  • Thanks Chad! Me too!
  • I did the same thing that you are doing before my surgery... research and reaching out to others who had it before me. :) Some of the craving go away and some change but some you may have to fight for a long time because they are mental and not physical. Read the other posts and follow all of the recommendations of your…
  • Thanks for the recommendation! I am always looking for books and documentaries that can educate our beliefs about food.
  • Sweet- any with dark chocolate and almonds Salty- tortilla chips and spinach and artichoke dip Real food- ribs, coleslaw, beans, and corn bread
  • The Shack... cried like a baby... it has a good message but very sad.
  • I am 3 1/2ish years out from a sleeve. The 1st two years were easy and then I lost my motivation to eat the right foods and started snacking... I ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and gained back 25 pounds. I saw my gastro doctor because of course I was feeling like crap and she told me to follow the Fodmap plan... I…
  • Hey! I can empathize. I broke my foot in August and they finally did surgery in December. The incision didn't heal so have a open wound to deal with. I have been in a boot for 7 months and it really hampers my ability to workout. My doctor recommended free weights... Lots of them. The hardest part is to keep your diet…
  • Hello! I had surgery on March 24th. I chose not to tell anyone about the surgery because I knew my co-workers and acquaintances would not be understanding. SW: 237 CW: 172.2
  • Congrats! That is an awesome accomplishment!
  • I didn't have any hair loss but I have had several surgeries (once every year to every other year.) My doctor said that my body was so used to being upset that another surgery was no big deal to it. Like other people have posted, he told me that loosing my hair was a affect of stress on the body rather than nutrition.
  • I made the choice not to tell anyone but my sister (and of course the people on this website) that I was going to have WLS (weight loss surgery.) I am 3 months post-op and no one still knows. My family (including my spouse) and friends are not understanding of people who have WLS. They think if God wanted me to weigh less…
  • South Dakota... There is nothing exciting here so we just say, South Dakota!
  • What a wonderful topic! Just the other day I was thinking this. I am only 3 months post op but it hit me that I may not be that "fat girl" forever. An example: I went to pick up my youngest niece from daycare. I was waiting in the reception area and she walked in and just stared at me. I finally said "hey shorty (I'm the…
  • Thanks for the advice. I have always had normal or a little below normal blood pressure. The only meds I take are a hormone replacement therapy pill, Topamax, Prilosec, Zyrtec, Bactrum, and the normal vitamins. I don't take the normal obesity related ones. I have been dealing with some lightheadedness while in the shower…
  • Congrats! Goodbye 200s... Hello 100s!!! Keep up the hard work!

  • I understand your curiosity... I was engaged and we broke up because I was young and dumb. It has been 15 years since we broke up and I still wonder about him all the time. I will see something and think of him or something he said. I know from mutual friends that he is now married with twin 5 year old girls. Our friends…
  • Yes, they are in the same office. My surgeon's office made the appointment with the nutritionist for me. I asked the bariatric nurse (I saw her right afterwards) and she said to do whatever the nutritionist says. I am just a little apprehensive!!
  • I started walking right after I woke up and they gave me a goal of 10 minutes 4 to 6 times a day for the first month. After 1 month, he said I could do whatever cardio I want as long as I wasn't stretching too much and there was no pain. At 2 months out, I just got the go ahead to lift weights and stretch all I want! Each…
  • Congrats! You're doing amazing!
  • I started at 40.7 at my first doctor's visit. When I did a phone consult to even get the appointment the nurse said to make sure my weight was lower then what I stated on the phone. The weeks before my appointment I made sure not to diet and the morning of my I drank water because I was nervous that their scale would be…

  • In my area of the country, we eat more venison than beef. I have been using it in place of beef in all my recipes since I got the clearance to eat real food post-op. I handle it wonderfully but my body is used to it. I have eaten beef a few times at restaurants and that is fine also. I would pick a recipe you enjoy and…

  • I didn't/haven't told anyone but my sister. She was my driver and my emergency contact. My husband and family members knew I was having surgery for another issue, I just elaborate with all the details of everything that happened. My husband has a phobia of anything medical so he just wanted to know the date of "the thing"…
  • The Book Thief
  • I have had this feeling too. I don't tolerate chicken. I just sipped on tons of water and went for a very long walk. I had the feeling for most of the day but the next morning, it was gone. My doctor told me it just took time for your muscles to move the food through the digestive track. Best of luck!
  • 1. Murky bodies of water with a drain that I have to stick my hand into (sinks, bathtubs, toilet tanks)... Think the Grudge movie 2. Floor drains... The movie It 3. Standing on the edge of cliffs or building... I don't free heights, I fear falling accidentally! 4. Zombies! 5. Little kids too close to busy streets... They…
  • I'm a newbie! This will be a huge encouragement to get moving again! My goal is go 75 miles. I will just track actual miles that I covered through doing activity (such as walking on treadmill.) Thanks for starting this!
  • Oh my gosh! I know what you are saying. I was approved with a date just 10 days my pre-op visit and I had a panic attack. I walked out of the front door of the doctor's office thinking "shouldn't I just be able to do it on my own? Why can't I do it? Why put myself through surgery? What if something bad happens during…
  • Oh my gosh! Congrats! You are beautiful!
