Tracking Glycemic Index
My wife was just diagnosed as prediabetic, so we're scrambling to figure things out. We're already planning to go see a dietician, but in the meantime, I was curious if anyone here knew of a convenient way to track the glycemic index of someone's meals. As far as I know, MFP can't track this stat, but I figure there's got…

Hangry
[rant] I'm a few days into a diet break, so I've been eating at maintenance after 6 months in a deficit, and I am suddenly ravenous. I'd gotten used to my routine, and my appetite had been dragged along for the ride, but now that I'm eating more, it's come roaring back with a vengeance. It's fine, I can handle it, but I'm…

Peachtree Road Race and Free Beer
Anyone else getting up stupid early on their day off to go run the Peachtree Road Race in the heat and humidity tomorrow? If so, I saw an ad in Creative Loafing saying that The Lawrence will be giving a free beer to anyone with a valid race number until noon tomorrow. Cheers, and see you out there.

pedometer recommendation requested
Does anyone have a recommendation of a good, cheap pedometer or a free pedometer app for droid? My fiancé wants to start using one, but isn’t sure she’ll use it so she doesn’t want to drop the cash for something like a fitbit. Something that can estimate calories based on height/weight/gender would probably be ideal, but…

Bench Press Question
I am reaching a point in my lifting progression where there is a reasonable chance that, during my last set on bench press, that I will lower the bar and not be able to clear it again. I have not been able to get a lifting partner, so that’s out. When I go to the gym typically, there are not many people present and most…

Tough Mudder Question
I am running my first Tough Mudder tomorrow morning. I feel pretty good about it, but had one specific question that I figured someone here who had done one before might be able to answer. Specifically, I’m wondering whether it is in my best interest to run with a shirt or without one. Given the water obstacles at the…

Atlanta D&D game
I've been invited to a new D&D 3.5 game being played in Atlanta, but several of the other players have backed out of the commitment, so the DM is looking for new players to fill the open slots. I know it's a long shot, but anyone on here interested and in the area?

Deadlift
I'm five weeks into Stronglifts 5x5, and yesterday I deadlifted my own bodyweight. I'm stoked. That's something I haven't been able to do since highschool (and I weighed a lot less then). Next up, squatting my own bodyweight.

Trying to stay motivated
I've always had a weight problem (exacerbated by the eating habits encourage by my football coaches in middle and high school). It got worse in college as I stopped working out regularly. I brought my weight down significantly at the end of college through a combination of poverty and some (in hindisght) unhealthy eating…
