pedometer recommendation requested

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good, cheap pedometer or a free pedometer app for droid? My fiancé wants to start using one, but isn’t sure she’ll use it so she doesn’t want to drop the cash for something like a fitbit. Something that can estimate calories based on height/weight/gender would probably be ideal, but we can work without it if need be. We’re getting new phones this week, but she was constantly draining the battery on her old one, so a gps tracking app may not be the best option since it might draw too much juice.

I've been researching pedometers, and come up with two good options:
G-Sensor 2026 Accelerometer Pedometer and
Omron HJ325 Walking Style Pocket Pedometer or Alvita model
These are both accurate and best sellers. Don't bother getting a cheap $10 one, they aren't very accurate. Also consider a lanyard to stop losing it.0
