  • +1 for Happy Herbivores. Not vegan anymore, but I've been vegetarian for the last decade or so.
  • That sounds very high. I'll burn about that on a 9-10 mile run, which takes me a little over 2 hours.
  • I also have a self-propelled mower, and I log it as walking, as you mentioned.
  • Everyone is different. I started out pretty heavy and have been losing at about 1-1.5 lbs week (faster at the beginning, slower now as I have less to lose) and it's taken me roughly 7.5 months to lose 40 lbs. YMMV.

  • SW 285 CW 228 GW 200? (more interested in body fat than a final weight, honestly) I got down to about where I am now about 5 years ago, then fell back into bad habit as work/life/the universe got super stressful. Mostly, I'm calorie counting. I'm also back into running (currently training for a half marathon), although…
  • I started with Vaseline thinking the same thing, but the weird nipple stains on my run shirts proved larger and more upsetting than I'd expected. Admittedly, I've got pretty bad social anxiety, which doesn't help.
  • As others have said, long slow runs over longer distances are probably the best way to improve pace over shorter distances, with some speed work mixed in as a secondary. Like you, I'd been out of the running game for several years when I started back up in January. My 5k time in March was around 40 minutes. Since then,…
  • The only change I've made as I've started approaching half marathon distance is bringing run fuel with me to get accustomed to digesting as I run and to test out options. As for the pain, I agree with everyone else that it sounds like a side stitch.
  • I absolutely can't make myself get up earlier to work out before work in the mornings (I prefer to run in daylight), but on weekends, my long runs are always first thing in the morning. I'll wake up (usually around 7 or 8), feed the dogs, put on my running gear and head out. I run fasted, but with a bottle of water and…
  • Right back at you. How am I supposed to be solitary if I don't actually have the right to be solitary? No one is forcing you to be solitary, just to respect someone else's desire not to engage in whatever social interaction you seem to believe you are owed.
  • It's been discussed. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10755119/security-breach#latest
  • That's kind of ableist of you, to be honest. I'm autistic and have massive social anxiety. It takes massive effort to be social, which is effort that I need to put into my workouts instead if I'm at the gym. I don't owe you a response just because you want one. Not everyone draws benefit from random interactions with…
  • Body glide has been my savior when it comes to preventing chafing. I tried Vaseline in the past, and it was effective, but I started getting weird stains on my running shirts so I switched and haven't had the problem since.
  • I've recently discovered Rhythm Superfoods Dried Carrot Sticks. They're basically just dried carrots, but the process helps to bring out the little bit of sweet in carrots, plus they have the chip-like crunch. At 140 calories a bag (and 11g fiber), they've become a go-to for me.
  • I too weigh myself most to every day on Libra so that I can see the trend lines (plus it takes a lot of the pressure off from any individual weigh in).
  • I've got my first half marathon scheduled for just before Thanksgiving, so pretty much that. I want to finish getting my distance up from 10k, as well as to keep dropping weight slowly and getting my BP down a little more.
  • As everyone else has said, you have to start slow. I was about 275 lbs when I started the C25k program back in January. I used to be a runner, but I fell into bad habits for five or six years and gained a lot of weight. The first workout is six sets of 1 minute jogging followed by 1.5 minutes walking. It was exhausting and…
  • Not sure I follow the question entirely. To my knowledge, there aren't really any effects of when you're eating. If you're referring to the option of tracking the time that you are logging foods, I believe that you can add the info as a note. Otherwise, I think what you're describing is a premium feature.

  • Depends on your definition. I'm training for a half marathon, so my long run days can burn an extra 1200+ calories, which means I can eat a lot of things I normally can't easily fit into my day, but I still stay within my calorie goal for the day.
  • Spent a day in Asheville and ate my face off. I'd done a long run the night before, so I actually stayed in my calories, but I ate a lot of food in a small window, which was a lot richer and saltier than usual, so I gained about 10 lbs overnight. It's been 8 days, and it's come off at about 1-1.5 lbs/day.
  • The only time I've tried this was in prep for a colonoscopy. I was miserable and ravenous the whole time. Definitely not something I'd do of my own free will.
  • I tried BlueApron and Hello Fresh. Both were good for a while, but I found the meals to get repetitive after a while (especially for the vegetarian options), and also found the quality of the ingredients slipping as time wore on. I do still use some of the recipes that were included on my own. The 30 minutes thing is a…
  • I kept the standard 24 hour period when I was switching between day, night, and swing shifts regularly. I'd log it as whatever meal I was eating from my perspective, but applying it out of order to the current 24 hour period. So my first meal of a given diary day would be my lunch at 12:30 am. I'd get home and have dinner…
  • Not for a few more days, I think. I read somewhere that the official nationwide release is Aug. 8.
  • I tend to avoid them lately because most of them are sodium bombs. Given that I'm working on getting my blood pressure down, that makes them difficult to work into my macros for the day. If you don't have that problem, then do what works for you. I used them more frequently before my weight gain drove my blood pressure up.
  • Check out the Happy Herbivores group. Lots of vegetarians and vegans there.
  • During the week, I'll usually shower before leaving for work and then again after my runs in the evening (I'm a very heavy sweater and I will definitely break out if I don't). On the weekends, I'll usually run as soon as I get up and shower after, so just the one. My skin is heavily inclined towards being oily, so even…
  • Is it possible they were importing their recipes from their website into MFP? I've done that with a few of the Blue Apron meals (mostly the ones I've continued to make after cancelling the service). If so, you wouldn't be able to access their recipes from your account. It might be worth reaching out to the company and…
  • Nicely done! As others have said, don't worry too much about pace this early. Work on running longer distances slowly, and you'll find your shorter distances getting faster. I took about 4 minutes off my 5k time between the beginning of April and the end of May mostly by working longer runs at a comfortable pace (although…
