  • Many restaurants have their calories on their website. If not, Google the dish and the restaurant and there's a good chance a calorie estimate will come up. This site is pretty good about having restaurant dishes in the database and so are a few of the others.

  • If you are afraid to look at the scale, get one that is Internet connected. These scales can automatically upload to MFP so you step on, wait, step off and MFP will track you weight until you are ready to look at it. I have the Aria, but there are lots of others.

  • Have you tried drinking water through a straw? Give me a cup of water and I'll never get around to drinking it. Give me a glass with a straw and it seems to disappear.
  • I'll be 50 next year, and while I would never ever (really never ever ever) recommend that anyone eat like I do, I've managed to lose quite a bit of weight in the past year. I'm at about 18 months into the process now, have thyroid issues and take inhaled steroids for asthma. Watching my calorie total and logging seems to…
  • Use a straw. If I try to drink water out of a glass, it sits there for hours, but if I drink through a straw, I have no problem.

  • I was a very happy 7 - 7.5 US before. Now I'm in a 6.5 and sometimes 6 which are much harder to find.
  • The calculator at http://caloriesburnedhq.com/zumba-calories-burned/ seems to match my HRM pretty well. You might want to see what it says you burned. I usually get between 350 and 550 per hour in class depending on the instructor and how my asthma is that day.
  • My head tells me that there is no way sticking a needle into someone releases heat and fixes energy pathways, but it apparently does work. I had a cat who had severe arthritis (abuse before I adopted her) and had a lot of trouble walking. The vet recommended that we try acupuncture and it seemed to work really well. She…
  • I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that trying to do Zumba moves with ankle weights could be dangerous. I don't think that would be a good idea. Zumba does have a workout with toning sticks, so you might be able to use heavier weights for that one. I think the best way of upping the intensity would be to combine moves -…
  • I tend to think of my calories on a weekly basis. If I'm under or over a couple of hundred calories, I don't worry about it, unless it looks like I'm running over for the week. Trying to put together menus that hit the calorie goal every single day is way too challenging for me.
  • I really enjoy Element: Body Conditioning. It took me a few times to get through the workout, but I really enjoyed how it really works my body and the jump series at the end is fun.
  • I skip the knife part, but do something really similar with thin crust pizza. I put the whole frozen pizza in a large zip lock bag and then just snap it in half. It's not perfect, but since it is frozen, it is pretty easy to break.
  • This might not be your problem, but how do your feet fit into your shoes? I found that I have a tendency to have my heel come out of my shoe when doing lunges. When I finally found a shoe that keeps my heels in there, lunges got to be a lot easier. I've also found that going slow on lunges works a lot better for me than…
  • I haven't been in a Walmart in years, but they used to have a good amount of exercise clothing.
  • I adore my Aria. It lets me weigh everyday - but I don't have to look a the scale if I don't want to. It is also the only scale that gives me the same weight if I step on it twice in a row. It does cost a bit, but I really am glad I splurged. If you get one, you can sync it to https://trendweight.com/dashboard/ which shows…
  • I'm only at 1300 plus exercise. I'm 48 years old, 5"4" and just under 150 pounds. I've got medical problems that seem to have killed my metabolism. I work out around 4 times a week doing Zumba, water aerobics, and strength training. My doctor had me do MedGem testing and my RMR was only 960 calories per day - which is…
  • If you like to dance, Zumba burns a lot of calories fast.
  • Have you seen your doctor lately? If not, you might want to make an appointment to have your thyroid checked. If you are having thyroid trouble, it's really hard to lose until it's under control.
  • I try to figure out if my body is really hungry or if it just wants to eat. If I really am hungry, then I eat - usually something like cashews or yogurt. On the other hand, if I'm not really hungry, but just have the munchies, my go-to is hot air popcorn - hardly any calories so you can eat a ton of it, plus if you are…
  • Real food is always better, but I've lost quite a bit by eating a Special K - Double Chocolate Protein Meal Bar for breakfast. I'm also not hungry until lunch time. However, I could easily go all the way until lunch without eating anything since I'm never hungry in the morning. My nutritionist would prefer that I eat…
  • I'm 48 and not in the best shape and I still have all of my old Firm videos from the mid-1990's. I haven't had any trouble with any of the moves. I don't have trouble with the jumping as long as I have a sports bra on.
  • I had the Polar FT7 and replaced it with the FT4 because of the size of watch. I have fairly small wrists and the FT7 was just too big.
  • I'm still struggling with balance, but one thing I recently learned was that my trouble with lunges wasn't actually related to my balance. I got a new pair of shoes (Ascics) and all of the sudden my lunge wobbliness was gone. So it might not make a difference for you, but you might consider trying a different pair of shoes…
  • I love mine. I wouldn't be walking up nearly as many stairs without it. One thing to know about the Fitbit is that it sometimes tracks steps when you are sleeping or riding in a car. You can log driving as an activity and it will exclude those steps. I don't worry about the <100 I pick up while sleeping because I figure…
  • Another vote for the Fitbit Aria. I love that its the only scale I've ever had that reports the same weight if you step on it twice. Plus I love that I can step on, wait a few seconds and let the scale upload my weight without having to ever actually look at the weight. It is expensive, but I got it as an Amazon Gold Box…
  • I would love to see some of them go away, but I'm not seeing any shrinking in my breast measurements, but I'm losing inches everywhere else. I was pretty large chested before gaining the weight so I'm probably stuck with them.
  • If you can afford it, you might want to pick up a Fitbit. It syncs with MFP and if it thinks you moved more than expected, it adds those calories to your Exercise tab.
  • Dungeons of Daggaroth - Radio Shack Color Computer circa 1984...oh what we considered to be good graphics back then.
  • I've got a couple Sonoma yoga pants from Kohl's that I love. They got on sale a lot and if you have the Kohl's card you almost always can get a discount. I also love the Plus size tee shirts from JC Penney. I don't normally wear Plus size, but the tee shirts are (1) inexpensive, (2) not tight across the chest and (3) cover…
