  • He doesn't finish at a reliable time and as I don't drive it would be a long time away each evening, when there's stuff to do like cook, etc. In 2-3 years time my youngest will be in school and I plan to stay part time so I can join the gym properly again then.
  • Dumbbells would be good as I'm sure my husband would use them too and I wouldn't be as scared of dropping them on myself! I might see what Fitocracy has as dumbbell routines. I would still want whole body, I think.
  • We plan on running as a family. I work part time and my parents have the little one for half the week while I work, so all my 'baby-sitting' is used up by that. We are pretty active as a family, and I don't drive so we get a lot of walking in, but it's the strength exercise I'm missing out on. I want to up my cardio…
  • Feeling really sad to stop? (Pathetic, I know...) I like this way of seeing it. Thanks.
  • Not really with SL, as I would need all the equipment and a spotter to do it at home. I considered building a home gym in a shed, but without a spotter I'd be too scared to do low-rep weights.
  • I think the writer has probably willfully misunderstood a number of issues, or she is completely blind to the misery of others. You can want to change your body whilst also loving it, and it doesn't have to be the centre of your world for you to do so. I do agree with some of the content of what she says, but I don't find…
  • I haven't climbed Snowdon yet, but what I wished I had when I climbed Mt Fuji was stronger thighs so that they could take more of the strain from my knees.
  • I find the social element motivating too. You can have challenges with friends from all kinds of places. I have mfp friends, Facebook crochet friends, real life friends etc, and it's fun to see who gets how much exercise.
  • That's a lot of walking! According to my Fitbit I walk quite a lot (27.38km in the last seven days, and that's without my longest walk all week which is later today), but very little is intentional. I just don't drive so walk everywhere instead!

  • If you think you know what you have to eat there is no point at all having your Fitbit sync with mfp. My personal experience is the exact opposite in that I can lose on Fitbit maintenance calories, so that's what I do.
  • My breakfast: half a peshwari naan (leftover intentionally from the night before), stuffed with 20g chocolate chips, toasted in the toaster using a toaster pocket, served with 175g of fat-free Skyr yoghurt. Mmm...
  • I wanted to get free weights to use at home and was ready to build a gym in my shed, but when I did Stronglifts in the gym I found I needed a spotter to do my best at the bench press, so I gave up on that idea for now. The problem I now have is I now know I love free weights and find it hard to get inspired by body weight…
  • At my lowest weight (120lb), I maintained on 2400kcal + exercise as logged on mfp. It took me a while to accept too, but that's how it is. Now I wouldn't lose on 1800 because it would be too great a cut. Saying something is 'mental' should not be insulting to anyone. If you can't change your mind about something, when…
  • Could you add some fat and protein to improve your satiety? Nuts and Greek yoghurt (one of the 10g protein to 100g types, the Icelandic Skyr being the cheapest at the moment)?
  • Congratulations for turning your health around. I'm surprised, from your photo, that you say you still have weight to lose. What is your goal body fat or BMI like?
  • I find it misses steps, for example, it doesn't register even close to the steps I do on wii step.

  • I think it must vary a lot. Try a figure and see how it works out. All 'calories burnt' for any exercise are estimates anyway.
  • I go away with my parents without my husband because I have long holidays and he doesn't. I'm thinking of trying my first holiday with just me and my sons this summer. Some year I'll probably take them to Japan for a month of the summer, without their (Japanese-born) daddy who doesn't like the heat!
  • Pity there's no like button or I'm sure you'd have a few.

  • If you look at the last 20 years obesity has definitely increased.
  • This is with reference to the MFP blog 'How has health changed in the last 20 years?' which says nothing about health and everything about the health industry.
  • (Back then it was less high tech!)
  • My husband did it years ago (and I tried but didn't make it).
  • I'm at the highest weight I've ever been when not pregnant. Personally, I find weighing daily, but looking at progress via the one month and two month graphs, helps me to accept any blips as blips. My parents weigh daily too, and say things like 'I lost 1kg yesterday but I gained it right back'. I try to explain why this…
  • I weigh daily and consider my stats by looking at the month as a whole. To me, weekly weigh-ins make no sense. What if you weigh in on a low day one week and a high one the next? It might look like you're not losing when you are, and you might change your behaviour when you didn't need to. That said, if you look at the…
  • There is no proof that you 'need' breakfast so I would just enjoy the calories at another time of day.
  • Isn't she gaining financially by making the video?
  • Now that Fitbit has a gain option when I eventually get to my goal weight again I'll probably set it on that. I know what to do about the mismatch, but I'm still interested in why and I don't think it's muscle mass in my case.
  • I went below an A cup at my lowest weight. I'm at my heighest weight right now and really hope I keep some boob this time. I read somewhere that you gain extra breast tissue with each child you give birth to, so I have some hope
  • Being vegan doesn't guarantee weight loss. You can get plenty of calories out of nuts etc, so just eating a vegan diet doesn't mean you will lose weight.
