you took charge of your own life, and made a decision to save it! You look absolutely amazing.

I weigh everything I eat at home, and when I go out I look up what I ate, use my best guess, and add 25%. I don't freak out too much if I go over one week, because I know it will be better the next.

Ugh, I have this and I swear, my stomach looks worse now than it did 30lbs ago. I know that the skin just needs time to catch up, but I feel so gross.

I'm logging everything, but I fully expect it to be something close to 3,000 calories. I'm not going to panic about it because I'm going to enjoy this one day, and then I'm going to take any and all leftovers to work for my coworkers to enjoy. Last year I tried to be "perfect" and it worked until about 9pm, when I ate what…

I've been vegetarian for almost four years now, and in that time I gained weight (yay college!) and I've lost weight (I record everything that I eat. Everything.) Being vegetarian or even vegan isn't going to be a magical weight loss answer, because you are always going to be able to find things that taste delicious and…

Yep! I track everything I put in my mouth, even on planned indulgence days. It really doesn't take much time, and I like to keep track of my intake. It took me forever to get in the habit of tracking, and I don't want to let the holidays destroy it.

I personally lost about as much in my first two months, but it has slowed drastically since then (I've lost about 3lbs in the past month.) I'm not too worried, because I feel good and my endurance has been increasing as it should. I wouldn't worry if you are able to meet your nutritional goals and you still feel good.

Necro post, but here is my take on it: It sounds like the OP was comparing his wife's body after having three kids/being married forever/probably passing 40 to a totally different body type. Everyone carries weight differently, and it sounds like his wife is someone who is a little more pear-shaped. Having three kids…

I don't buy it or keep it in my house. I'm lucky because I'm vegetarian, and my fiance loves Rice Krispie treats. I make those for him often, and I am not tempted because they contain gelatin. When I know I'm going out, I plan accordingly. I will eat lightly the days before, and then get what I want. I don't eat things…

My only question would be measurements — Are you absolutely positive that you are accurately measuring everything you are eating? Or are you heaping thing onto the measuring spoon or nibbling on things that aren't making it into the tracker? Have you tried using a food scale? Consistency is really important when it comes…

Oh my gosh, yes. I love skinny lattes because they give me the boost I need, without a ton of calories! Sometimes I have one made with soy milk instead of fat free milk and it is amazing. A few calories more, but more filling and delicious. I typically have one for breakfast (I can't bring myself to eat solid food in the…

I want to be under 140 by Christmas, which would be a 15lb loss — pretty doable! In fantasy land, I would love to be at 135. Doable, but that would involve a lot more work.

It isn't too difficult if I plan, but I find that it is very difficult if I leave the house with no idea as to what I'm going to eat that day. A good day for me is: Breakfast: Oatmeal with and chia seeds (240ish) and a cup of coffee with cream (45) Snack: Fruit or veggies with PB (200) I like a bigger mid-morning snack…

Marry in haste, repent at leisure. I know so many people who got married right after high school, and they are divorcing now. not pretty. Make time for each other, and say yes. Yes to the stupid things, like the party at his annoying friend's house, or to getting a puppy, or to going on a spur of the moment trip. It is too…

For me, MFP's calorie estimates are ridiculously off (literally double the amount of calories) and that actually caused me to gain a bit of weight back! I recommend trying it, and seeing if it works for you. If you don't see the results you are looking for, change your intake!

I have a few reasons: -For me, weight loss gets really hard and slow after I lose 10%. That first 10% is easy and relatively quick — I can lose about 2lbs a week with healthy eating and exercise. However, it slows dramatically once I get past that point, and the same healthy routine only brings a loss of 0.5lbs a week or…

I've lost almost 30lbs with my Mirena! I lovelovelovelove it. The only downside is the insertion pain (I'm two years in and I'm dreading having it removed and replaced at the five year mark.) I used to have wicked terrible periods that other forms of birth control didn't help, and my Mirena has greatly improved my quality…

My fiance is 6'4 and roughly 155lbs. He has always been thin, and when we first started dating I assumed that he had a much faster metabolism, due to the fact that he would eat an entire burger/fries/shake/dessert combo when we went out for lunch. I just thought that he had won the genetic lottery! I was in for a rather…

They have been worth taking for me! I've lost about 25lbs in the past two months, and I can't see it in the mirror yet. I can still wear most of my clothes, and no one else has really noticed that I've lost weight. However, when I put the photos side-by-side I can see major improvement, and that is what helps me step away…
