We’re on lockdown here in the U.K. so I’m home with my two kids trying to work and get them to work. I keep thinking chocolate is the only answer right now. 🙈😂

Congratulations @mkculs13 !

I used it quite often until I got the Ring Fit for the Switch and now Just Dance. I didn’t take it very seriously but it was a good way to get some extra steps in.

Hi again! I meant to pop back in here sooner. I’ve lost 10kg since I got my new FitBit last November and I feel like ‘this is it’, like I can get back to the weight I was before my youngest was born over 7 years ago. But I also feel like my determination right now risks slipping into obsession. It’s going so well that I’m…

January Start Weight: 62.8kg January Goal Weight: 61g Ultimate Goal Weight: 55-57kg Dec 31: 62.8kg Jan 8: 61.5kg Jan 15: Jan 22: Jan 29: Jan 31: That was a bit of a downward ‘blip’ when I weighed myself this morning (was 62.1kg yesterday), so I would expect it to go back up a bit over the next few days. That’s why I like…

I’ve been on MyFitnessPal for 10 years and I have definitely been a serial starter since my youngest was born! Hopefully the difference this time is that I’m happy because I’m no longer with a partner who only found me attractive when I was skinny, but have a lovely boyfriend who loves all of me, whatever size I am. I hope…

There’s a book called Fat is a Feminist Issue which is quite old and addresses this in detail. I avoided reading it for years, but when I finally did it really gave my weight loss a boost. It’s super cheap online because it’s so old, and I thoroughly recommend it for helping to understand such feelings.

I don’t really like setting weight goals. Last month I set mine as not gaining, and I lost…

2.4kg (5.3lb!) for December! I think knowing I was going to post here helped. Also, I’m just at a stage where I can notice even the smallest loss in my face and body, whereas when I’m moving from podgy to slightly less podgy, I don’t really notice.

2kg down so far this month! 💪🏻 I was not expecting that, but I guess a Christmastime without parties, family or having friends round has left me a lot more control over what I eat than usual. I would normally eat to please others when they have worked hard to please me by preparing something special, but there have been no…

Been using Ring Fit on the Switch and my boyfriend just bought me Just Dance 2021 and it’s hard to resist using it. 😂

Weight loss seems to be stalling a little, for which I think I can thank late night snacks this week. Glad not to be gaining though!

Red flag I missed: When he keeps saying he wished he’d met you when you were younger (when you met in your 20s anyway) and hoards pictures of your younger self... (Took me almost 20 years to figure this one out, when I’d got too old for him to be interested anymore.)

I increased my daily calorie deficit (I use a FitBit for exercise calories) to 500kcal, because sleeping more meant I was burning less, and it seems to have worked.
-
Realised I won’t be weighing in tomorrow. Just reduced my calories slightly because sleeping more seems to make me burn less...

I don’t really understand how you got to 1900 calories. It doesn’t sound like what MyFitnessPal would suggest. Have you tried what it recommends yet?
-
I will have been using MyFitnessPal for 10 years next month. It’s amazing seeeing my weight chart and knowing what was happening at each moment: my pregnancies, gestational diabetes (no weight gain), etc. I haven’t lost what I gained from my second child, but I feel like I’m on track now that I’ve removed the stress factor…

Thinking of doing this as I’m not finding much motivation these days.

Try 2000kcal and see what happens. I lose on 2000kcal and I'm not alone in that. Do what your PT recommends and keep track of the results, and adjust accordingly. I'm sure your PT knows more about you, and your routine, than we do.

According to my Fitbit I have walked 13km today and gone up the equivalent of 67 floors. My additional burn is around 800kcal, so unless the hill is mighty steep or you're very, very heavy, 1500kcal burn sounds rather a lot

I wish school hadn't made running look so hard. 1000m was such a big deal and you got points for your team just for finishing on Sports Day. Now I realise that I could easily have run 5k back then, and maybe I could have really enjoyed it like I do now. Equally I agree that having lifted weights would have made all the…

I became anaemic for the first time in my life after losing weight rapidly on mfp, which is why I now choose to lose slowly. I think part of the issue was that calorie counting didn't make me eat more healthily, whereas other methods of weight loss always had, therefore not triggering the anaemia. I was also told I had to…

Be kind to yourself. I lost a pregnancy over Xmas a few years ago too. Let others look after you and care for yourself, and exercise and good eating can be part of that.
-
If someone on my mfp newsfeed is constantly having 'cheat' days, I would suggest they up their calorie goal to something that doesn't leave them so desperately hungry. We all need to find a sweet spot where we can sustain a deficit without it being too painful. I choose minimal pain and very slow loss, although I can eat…

The good thing with weight loss is you can always change your mind. You can lose more and if you don't like it, just eat more again. I'm intentionally losing slowly because I don't feel as able to concentrate and control my emotions when I'm hungry all the time. If your current rate of loss is comfortable to you you can do…

I lived in Japan for three years, and lost 10kg at one point. My main technique was eating lots of nattou instead of lots of cakes
-
Often the advice I read from skinnier countries (France and Japan) is to weigh daily. Works for me too, but I'm looking for trends over time, not flipping out over a single weight.
-
I kept mine last time because I wanted to be pregnant again. This time I'll either take them in (I have a sewing machine) or pass them on (charity shops for the good ones and clothes recycling for the rest). Hopefully having no clothes will help keep me slender because I hate to waste money!

I'm going to try a charm bracelet. I've not used extrinsic motivation before, but as I plan to lose slowly, I think it might help me to keep going. Because I'm already at an ok BMI, I'm rewarding every kg.
