I can tell a difference. In your recent pics I'm seeing the womanly curves becoming defined, plus your chin looks more slender. You're already looking great, so don't give it up. It's okay if you feel like giving up sometimes, just remember to keep coming back. Besides, you've already lost 36 pounds. Don't forget how…

First of all, know that there are better choices if you have a sweet tooth. For example, I love chocolate, but I also love rice krispy treats. I think, I can have 2 rice krispy treats for the price of one Snickers Dark. Also, those break and bake cookies, some of them are 80 calories/cookie. Ones from Subway are usually…

I like doing cottage cheese with a spice in it, basil is a fav, garlic, rosemary--love it all, and then some kind of low cal multi-grain cracker. I also do string cheese a lot as a snack, or the "no sugar added" little applesauce packs. I know you said you don't do cooking, but if you ever feel inclined, I'd look into…

I agree with the protein comment. Fish is low cal--at least more than steak or chicken, and it fills you up. If you're not typically a fish eater, tilapia, cod, and mahi mahi are all fishes I eased into seafood with cuz they don't taste as "fishy" like salmon. I also would say string cheese as a snack, it's got 6g of…

If you follow MFP, you'll totally get there. You should reward yourself for each 10kg you hit, I have a lot of friends that do that for motivation. My motivation is exercising enough that ice cream can fit into the calorie count for the weekend without ruining the weight. I've been fairly successful at that, and losing a…

I always work out to '80s ballad bands like Van Halen, Journey, Bon Jovi, some AC/DC, or anything that fits the mix. I've thrown in some Michael Jackson, or any motivational 80s song like Eye of the Tiger or You're the Best. It may sound a little strange, especially if you're a girl, but I've found it's among the only…

Mine's Kung Fu. You're totally right. Easy to stay in shape if you exercise doing something you love. I never exercised when it was a workout video or a treadmill at the gym or running as an option. I'd add a little caveat to the eat less, at least eat less junk in addition to eating less. I was amazed to see the calorie…

What are you using it for? General health? I've only ever used it to prevent/shorten colds, but it typically only works at the first sign of symptoms (I've read it blocks whatever causes you to get all congested). I think you should post what you're hoping to get out of it for a good answer.

You look amazing! I hope you are able to often look back and see how much progress you've made and realize how much you are able to accomplish for yourself. You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work!

You have to remember too that doing it the right way means you'll probably often drop a pound a week unless you're doing crazy amounts of physical activity or exercise. 2 lbs a week sounds like you're really making good progress to me. I think if you want it faster than that you'll have to put in the extra exercise time,…

I think nowadays things are much more advanced, just like you said, and you've probably detected any problems early enough--if there are any at all. They probably saw something small and just wanted to make sure it wasn't serious. And even if it is we've improved so much in technology I think the statistics are more in…

Ellipticals seem to burn calories well, and if you have a movie to watch, all the better. For me, I had to sign up for something to get me working out, something I enjoyed. It's kung fu. But you could also take a dance class, aerobics, tai chi, yoga, etc. Find something you're interested in. Then you're losing weight AND…

60 in 6 months, that's commendable! Keep up the good work! You'll love this site, it's the only thing that's ever motivated me enough to see results.

Don't worry about falling off track and losing motivation because it happens to all of us. I've given up on MFP a couple of times. It's okay to take a little break, the important thing is that you come right back. So if you slip every once in awhile, remember that weight loss is a long term thing. Just start again, no…

Cycling (even if stationary) and swimming aren't as hard on the body as walking and jogging and yet burn calories sometimes at a better rate. If you have access to those things, maybe you could change it up with them along with your treadmill. As for wasting your time, some exercise is better than no exercise. If you go…

Fruity-flavored gum is my savior. I'm kind of addicted actually. But hey, 5 calories vs. 100, well, works for me. Give gum a try. Some of the flavors I recommend, Wrigley's 5: Elixir or React flavors; Trident Layers: Strawberry or Green Apple; and for awhile I loved the Extra Dessert Delights. Kinda tastes like the real…

What kind of work out are you doing? Also, are you taking waste, neck, hip measurements? Often you'll gain because you're gaining muscle, but you may be shrinking in size. If you're not eating enough calories per day then your body may be in starvation mode which means it'll hold onto them like crazy. If you work out every…

Welcome. Calorie counting can be annoying, but it actually works wonders. Stick to it and you'll meet your goals in no time. :D

That's awesome! You're truly an inspiration. I'd hold onto these pictures for those days when you feel like giving up, because they're proof you can make your goals.

I often use string cheese as a snack. Frigo's is like 80 calories and 5 or 6 gm protein. Also the "natural applesauce" little packs, they're 50, as a snack. For breakfast I often do Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal. One packet is less than 200 (varies on which on you choose, I think Apple Cinnamon is the lowest). Oatmeal tends…

If you use MFP like you have been, you'll totally reach your goals. And well done!

Maybe there's an error? For me it's 1310 per day (I'm 5'8"). They want you to eat less than the calories you'd consume lying in bed all day doing nothing. For me that's 1400 (just a normal day at work they said was 1700). I can't remember where I found the 1700 after a quick look, but you can see the other number if you go…

Try eating things that are more filling. For example, I do 1 packet of Quaker Instant Oats (various flavors) and that's usually less than 200 calories for breakfast and it stays with me a long time. I try to drink my first 4 cups of water before noon too. But it seems odd it has you at 1200 calories, as it tells me going…

Honey may be higher in calories, but it has good bacterial benefits that other sugars won't bring you. Plus it's easier for your body to process than sugar. I would read what gelo38 posted. Good info there. While some things may be lower in calories, like a Coke vs. a Diet Coke, aspartame and other sweeteners may be…

Does it tell you 1200 calories as your daily goal on the home page? If so, that's how many you are supposed to eat. If you exercise, that's bonus calories you can consume. They say not to eat less than 1200/day though, as it's unhealthy and can cause your body to go into starvation mode.

You're super cheating if you use snow skiing. I'm a snowboarder and skier, trust me. You could use "moving" like boxes around the house, it has that. Seems like that would be about the same.

I think you guys will start to lose weight. It looks like healthier options, well except the steak made me raise a little eyebrow, but those things in moderation aren't so bad. I have read that baby carrots are soaked or sprayed with something that makes them sweeter and adds sugar. My friend and I tested it out by adding…

It was good to see this article. I'm an Idahoan and of course we eat tons of potatoes. (It's okay, it's true). When the whole carb thing got going, people would criticize me about my potato eating for the "carbs" but I never listened to them because I grew up eating tons of potatoes and another supposedly big carb, whole…

Yes, because you don't want your body to go into starvation mode. You can look up what your body uses if you just lay in bed all day, can't remember the technical term for it. Mine's about 1400 and they've given me a goal of 1310 calories per day. Since I don't just lay in bed all day I'm burning other calories moving,…
