I'm with you on this. Just found out a good friend at work is terminal and I had actually commented on her weight loss several months ago - feel like a total jerk now. I have lost 80 lbs. and mainly it is women at work who make comments - the guys not so much.

Congratulations on losing 140 lbs - what an accomplishment! I have lost 80 lbs. and have been wondering the same thing. My belly isn't bad but I have bat wings and turkey neck. The arms can be covered up but not the neck. I am turning 60 this next week so I know age has a lot to do with it. From what I have been able to…

Congratulations Susan! I have done pretty much the same thing. Will be 60 in January, had a full hysterectomy in Nov. 2011 and my eating was just out of control. Counting every single thing I eat or drink and walking every single day has done it for me. I now eat whole, organic foods and stay away from sugar as much as…

Because my picker is broke! Long term relationships failed because they were very dysfunctional - my bad - I picked 'em. These days I prefer dating younger men and not trying to find "the one".

Date is wrong - January 6, 2013 - coming up on one year using MFP.

There is an excellent article about sugar in the August 2013 National Geographic. It explains why we are so addicted to it and the massive amounts we consume in processed foods. There are good fats and not so good fats and consuming the good fat can help you feel full and more satisfied. Carbs and sugar just leave you…

I am 5'9" and started in January of this year at 247.5 lbs - have lost 78 lbs to date and my goal is 160 by my birthday in January. According to the charts I am big boned so this is a good weight for me. I have been 150 before and it was not a comfortable weight.

You look amazing! Congratulations and keep up the good work.

I have lost 78 lbs and the only problem areas I have are my neck and my upper arms. Because I am almost 60 I guess that is to be expected. My daughter is a fitness instructor and she wants me to get in the gym and do strength training - she said that will help. Also drinking lots of water. In the end, I would much rather…

When I first started MFP walking was all I could do and I have continued that as I have lost. I have been logging in every day since January 6, 2012 and have lost 78 lbs. Let me add that I also count my calories and have completely cut sugar out of my diet. Walking has saved my life but I am ready to do some additional…

I had heart surgery to repair a faulty valve in July of 2011. The recovery was very hard and I piled on weight. When I went for my annual check up last year I asked my cardiologist how long the repair would last and she said that depended on me - needed to keep my weight down, exercise and eat right - that's all I needed…

I had been wanting a Fitbit Flex and was so happy I won one at work! I absolutely love it. It has really got me moving more and it syncs with MFP which is really great. There is no magic to it but it can be very motivating - at least it has been for me.

I have been at 1200 calories a day since I started MFP in January of this year - total loss to date is 73.5 lbs. I eat very well and do not feel hungry because I make sure to eat whole foods, not processed, and keep my nutrition balanced. Two key factors for me were cutting sugar out of my diet and greatly reducing sodium.…

When I started MyFitnessPal I decided to completely give up sugar. For me it had become a serious problem and I knew it was one of the keys to losing weight. Fruit has sugar and I eat it in moderation but my body processes that differently than white sugar. I have lost 60 lbs. since January 6, 2013 by eating whole foods,…

I have been on 1200 calories a day since I started in January. I do use the extra calories I earn for exercise, at least most of them.

Congratulations on your amazing success! I will check out your FB page when I am on my home computer.

Hi and welcome! I am pretty new also - will be turning 59 this month and have gained a great deal of weight over the past 2 years so I really related. So far I have really been doing great on here and am just taking the fitness part slow. Getting my eating under control was the first step and that is going well. Good luck…

I lost 35 lbs. before my daughter's wedding last year but gained it all back plus a few pounds. The worst part was the loss of muscle - I am struggling to get my energy and strength back. I would not recommend this diet to anyone - ever.
