  • Hello! I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian and would love to be MFP friends with a few other vegetarians. Since our diet is different than meat eaters, it'll be great to share advice, recommendations, problem solve etc. I often think a vegetarian shouldn't be over weight, but tada! Hoping to find some support on here.
  • When I got my Polar FT4 I thought the numbers seemed lower than what MFP says, or than what my other HRM said w/o a chest strap. What I was told is HRM's w/o a chest strap, or programs like MFP base everything on an AVERAGE vs an ACTUAL rate. Its kind of a bummer to see the numbers as less than what you had accounted for,…
  • Knee pain is the pits! I've had 5 knee surgeries on my left kee (first surgery was similar to yours) & recently was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my knee. I'm currently waiting to see if Synvisc injections work, if not, it's a knee replacement for me too. Are you doing any PT? They have me doing some strength…
  • Yep, I did water aerobics with a broken toe, and did do it a few weeks ago. Was sore after but it is a safe exercise and plan to do it at least one time per week. I belong to the YMCA here, and it's one of the free classes available to members.
  • Yes, I have to embrace my new normal-- I'm still angry at said new normal!!
  • Congrats! I've been vegetarian since November now and feel great!! If you are on Facebook, you can get info w/ Vegetarian Times and a few other sites. You can go to www.fatfreevegan.com (I'm not vegan, but I'll take their recipes) to sign up for 1 recipe a day that is emailed to you. There are many sites out there that you…
  • BTW, good luck Adamswife01 with your appt today. And yes, I did water aerobics on Saturday at the Y :)
  • Thanks all! Aha, there are people my age range!! It's so frustrating when I feel alone w/ it all because of my age. So, this is a nice support :) Yep, I am sure praying and looking for some support that way. I have always leaned toward using the more upright bike, but I will try the recumbant, you are right, it does put…
  • I have the Mio Motivo Petite... no chest strap & reasonably priced. It's very accurate and I've been happy with it-- about $70 off of Amazon
  • I have been stuck at the same weight (-.5, +.3, -1, etc). I was doing 1650 calories a day (see earlier post) & was getting changes in my body shape, but not showing on the scale. My average calorie burn was at least 700/ day. Saw a dietician, and she had me increase to 1800 calories/ day. That was on a Friday, and weighed…
  • I was struggling with this too. I was eating around 1650 calories a day and exercising like crazy-- sometimes burning 1300 calories a day, but the average was 700-800/ day. My body was changing, but the scale would only go down .5 one week and up .4 the next or so. I made a chart from MFP-- calories in, calories burned=…
  • Does your monitor have a percentage next to your heart rate? If it does, you want to try to stay above 75% as much as possible (but not exceeding 90%) to get a good fat burn from your work outs. Depedns on the montior if you have to wear a chest strap-- I looked for one that you didn't have to wear the strap with-- so I…
