  • I have stalled out for as long as three weeks. It happens. If you are weighing and measuring all your food, and are in a deficit, you will start losing again.
  • Logged 16 miles today! Go Team MFP!
  • Same here. I was on it for quite a while and the side effects were absolutely horrible! When I was on it I lost a ton of weight because all food tasted awful to me. I was surviving on meal replacement shakes. I got all these symptoms plus tingling/numbness in my hands, as if they would suddenly go to sleep. But the worst…
  • My home made pizza comes out at 292 calories for 1/8, so depending what you put on it, that does sound reasonable. Mine has pesto, spinach, ricotta and mozz, crust from scratch.
  • I can see 6 team members, and I can see that your ride today is logged, so it's working for me, anyhow.
  • I find that if I wait to eat until I'm famished then I overeat. As soon as I feel hungry I eat something healthy. Lots of small meals works for me, but as usual YMMV.
  • Signed up already, will look for the MFP team now! Rainy today so was on the trainer, but expect to start tomorrow!
  • I love my old Trek 950! Bought it new in 1990, just had it overhauled this spring. I will have to take a photo. Edited to add it might be an '89, as I remember it was on sale as "last season's model" at the time. ; )
  • I've quit for four years, using e-cigs. I didn't gain anything at all during the first 2 years. The weight came along after, so I can't blame quitting smoking. But at least I can exercise much easier!
  • I don't use it as much for cooking, but I can tell you it makes a fabulous moisturizer! I thought for sure it would be greasy, and make my face break out, but it doesn't.
  • I agree on starting slower. When I started, it was all I could do to ride for 15 minutes on the bike trainer, and I got tired walking less than a mile. Now 3 months later, I can ride my bike outside for over an hour, and walk 3 miles in an hour, and I do one or the other 6 days per week. I think if I had tried for more…
  • If you know how many miles (or fraction of a mile) you walked you can do the math and estimate your speed. For example, if I can walk 3 miles in one hour, my pace is averaging 3 mph. If I walk 1.5 miles in a half hour, or one mile in 20 minutes, same thing, 3 mph.
  • My well water here tastes terrible! So yeah I add some flavoring to my water. Generic Mio or diet decafe iced tea mix. I don't think it's the best thing, but better than not drinking enough.
  • Back in the day, I tried a program that did similar with tracking when you smoked. Didn't work. Nothing did until I found e-cigs four years ago. Haven't smoked since.
  • Love Salt and Vinegar chips! For while they had dill pickle flavored Lay's chips and I really loved those too. I also crave Walker's Prawn Crisps, but due to being in the US, I'm rarely able to indulge in them. I have tried ketchup flavored chips and crab seasoning chips which were both good. I saw hamburger and hot dog…
  • Angelfood! I make a dozen cupcakes instead of a whole cake, the batch is smaller, and they are pre-portioned. They were less than 100 calories each last time I made some. Also meringue cookies. Not totally low cal but lower than most things.
  • I am 5' 2" and am shooting for 140 pounds to start. Once I get there I will most likely maintain for a bit and see whether I want to try to lose another 10. My best adult weight has been between 125-135, but I'm older now. *sighs* I am not small framed person, anything under 125 and I start to look sickly.
  • I know it's heresy but I also leave out the pine nuts. The are just too damn expensive anyhow. I used to sub in pumpkin seeds, but don't even bother anymore. Also basil freezes pretty well. I put mine in the food processor with a bit of olive oil, put in plastic ziplocs, and store it flat in the freezer. Easy to break off…
  • I keep a candy jar on top of my refrigerator. It's above eye level for me, so I don't "see" it unless I'm looking for it. I like to stick to things that are easily counted out into portions, like jelly beans, mint patties, mini chocolate bars. I take my serving and then put the jar back. I make sure I have a variety of…
  • You can try using electrode gel on the band instead of water, that might help?
  • This. I'm 5' 2". I feel like I gain somewhat all over, but mostly belly and thighs.
  • Went for a bike ride today despite the fact that it is raining and 40 degrees out! It really wasn't bad at all, and it sure was peaceful out there. Got 11.5 miles done in an hour, not bad at all! ScottG I find riding my mountain bike to be not bad on my back as I am leaning forward somewhat. Depending on where you are most…
  • Going to have to try that portobello mushroom cap pizza idea as well, that does look yummy! But today I'm making REAL pizza, thin crust, pesto, ricotta, spinach, and mozz. It's not that bad calorie wise per slice.
  • I use my HRM for both walking and biking. I really like it! I have the Polar F7. Walking I burn a bit more than I thought, and biking a bit less. I find it to be a really good motivator.
  • I'm right there with yah! I have back and hip issues as well, and have for 20+ years. I can't run, but I can walk, and am getting back into biking. I find that biking is even easier on my back and hip than walking. Had a back episode a few weeks ago and got really bummed out, but am back at it, and feeling OK. It's very…
  • The only way to be fairly accurate is to use a HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) with chest strap. The Polar F7 is reasonably priced and water resistant for swimming.
  • I got a wired Cateye cycle computer for $20 on amazon. Very easy to install and tracks everything but the calories burned. I use a polar F7 HRM to track calories. Very happy with both!
  • When making whole wheat breads or those that have sugar/honey, I find that the outside crust gets too brown before the inside is fully cooked. I cover the loaf with some foil and bake it longer, this seems to work well for me. Edited to add I always use "instant" yeast, which you do add with the other dry ingredients, no…
