You know I actually feel sorry for these people. May God forgive them, if our fasting is scary, then what do they call this: http://muslimvillage.com/2014/07/07/55412/daily-mail-caught-stirring-up-extremist-on-muslim-internet-forum/ Media keeps brainwashing these poor souls, and they think Muslims are to blame. So sad.

What's scary?

And of course the original poster is gonna count his/her calories. Nobody signed up on MFP and said "my goal is to consume 5000 calories worth of fruits daily"! Lol.

Fruit has a lot of fiber, which slows down your body's digestion of glucose, so you don't get the crazy insulin spike (and subsequent crash) that candy causes. That also means your body has more time to use up glucose as fuel before storing it -- as fat. I know that if I have 200 calories left for the day, and I want to…

Don't worry about the natural sugar in fresh fruits, they also come with enough fiber to digest it properly. It's the processed sugar you need to worry about (candies, cakes etc). That's the real killer. Fruits eat as many as you want.

Thank you. Yeah, only 2 days left I am so excited! I don't think I can handle eating a big meal after Iftar, let alone after Taraweeh, but exercising before Iftar sounds tempting, especially cycling that time, cycling seems very easy to me compared to the other stuff I do, but only thirst would be the issue, which is why…

Thank you, yes waking up earlier to workout is best I think, as my breakfast will be my biggest meal. I just hope I don't get too much sleep deprived. In all honesty, cycling does make me more thirsty, but Yoga in combination with strength training / weights is more intense for me, so... Maybe I leave the intense stuff in…

Thanks, yeah that sounds good actually. I find it very hard eating in the nights (feeling bloated, hard time sleeping etc), so I'm gonna probably eat light when breaking fast too. Here in Cyprus fast starts 3:48 in the morning, and iftar is 8:04 I think. In sha Allah we will manage. Thank you for your tips.

If you were on a very low calorie deficit before, that could explain it. It also depends what you are eating and how much water you are consuming. A look at your diary (just for yesterday only) shows a lot of sweeteners, chocolate products, and all at the wrong time of day. You need to eat real food, you need a strong…

The only thing that helped my stomach area is a LOT of exercise, and avoiding stuff like potato chips, french fries, anything that can give me a lot of water retention. But it's mostly the exercise, 1 hour of cycling (at 25km per hour speed), 35 minutes of Yoga Meltdown (combination of yoga/flexibility and strength…

@bunnydumpling, thank you so much for your insights. The reason I mentioned pork, is because pigs eat their own (and others') feces. So yeah, we don't really know what we are eating unless we research it. But I can't stop meat completely, as I feel worse if I take the vegetarian route, so I stick to chicken meat (skin…

I used to have PCOS. This may not work for all, but here's what I did that helped me: 1. Lovage seed (ajwain) tea. You can find it in Indian stores. I was taking 4 cups a day for a year. Now that I'm fine, reduced to 1 cup a day. 2. Masturin herbal syrup. Again from Indian stores. 2 teaspoons every night before going to…

This is good stuff. Very good to know. My max also is 150. My normal resting heart rate is 70, but in the nights it can drop to 50, and when that happens I feel my heart pounding and have a hard time sleeping. Don't know if it's something I have to check out. But really good advice and facts, thank you for posting.

This. I do cycling around 5:30 in morning. Wakes me up, feel refreshed, and it's not as "hard-working' as weight lifting. So I leave my weight-lifting and yoga for later during the day, whenever I find some time. And if I don't, at least I'm happy that I did my cardio early in the morning, so I don't have to worry about…

I do the same, and so far it works great for me.

Warm milk. Stops my hunger, helps me sleep better too.

By the way, am I the only one here who sees all these waffle pictures, and doesn't feel a thing? I must have forgotten what a sweet craving feels like.

Of course you can have ice cream. You can even have it every single day if you like. Just not the whole factory lol. Eat a huge breakfast and a decent lunch first, and leave your cravings at the end of the day. You will feel eating less of it, and you'll be able to calculate how much according to how many calories you have…

That's why I have a rule "never bake sweet stuff in home". You know, cookies, cakes, etc. Because of the effort in making them, we tend to make too much of it, and we feel sorry throwing it away, or leaving it for many days to go bad, so we tend to overeat something that is already unhealthy. Cook only your breakfast,…

What worked for me is Anthony Carillo's Iron Yoga, it's power yoga with dumbbells. I use the 3kg ones, you can really feel the pain in your chest muscles.
-
Thanks, that sounds good. I did my one hour yoga yesterday, so today as per your advice I did one hour of cycling at low pace. I loved it! Doing both things on different days will probably keep me from getting bored as well.

I also hate people who force anybody to do anything. One thing I've learned from this though is, you shouldn't let anything or anybody ruin your judgment. Do whatever makes you happy, and whatever you think is right. It's your life.

Exactly. I have some friends who are as extreme and they don't even pray or read the Quran, but they still try (in a non-muslim country) to convert everybody to Islam, thinking that they will save their souls and go to heaven this way. And this represents Islam in the wrong way. This is exactly the opposite of what Allah…

In Quran it states, if woman is on her time of month, and if anybody is ill, they're not supposed to fast or pray. It's not optional (like, I know I'm diabetic or on my menses, but I will still fast), you must not fast. In Quran every verse starts "In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most MERCIFUL". God knows and sees…

This. I'm also a Muslim (converted from Orthodox Christian 3-4 years ago), and I totally agree, if your mother is forcing you to Islam, then your mother is not a proper Muslim. Another thing to add here, is that during Ramadan, my stomach shrinks (both outside and inside) and not only I don't feel bloated anymore, it…

If you're taking birth control pills, it could be possible that your copper levels are raised. I was taking the birth control pills for many years, and they had this effect, and copper toxicity is a bad thing. And of course, it got so worse when I tried the copper IUD (silly me), that I had to remove it immediately, so it…

Thank you for your reply. 5 25-minute workouts sound great! How do I join this group?

I was feeling the same way, and with a toddler and an infant, it's hard. Now I'm giving myself a good boost, by eating a large breakfast in the morning that includes a lot of fruits. Fruits have iron and vitamins to keep you going. Also don't stop eating meat. It's necessary for your body. Make sure you are taking more…

Wake up. -Take a shower. -Pray. -Drink 3 cups of water and 1 cup of psyllium husk water. -Make 2-3 cups of tea. -Make and have my huge breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 2-3 fruits, 2-3 carrots, 1 cup of hot milk and 1 bowl of cereals with milk. -Take my vitamins. -Bathroom stop (a big stop, 3 cups of water clears everything!…

You could focus more exercise to those areas. I found modifying or adding a few extra yoga poses or aerobics/toning moves seem to help a lot. Some yoga poses that seem to help a lot is the tree (balance) pose and the warrior sequence. Also a lot of repeats of Yoga Meltdown poses from Jillian Michaels are great. You can…
