It really depends on your goals. You can make them for 150 to 170 for a snack or 250 plus for a meal replacement.

Don't stress over it! Just set a long term goal with some short term goals thrown in and move forward! You got this!

I wouldn't change a thing that you did for your 12 miler. Just do the same pre-run with maybe a little extra water. Don't think I'd carbo load the night before. Unless that's something you normally do before a long run, it might have an undesired effect on race day. Most importantly - have an amazing day!

Peanut butter, cheese sticks, almonds, beef jerky, eggs, tuna. The list goes on. Look at my food log for some ideas.

I feel ya! Didn't get to OKI until 1975 and guess you drank it all up! LOL. We used to make the run from Kadena AB to Tori Station daily. Lots of memories from that time frame.

It is much harder to gain lean mass than to lose fat. Three colorful, protein based meals. 2 hours or so after the meal, drink a meal replacement shake. I assume you want him to gain lean mass and not just fat.
