And yes, if you exercise, you should eat back some of those calories depending on how you're calculating the calories burned. MFP overestimates.

I'm nursing an almost two-year-old and a month of tracking calorie intake and output (Fitbit) shows that I'm probably still burning around 400 calories just nursing and she eats table food well and only nurses at night and on weekends. I'd bump yourself up to MFP's maintenance for you and see how much you're losing, then…

I would start by making healthy food choices and giving your body the best nutrients/building blocks you can so it can heal. I don't think that a deficit is recommended when recovering from major surgery. I'd probably wait until you're cleared for exercise to eat under your maintenance calories. You could still calculate…

When was the last time you had your thyroid levels checked? I get insanely hungry and feel lightheaded when my levels swing toward hyper and require a med adjustment.

This was most helpful for me: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/breastfeeding_calorie_calculator.htm

You all can add me. Soon to be upper 30s (whimper) with a 4- and 2-year-old.

I would probably increase your calories by adding in healthy fats like mentioned above. A handful of almonds or almond butter with an apple, avocado, etc. Almonds are a galactogogue. My nursing daughter is almost 2 and I'm just now eating around 1900 calories a day and she only nurses a few times a day. Your baby might…

My daughter will be two next month and if she has her way she'll never wean. Though... I sort of like having the extra calories to eat, so I'm not pushing it too hard. :D Feel free to add me for support! I don't have any tips. My daughter goes to daycare and only nurses in the evenings/night during the week and whenever…

I'm 5'6" and petite framed. I'm at (about) goal. I fluctuate between 128-133. I'd like to get my body fat percentage down a bit, though I don't know what it is exactly right now, but I'm sure it's above 22%.

Or bathed one... or carried two screaming ones in to/out of daycare. Now that was a workout!

I found this helpful after I had my daughter: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/breastfeeding_calorie_calculator.htm It factors in a deficit, but it also factors in the amount an average woman burns creating milk. Almonds are great for milk production and a tasty snack. I also had a problem avoiding sweets and ravenously…

I've got a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old and a 45-minute commute each way. I feel your pain. If I can, I try to squeeze in time on my stationary bike before dinner, but that rarely happens. I do 15 to 20 minutes of yoga after the youngest goes to bed and I try to get up and walk around at work as much as I can. I try to be…

Maybe save enough calories for a yogurt or some fruit with peanut butter or some other quiet, quick snack?
-
It shouldn't make a difference to your weight loss when you eat. I'd only change things if you feel ill while working out or are ravenous afterward. Your life sounds just about like mine, only my kids are 4 and 2.

Thanks, computer glitch, for posting that twice.

La Leche League recommends breastfeeding moms get 1800-2000 calories a day. I found this calculator really handy. It calculates a deficit for a steady loss and includes the average amount of calories breastfeeding moms burn creating milk: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/breastfeeding_calorie_calculator.htm

You can add me. I have a 4 yo and a not-quite-2-yo who apparently is never going to self-wean or even cut back... I'm so freaking hungry all the time STILL.
-
Me! This is my fourth or so time coming back. I'm just trying to reign in the eating like a field hand that I've grown accustomed to since having my second child... two years ago. I need more friends if anyone wants to add me.

I have an almost 3-year-old and a 6-month-old. Work full-time. I'm 35. I've lost the baby #2 weight. I'm still working on baby #1 weight. Feel free to add me. I understand not having a single minute in the day to devote to yourself.

Feel free to add me as a friend.

Make changes slowly. Find one thing you can change this week that you'll stick to and do that for a week, then add something else. That's worked the best for me. Too many changes at once is overwhelming when you're sleep deprived. Also, don't give up if you have one slip-up. Dust yourself off and go back to your plan. My…

Definitely ask to get your thyroid levels checked. There is such a thing as postpartum thyroiditis. It's nearly identical to autoimmune thyroiditis and can affect 5-10% of women in the first year postpartum. Your levels can swing from really hyper to very hypo within about six months. On another note, are you sure the…

I want to EAT ALL THE FOOD! Or rather for the first 4 months I did, but I was also dealing with insanely hyper thyroid levels, so that might have been some of the cause. My hunger is finally starting to die down at 5 months pp. I never lost all of my first pregnancy weight and only breastfed for six months. I was about…

http://www.freedieting.com/tools/breastfeeding_calorie_calculator.htm That calculator includes a 15% deficit to help moms lose weight, so you might add another 200 calories to whatever it gives you. Make sure you're drinking lots of fluids. That helps when my supply dips. Gatorade really helps some women. Fenugreek,…

Cut yourself and your body some slack. Pregnancy is hard on the body and how quickly it bounces back depends mostly on genetics. 16 pounds is awesome! Being sleep deprived can affect weight loss (mostly by causing cravings for sugar and carbs). Just keep doing what you're doing, but give yourself a longer timeline. It took…

Have her ask her doctor to run her thyroid levels. Pregnancy can do a number on the thyroid. I had autoimmune thyroiditis before pregnancy. After each pregnancy, I've gone extremely hyperthyroid for the first 5 months pp and then my immune system switches on and starts attacking my thyroid again and I go extremely hypo. I…

My period returned with my son at three months pp last time (I was exclusively pumping) and it was totally regular, so I don't have any expertise in irregular ones. I did however have multiple anxiety and asthma attacks while weaning at around 6 months. My thyroid also went extremely hypo around the same time, though I…

"Would you like to make dinner tomorrow?" "Wow, you're really rude." "Here's a number to a hotel..."

I was managing to get in a quick 20-minute workout two-three times a week for about a month either while dinner was cooking or as soon as my husband got home from work so he could watch the kids. Then last week I tweaked my back getting my daughter and her carseat out of the car (she's 4 months old). It seems every night…

LOL thanks for the calorie replies. I'm eating between 2100-2300 most days and still utterly famished, but also losing weight so I guess I'll keep it at that level and see what happens with my supply. I've been doing other HIIT workouts but not as often as I would 30DS. I did level one today. Oof.
