Definately start with the shoes, if you did not do that from the beginning. Getting properly fitted at a running store will help you greatly, also an excellent way to meet other folks in your local running community. The folks at the running store should be able to get you into a shoe that properly supports the way you…

Okay, so I am not alone. In to see more suggestions.

HaleyC, I think consistency is the key and making sure that the days that you do go off plan do not become a total train wreck. I try to remeber this mantra "Make The Better Choice". You always have choices while dining out, try to make the better choice whether that is picking the lighter item or consuming only half of a…

Alright, second full week completed the other day. Finished second week with a 4lb loss, for a total of 14 in two weeks. Doing well on the calorie level, water, and weight training; but still not getting the nightly walks. Hope to improve on the walking routine in the coming week, as my son's Lacrosse season has just…

There are a number of women on here that speak highly of New Rules of Lifting for Women. I think the book is available in paperback on Amazon

I have added a few folks from this post. About me: Approaching one of those milestone birthdays (6 months shy of 50) and wanting to make it one of the best. Reset all of my numbers on MFP about 2 weeks ago to give myself a fresh start. Still looking to add some active friends.

Okay, first official week in the books. Down a total of 10lbs I did well staying at the lower calorie level. Got 2 days of resistance training, but only got in the after dinner walk on three days. Did well with the water intake and only missed the number on 2 days. Very interested to see if I keep up this rate, since in…

Thanks jweisshoff, I am trying to remember to stay dedicated to logging and exercise and not letting one bad day turn into two bad days. Really want to be in a much better place by the time I hit 50 later this year.

The calorie count is not bothering me too much. The amount of water and the meal frequency are what is making it harder for me. I seem to do better at this during the week as my schedule is much more structured, but the weekend is a whole different story. I do notice that the meal frequency and the water tend to help curb…

Calories were not too bad, but that is a lot of water. :) Missed the walk after dinner, but did get one n after lunch. Did weight training on Tuesday with only 3 exercises, still need to get that part ironed out as that seems like the most challenging part since it is very different than the normal go heavy.

Understand completely.. Been on and off of here for several years and have just reset everything to begin with a fresh start. I think that being on here and reaching out is the first step. Seems easier to do little things and then let them build up to something big; after all we did not get into this situation in one…

Just got the book today, so still reading about the diet and "fat bombs". I should be able to get the book completed and up on the diet by the beginning of next week. Have you been following the diet for very long? I did try the negative training exercises today, and found them very challenging and can see that as being a…

Seems that you can get a lot of the same information right here for free. If I recall he has you focus on your Macro Nutrients, Eating 5-6 times a day, and exercising. There is a wealth of information available in this group; have you tried using the various links pinned to the top of this board?

Hey understand the merry-go-round feeling. I make good progress during the week, but then the boating and cookouts on the weekend sabatoge me by providing plenty of beer, barbeque and burgers. Feel free to add me.

Congratulations on finishing 8 weeks of running. Now onto weeks 9, 10, 11......... You seem hung up on the speed and distance. The main thing is that you are out there moving and getting better. C25K is a start, just keep working at what you are doing. Try to get a little better each time, add a few minutes of running and…

I weigh everyday, realizing there are going to be ups and downs. I track the numbers on a sheet and then get a weekly average, I find that stepping on the scale every morning helps focus me for the day ahead. That being said it is not for the faint of heart, especially when that number stays in the same place for a number…
