Do you think 100,000 Americans would agree with this stand? If so, we can start a petition at the White House petition site and if we get 100K signatures, they have to respond in a month.

I actually had the opposite problem - I was underestimating my cardio workouts by about 50%. My HRM has helped me get a more realistic (knowing that it's not a perfect measure) of my workouts - much better than me looking at the MFP estimate and guessing how much higher or lower my workout actually was.

If you can afford it, I'd consider getting the Fitbit Aria or the Withings scales. They automatically upload your weight and sync to MFP. That way you can weigh yourself and not have to look at the scale - just step on, count to 20 and step off. The weight will be sitting online waiting for you for when you are ready to…

You might want to look at more calorie-dense food. When I'm short on calories (because at my age depressing my metabolism is a bad idea), I tend to eat peanut butter or nuts. A 1/4 cup of cashews is 160 calories and walnuts 180-200. So in a few bites you get good food and a bunch of calories. I also like Quaker Breakfast…

Welcome to MFP! I think you'll find the site helpful. Since you want to quit smoking, you might want to add another category to your Food tab and track how many cigarettes you smoke. As that number goes down, it should help motivate you to stick with the program. If you're looking for supportive friends, please feel free…

I saw one nutritionist and was all excited because she seemed to really understand where I was coming from. I believe that if I could keep working with her, I would be successful about finding ways to eat healthier, but I can't afford to see her as she works at a hospital and it costs a fortune. I met with another…

Sorry for the late reply. I have trouble remembering to check topics I commented on. The Bloch shoes I got were SKU 7549601 on Zappos. I don't actually see a model number, but here's the URL http://www.zappos.com/bloch-dance-sneaker-black#prdInfo

I find the tracking very helpful and I really like the MFP mobile app. Feel free to add me if you are looking for friends to help you stay on track.

Feel free to add me if you'd like. I'm 48 and haven't decided how much I'm going to lose. Currently my goal is to weigh 150 and then we'll tackle 140.

I walk up the stairs after lunch. Since I'm on the 5th floor and starting in the basement, that gives me a bunch of steps and a bunch of stairs. I also take the long way around the office to get to the bathroom or to refill my water bottle.

I have two kitties - my little boy kitty is a long-hair black and white tuxedo and I have a medium-hair Tortie girl. Oddly, they both love to watch animal shows on TV - Too Cute on Animal Planet is their favorite, they sit there and watch the whole show.
-
Feel free to add me if you'd like. I am only focusing on calories, not the types of food I eat currently, but do have a goal to work out at least 4 times a week. Eating healthy is probably not ever going to work for me, but at some point, I'll probably shoot for healthier.

I created my own exercise for Zumba since I use my HRM in class. Before that, I was logging things as "Dancing, aerobic, ballet or modern, twist." If you need to estimate calories, you can take a look at http://caloriesburnedhq.com/zumba-calories-burned/

I'm using the Bloch dance shoes and they are working great for me. I got them off Zappos which has free returns, and I did get a 8 when I usually wear a 7.5 or 7. They fit great.
-
I'd put a second recommendation for a ballet workout. I like the Ballet Conditioning Elements (or something like that). It never fails to give me a good workout and wipe me out.
-
I haven't tried the Capezio, but I have Bloch dance shoes and they work great for Zumba. I got mine on Zappos and ordered an 8 (usually wear a 7.5 or 7) since they run small. They were also the cheapest shoes I tried since I went through about 3 other kinds of shoes before I found them.
-
BandAid also has some bandages that are designed for blisters or areas that get them. The ones I had were a good size so that they covered the blister, but I didn't have a whole lot of extra bandage to deal with.
-
Just a head's up - when I first checked out the calories at that site, I thought that they had to be wrong because they were so high. I wore my HRM to the next class and was surprised that I really did burn 600+ calories in a 1 hour class. So it looks like the site is pretty accurate.

When I started Zumba, I went though a lot of shoes trying to find ones that worked. I finally found Bloch dance sneakers. You can get them over at Zappos and they were the cheapest sneaker I tried. They are great for pivoting, but still give me good support. They have a split sole to give the foot more flexibility. They…

I have the Zumba Rush and did an hour workout. The program said I burned 1300+ calories while my HRM had 600+. So I would suspect that the calories reported are high. For myself, I'd probably cut them in half.

If you don't have an XBox, they are running a discount where you can get an XBox, Kinect, and Nike game for $249. They may be trying to clear out old inventory, but the Zumba games give a pretty good workout.
-
Another vote for the Zumba games. But, you might want to be careful about the calorie counts. I did a 1 hour workout and my HRM had me at 619 calories while the Zumba game had 1200 calories.

You may want to take a look at the Roadmap thread. It explains a lot about calculating your calories. I think it is at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 Basically, the most recommended idea is to take your TDEE and subtract 20% which would put you a little over 2000…

Popcorn and salsa is yummy! Use chopsticks when dipping the popcorn (hot air popped only) so that you can get just the right amount of salsa. Also, for non-experienced chopsticks people, it stretches the snack out for a long time.

When I first got my Polar I was having the same problem. What fixed it was tucking it up as high under the breasts as possible and putting the sports bra on over it. I haven't had a problem since I figured that out.
-
Have you ever tried one of the ballet workouts? I really like Element: Ballet Conditioning. They are low impact, but really seem to work the muscles. It's really easy to modify to meet your current fitness since you go as far as you can go.
-
If you don't have them, I'd add a HRM and one of the pedometers you can sync to MFP to your list. My doctor got very upset with me for underestimating my calorie burn during exercise - and by the HRM, she was right.
-
I added a Supplement category to my Meals list so I can easily see what days I forgot to take something.
-
I'm not a doctor, but two things came to mind - (1) have you had the blood-work to make sure your dosage is ok? Thyroid medication can be tricky to get right. How much you need seems to change regularly, especially in the beginning. Every doctor seems to have a different idea of the "best" time to take the medicine. I got…

Hi, feel free to add me as a friend. I'm just starting on my journey, but would be glad to support you in yours.
