I have lost 30 lbs and I focused much more on cardio. Actually to lose the 30, I only did cardio. I will focus on strength training after I am closer to my goal. Cardio burns more calories. I basically did tons of walking and some running (C25K) and spent lots of time on the treadmill. Occasionally I would add biking.…

I hate to sound negative, but some people do everything they can but their bodies are just meant to be the way they are. Your weight seems low. I would attempt a change in exercise routine to focus on problem areas but if that doesn't help in time, I would just learn to love the great qualities you already have. :)

I haven't reached my goal yet but I know I need to log for life. I have maintained my 30 lb loss for the last 6 months or so. The way Iook at it is that I can spend 5 minutes a day logging for life to ensure my improved health, or I can fall off the bandwagon which will likely result in many many doctors appointments,…

I have trouble too unless I am on a treadmill. Do you have access to one? it's soooo much easier to control on a treadmill to at least get used to the slower speed and then eventually you can go back out on the road.

I don't have as much to lose but here's my take. Focus on eating less. It will be much more effective than focusing on exercise. Track 100% of your intake in MFP. Set a good calorie goal being a little generous to start and you can lower it later. When I was heavier I found the easiest way to get moving is just to go to…

Today I hit the one year mark of logging in EVERY single day! whooo hoooo!!!!! I've lost 30 lbs. in a year. Today I am starting fresh (haven't loss any in the last 3 months) and will be commenting more. While losing 30 lbs in a year may not be very significant to some, I only have another 15-20 to lose and I wanted to do…

Ditto this! Weight loss is primarily from diet change. Exercise is very important for health and fantastic for well being and a bonus for boosting your weight loss, but chances are your weight gain is from increased intake. I've heard before that weight loss is usually approx 80% intake control and only 20% exercise. So…

Slow is good. Actually slow is GREAT!! It gives your body time to adjust and it makes a difference with hanging skin. Also, research shows that those who lose slower tend to keep the weight off. Congrats on your loss!

may I ask the age of those of you that hit menopause, if you don't mind sharing! I'm terrified of the big M and somehow convinced myself I am starting early.

I have to do daily or I will lose total control. I've learned this after trying every method for a couple of decades. I've learned to embrace the gains... and it may sound silly but I get excited in a weird way when I have a gain, because this weight loss game is like a rollercoaster, and I know as long as I continue, what…

It's much more than a pedometer to me. I get the weekly reports sent to my email stating how many net calories were lost/gained over the week, average daily amount of steps or mileage, etc. I find this VERY useful. It's kind of idiot proof for me which I like. It gives the total calories burned over the day, rather than…
