  • I've vegetarian or vegan for the last 14 years. Diary is open if anyone wants to poke around.
  • I was about to suggest this as a supplement to conventional treatment and meds. I've been using one for awhile now, and have found it to be somewhat helpful. It's not enough by itself, but it can be a much-needed boost.
  • I've been vegetarian or vegan for the last 14 years now, and my diary is open if anyone wants to poke around. I've been working with a dietitian the last few months to help get my macros and micros in better shape, which has been more important as I've gotten serious about running. I'm active on the diary side but not so…
  • Be careful with this. I've been vegetarian for over a decade now, several years of that as a vegan. Plant based in general, but vegan in particular can have difficulty getting enough fat in order to uptake all necessary nutrients. I've seen it happen to people, so you'll need to be very thoughtful about what you're eating…
  • I bought a reflective chest harness to wear for my evening runs. I don't use a light since there are enough streetlights where I run for me to see fine; I'm just worried about drivers not seeing me.
  • Check your data on the website. It's possible that your phone isn't sending the data to the servers.
  • You could try the Nike Run app. They can create a custom plan based on your current pace, your goal distance, and the time allotted. Otherwise, run/walk is a definite safe bet.
  • I did the app until the last few runs, where I just went based on the distance (since I was moving a little slower than the app expected). I've since changed over to the Nike run app, which I like better. It has options for a lot of different distances (I'm using it for a half marathon), and it will tell you your pace and…
  • Also autistic here. Feel free to add if you like.
  • Check out the Happy Herbivores group. There's a lot of veg type people there, which might be useful to. And definitely check out the stickies.
  • Agreed with the above. Talk to him and tell him how what he's doing makes you feel. He might be feeling competitive, he might be jealous, he might be worried that he's losing you, he might be trying to connect by offering something similar to show he understands. Without communicating, there's no way for you to know, and…
  • Back at the start, I promised myself that I could get the tattoo I wanted once I'd lost enough weight for it to look good. 50 lbs later, I'm about 5 lbs from that goal , so I'm pretty stoked. I'm itching for some ink.
  • That was one of my big motivators. I'm 5 lbs from the goal I set to get my tattoo, so I'm pretty excited.
  • It took me a week for my weight to normalize after treating myself in Asheville, and I didn't even technically go over my calories. I just had a lot of extra from running the day before banked, and the food I was eating was much richer and saltier than I'm used to. Give it time.
  • Depends on how low your salt numbers are, but I suspect you're fine. There is a minimum threshold of salt intake needed for your body to function properly, but unless you're a serious, hardcore athlete or really, really overdoing it on the water, you're probably fine. If you're worried about it, keep an eye on your…
  • Find what works for you. I weight anywhere from daily to several times a week on the Libra app, which provides a trendline of my weigh ins. It smooths out the fluctuations and gives me a better sense of how I'm doing day to day. Once a week (usually Saturdays), I'll do an "official" weigh in first thing in the morning,…
  • The program will give you total calories needed each day to maintain a healthy deficit, as well as giving you a rough idea of the macros (protein, fat, etc) you should be aiming for each day, but the individual breakdowns of how you eat, when you eat, and so on are up to you. There's a lot of good information in the forums…
  • I've got my diary set to public, so anyone who wishes can feel free to nose around
  • Greek yogurt is an easy one (I like to mix in high fiber cereal for some low-cal added crunch plus fiber). In a pinch, I'll use Clif Builder Bars or Quest bars for some on-the-go easy protein.
  • I'm training for my first half in November. Full marathon is on the bucket list once I get comfortable with a half.
  • I've was vegan for about two years and have been vegetarian for over a decade. +1 for Happy Herbivores group. I take iron, B12, and omega 3 (although my dietitian rolled his eyes a little at the first two, but it seemed a prudent precaution). There are all kinds of great recipes and recipe books out there, and most…
  • I tend to weigh myself daily on the Libra app, which provides a trendline over time that can help ease the stress of daily fluctuations. I only log my "official" weight once a week, which is Saturday morning, first thing after using the bathroom, and naked to get the most consistent results.
  • Trader Joe's High fiber. It's pretty tasty and, at 80 calories and 9g fiber, a really great way to boost daily fiber. I eat it most mornings mixed with Greek yogurt.
  • It's not far from that. Waaaaay too sweet for me.
  • I've liked most of them, but the new Birthday Cake flavor is awful. It's pretty much exactly as advertised, which is a weird flavor to drink. Gave it a shot, never again.
  • I don't care much for breakfast, but often get a little snacky an hour or two before lunch, so my dietitian recommended a cup of Greek yogurt with high fiber cereal mixed in (I prefer the Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal, which is only 80 calories a serving and surprisingly sweet given the fiber content). It's simple and…
  • Assuming your 30% fat number is coming from the MFP macros, I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's laid out a little confusing, but some of the items are better thought of as minimum goals (such as protein, fiber, and fat). Going over the 30% mark isn't a problem, so long as you're hitting your other goals and getting all of…
  • I'm personally a big fan of pea protein milk over the other alternatives. Search out vegan recipes - there are a lot of good replacement ideas for dairy.
  • Diary is open to the public, and I just hit the 50 lbs mark.
  • I'd talk to a dietitian. My wife has diverticulitis, and the recommendations are pretty much exactly opposite depending on if you're mid-flare up or not (high fiber most of the time, very low fiber during a flare up). We're talking to a dietitian tomorrow about a number of dietary issues, including this.
