  • When you're next in the area where there's a bike shop get fitted, that'll be one of your best moves when it comes to biking and sticking with it. Being gravel that pretty much moves you to mountain bike / offroad as opposed to a 10speed best for paved trails etc. Beyond that... look at the bikes at the shop, tell them…
  • THIS is what it says when you click "yes" to share, which happens to give you the fields for adding instructions on assembling the ingredients into the intended meal. (it's not a good thing to put the baking soda and water meant for a "glaze" on my pretzels into the recipe itself... which just from the ingredients one…
  • Really depends... do you ever soak in the tub to relax? We "have" a tub here but it's a very oddly shallow one so it's not worth it, might as well be a walk-in shower for all the good it does as a tub, but I really enjoy getting out to the rural property with the clawfoot tub with the back (opposite the taps / faucet)…
  • Exercise > database enter your weight and then enter a value with extra weight.. for myself if I loaded an extra 15lbs on it works out to an extra 8 calories over 30 minutes... within my personal margin of error for logging a food item so not worth the hassle. Will note that there is an entry in the database for it anyway,…
  • Stick with a full-size blender base with a "real" motor in it as long as it has the blade attachment that will spin off of the pitcher and straight onto a mason jar... then customize the jar used for what you're making... fresh spices? 250mL container.... shake / smoothie either 500mL or 1000mL (1L) container etc. Only…
  • take your existing banana bread recipe... substitute either apple sauce or canned pumpkin for any and all oil it calls for... in equal amounts... replace 1/2 cup of oil with 1/2 cup of apple sauce or canned pumpkin... replace 1 cup of oil with 1 cup of either... oil = either vegetable oil, butter, shortening, whatever it…
  • More time to score bargains in the thrift shops than your local big box store with stuff that will fall apart / wear through in a month or two. I enjoy a good thrift store, just know your prices on stuff, I've gone in one before and seen a bike for $125 that I owned 4 years before which was new at $95 :P Some discard…
  • You may find that your app has an "offline" mode that lets you log from foods you've previously logged anyway. it won't "count" towards days logged in as those are "days you've connected to the MFP servers at least once (24 hour periods rather than "days" as logging in at 6am on one day and not until 12pm the next day is a…
  • Grams "are" calories 1 gram of protein or carbs are 4 calories each... which still leaves up in the air on LC day what is your carb limit (whether grams OR calories since they end in the same thing) and HC day what is your carb limit? I'm having problems deciding my meals for the day because I can't decide what is HC and…
  • to get the calorie burn from 'strength training' or at least an estimate you can go exercise > CARDIO> add exercise > search "strength training" if you're trying to log "the lift you did" to track progress over time with weight / sets / reps you will find results under strength training by searching for the body part…
  • mason jar: soup to nuts cookbook they make some great visual displays besides being great and convenient for portioning ahead of time ;)
  • I also read the "slingshot" as a method to pop to when your 7 day cycling stops working, oh you plateaued as your body figured out the 7 day carb cycling? ok... change it up and bust through that plateau...
  • That's what I like about MFP.. it gives me a calorie goal where i can lose weight without exercise, IF I exercise I get additional calories. It's helped me start losing weight, where with the dietitian / nutritionists I gained weight... they had a higher calorie goal daily but were expecting me to workout to build the…
  • MFP prompts you when you've reached a 10 lb loss from the last time you updated your diet / fitness profile. Some users will never see the "auto-prompt" because they change things every few pounds or get impatient and make a change at 9lbs, which resets the 10lb loss since last update counter meaning they have to get to…
  • Skip the ramen and it's high sodium buy bags of lentils, beans, rice etc. Sometimes it will pay to buy in bigger packages once you know you like certain items. For instance I can go to my local grocer and pay $10 for 10 lbs of flour or I can go to a whole-sale club (no memberships) or Costco and get a 25kg (call it 50 lbs)…
  • Big fan of a "regular" ol' blender that the blades screw off of the pitcher base and right onto a mason jar... custom "magic bullet" features do-able for a long time. As long as the lid of a regular mason jar will screw on the base of the pitcher the blades should also screw onto the mason jar... a dozen "custom" beverages…
  • Check the labels on "all" of them, find one that has both ingredients you can handle and isn't overloaded with sugar. I see so many "commercially made" bars that have more sugar than they do protein. Same as protein "drinks" in the beverage coolers... more carbs than protein... that might make it a meal replacement but…
  • I cook almost everything with cast iron of one form or another, seasoned properly they're as / more non-stick than the latest chemical teflon family of platings...
  • take some more traditional portable snacks like you'd take for hiking perhaps... jerky ranks near the top of portable low cal snacks for me.
  • When I added calories and adequately fed my body I started losing again. You could try it and see what happens, you say your stuck doing what you've always done so try something new.
  • I do love books but not when i have to lug them to and from remote work-sites, for that I'm sure an e-reader will be great, for now I just use the "kindle for PC" program on the computer. Oh and i have 2000+ books (I did originally mean e-books here but I realized that that number applies to both e-books mostly for free…
  • That sounds like a wicked little help, I know I just read the book this weekend and right now it leaves me scratching my head... all... well not "all" but most of my protein choices come with fat so I'm not sure how we're to "avoid fat" on high carb day and then have it on low carb days... is it added fats like the salad…
  • Try "exercise > database" pick your swim or whatever from the drop down list in the top right corner. on the bottom right it asks your weight and how long you did the activity. You can see by changing the weight that yes weight IS used to calculate your burn.
  • What did you do with the 11th and 12th 1/4 cup from the package? On a volume measurement I usually get a bit more or less than the "suggested servings".
  • To post a new topic you need to go to the forum itself.. IE click general diet and weight loss in the Message Boards> General Diet and Weight Loss Help > Reply to Topic line or You need to click community > message boards to access the table of contents. Decide which of the listed forums your post is related to IE if…
  • I was afraid of that as it's by the same company as Mens health which definitely got... "take this supplement" take that supplement rather than sticking to workouts and healthy meals... Belly Off was the only feature I kept it for as long as I did.
  • I was always a fan of Men's Health... well for a while, then it just seemed to change to a platform to promote certain supplements so I stopped the subscription. but they do have a women's version http://www.womenshealthmag.com
  • Sounds like you are looking at the exercise > database part just to see what exercises are available. Take the name of the exercise you want to log, go to exercise > exercise database under cardio click 'add exercise" in the search box type the name of the exercise you found in the database and search for it. Now when you…
  • Depends... if you had a hydraulic jack then you didn't do much.. however if you had the scissor-jack only that came included with the vehicle and had to get creative for a handle to get the scissor action to work.. that's quite a workout i agree... especially if it was all 4 tires not just the one flat I had to change last…
  • Bah I want green coffee beans to do some of my own roasting... but can't do that from them in pill form. Oz is an effective marketer... he'd have been a snake-oil salesman if he were from that era :P Pay enough for your spot on tv anyone can get on there, just because he's ON tv doesn't mean he knows all.
