Referring to the picture, what muscles would that be working, besides the hip muscles? It looks like almost a total body workout, yes?

I am glad your parents didn't feel that way.

I wasn't judging, just saying I get distracted. I didn't say grunting while exercising is bad, just that it pulls my attention away from my own tasks. If someone is groaning and grunting and they are not in my sight, I sometimes think they are hurt or in distress. I usually wear headphones when I exercise anyway to help…

I pushed an 8lb baby out a small hole and didn't make that noise

Actually really rank B.O. is distracting. I walked into the gym the other day and the entire area smelled like a cross between cat urine and dirty armpit, no where was safe. The smell carried so much you couldn't pin point a direct location, that is, until a certain person left and the smell left too. I am guessing they…

Clothing isn't as distracting to me as much as the guys lifting weights and bellowing like a whale. Sometimes I fear they are getting hurt and need help but then it turns out they just like to "exhale" as loud as they can.

I like my flex ok. I had a body media arm band which I preferred over the fit bit. It help you realize how much or little you are doing. I was surprised to see how actually under-active I was compared to what I thought I was doing.

too funny!

I never gave that a thought, glevinso, but that is an awesome way to look at it. I do eat slower and less of the item because I can only tolerate my tongue on fire for so long. Thanks!

vodka and tonic (diet tonic at home or if available in public) is my choice

what is the difference between walking outside and hiking?

How are you measuring your calories burned? If you don't already have a Fitbit, Jawbone or some other device I would suggest getting one. I think people tend to believe they are burning more than they are. For example, a friend of mine put her activity level at lightly active....then she would google calories burned by…

Nope, I don't like eating back calories......I have done it but with quilt

You will probably have a better, longer lasting result by tracking your food and doing things right than your friend with her prescription drug. Many people I know that took prescription weight loss drugs lost a lot of weight. When they reached their goal weight their prescription ended and all the weight went back on plus…

Camo_xxx...well said. Food is a struggle for a lot of people, not just how much but the quality as well. It is really easy to offer excuses as to why we do what we do and to act like there are reasons for it but bottom line.....I control what goes in my mouth and if I fail it is only because of moments of weakness. Or for…

Good Info, thanks

Unfortunetly, I didn't see the original post about judging fat people. That being said I feel I have a good understanding of the direction it took. I certainly don't judge a person by their shape or weight, or looks. I have been heavy and I know how hurtful it can be. It seems that there are a lot of people commenting in…

Can you update us with your success or failures? I am interested to see how well you do.

My husband and I both have a body media. We love it. I feel it is more accurate then the fitbit. Either way I encourage people to try one or the other so they can actual see what they are burning off. In my mind I always burned off more that I actually did. They are helpful either way.

Usually I dont log it at all, however, I just recently logged Folger's columbian roast. It had 20 calories for 6 oz brewed (if I remember correctly). A whole pot of coffee could mean like.....hundred calories depending on pot size. That adds up. I usually have 3 or 4 cups of coffee in a mug so I is probably more than 6 ozs…

I tend to yawn when I work out, like a lot. Maybe not enough O2 being processed?

When I go out to eat I will still order, let's say a burger, but only eat half, and or with out the bun. Maybe just a few french fries instead of the entire plate. I get a to go box and take it home. If no one wants it I feed it to the dog. It is a shame to waste it. Usually if guys are around they are more than happy to…

Sorry about the all caps question, my cap key on the work computer was stuck or jammed...I couldn't uncaps lock....didnt mean to appear to "scream" at anyone. Different computer today....again sorry if it offended.

I haven't given up anything ..... except for quitting....I am no longer a quitter like I used to be. If I put a pound on I keep tracking, exercising, etc. I used to just quit if a pound came on and then totally go off my diet. Now I realize that if I keep it up usually the following week another pound comes off anyway. I…

I am also aiming for 10,000 steps. Do we calculate those steps into our activity log even though they are not all aerobic steps?

Thanks a heap! I will nit pick my food diary and try keeping my sugars down...I havent tried that. I love my sugars....and treats so I thought if I didnt go over my calories I could have my goodies ...all in moderation. But what the heck, tracking my sugars might work so thanks!

Thanks so much, I appreciate the feed back. I am so hesitant to eat more than the 1200 cal because of other articles I have read. For instance, and I hate the fact that I entertain such notions but...celebrity workouts...Jessica Biel eats 1200 cal a day and works out for 1 1/2 hours three times a week (interval training I…
