  • I think this is a personal preference. I lift heavy but I am very much a girly, girl. Meaning the callouses do not look good with my pretty nails. LOL So I wear fingerless gloves. You might have to try a few pair to find the ones that work best for you.
  • Rest does not mean you can't move...lol However, rest is an important part of any training program. This is when your body repairs itself and builds new muscle. I have a hard time on rest days as well. Remember it is part of your training program.
  • Also, do some calf raises on the edge of your mill or a step. Don't overstretch though.
  • As others have said. Make sure you are staying hydrated throughout the day. Other advice I would give: - never stretch or run with cold muscles - warm up for a bit and then do some LIGHT stretching - do your workout and then do the majority of your stretching after - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Good luck and congrats on the…
  • I love the burn . It makes me feel like I am doing something for my body. It is a reminder that I am building new strength. For example, on long run days, if I don't have some difficulty walking for a few hours after, then I didn't work hard enough. lol
  • Congratulations on your new found love for running. Go to a true running store. Have a gait analysis done and get fitted for the proper shoe for you. You may have to go through a few pair to find the ones that really work for you. Incorrect shoes can cause so many issues. Proper shoes are the foundation for healthy…
  • Oh wow, thanks for sharing this. I'm definitely going to try this. I have trouble finding my size anywhere because my cup is large in comparison to my band. Usually the smallest band size is too big. I have this problem in real bras too. It sucks.
  • Yes, you cannot spot reduce. Overall weight loss will get you there. Keep working your core now, so when the unwanted layer is gone you will have some nice abs. I'm on a mission to "find my abs" this year. I have some definition, so I always joke that I have a 2 pack and the other 4 are still in the fridge. My husband…
  • I think you would have to be lifting an insane amount of weight (or pre-existing condition) to worry about that. I do squats regularly and have never really worried about it.
  • I am in week two of Insanity. OMG - it is kicking my butt! I "thought" I was in decent cardiovascular shape, but I guess not. Today I lifted, ran, then did Insanity and I wanted to die afterwards. My only complaint is that Shaun T always waits until the last 10 minutes of each workout to remove his shirt. Doesn't he…
  • I do not think it's your size. I have "your problem" too and they don't make me winded and I run very long distances. You need to build up your endurance. I would suggest slowing down and running intervals to increase your speed. Like the other girls suggested, put the money into good sports bras, it is so worth it. And no…
  • Congratulations on your loss so far. That is great work! A note about the BMR calculators: they are only estimates. I had a metabolic evaluation test to determine my actual burn. I also wanted to know what my true heart rate training zones were to improve my running performance. My true BMR was actually more than 500…
  • I hope it is OK that I joined this group! My goals this year: Participate in: - 2 to 3 half marathons - 1 marathon - 1 warrior dash - Improve my speed - I have great endurance, but I am not that fast! - drop some lbs for health and to improve my speed - remain injury free - find a weekend running group in Minnesota (have…
  • Hi, Eight to 12 weeks should be plenty of time to train for your first 5K. There are tons of programs, as others have said. I heard the C25K is good but personally have never used it. Focus on building a good cardiovascular base and I second the suggestion to not start the training plan too soon. Eat clean and follow your…
  • I agree, confidence is a huge factor. For me, it is the number ONE turn on. You can tell a lot about a person just by the way they present themselves when they enter a room. Well said!
  • What an interesting thread! I want to play too! I think they are all beautiful, but if I had to pick only ONE, then middle! As other women have stated, my body type is also not represented here. I've got "parts" of #3 on the frame of #2 and some muscle. My hair is blonde and I am ghostly white and very short! lol! I don't…
  • Team work! I want to lose 20 by March as well, my next race. The less I weigh the faster I will be.
  • Good job so far Ann. I understand your dilemma about the "girls" Mine never seem to get the memo when I lose weight. No matter what I do they will not get smaller. If you figure out how to lose some of "that" curve, please do let me know! Makes it hard to buy clothes when you have to buy something to fit there only to have…
