Ok - got my yesterday and I would love to find some friends! Feel free to add me: http://www.fitbit.com/user/27CVJQ

Feel free to add me as well! I started lifting in January and it has been great -I'm definitely stronger and more toned. My next frontier is understanding and committing to the nutrition side of things so that I can lose fat and show off all the nice muscle I'm gaining! :)

Excellent work - it shows!

YOU ARE SO RIGHT! So - I got you feedback - specifically 'cut your calories to 1500-1550 - don't increase them like the other fools have been telling you -, stick to your macros, keep lifting, move around some more and make sure you're tracking correctly'. I'm still stalled but guess what...when I doubled down I realized…

^ What she said. I started with a few phases of of NROLFW - liked the explanations/argument for lifting in the book and eventually found that I liked the simplicity of Stronglifts more.
-
Yep, you're an athlete now! Nicely done. Sounds like your doctor could have been a little more encouraging along the way. You've come through a lot and it sounds like there's nothing stopping you now!
-
I started with NROLFW - loved the way the book was written and I really liked the explanations of the science of lifting. If you like detailed information about weightlifting, form, bio-mechanics of lifting, check out Mark Ripptoe's 'Starting Strength'. I didn't follow the NROLFW diet but I did complete phases 1-3.…

Wonderful post, thank you. I appreciate your healthy and sane approach!!

Wow - big difference! Keep up the good work! Slow and steady wins the race, right?

Late to the thread but I thought that I'd let you know that I had a similar experience...the 'expert' at my gym decided to 'help' me and and steered me away from most of the SL moves ...AND gave me horrible advice about deadlifts. When I went back I felt strange essentially 'dissing' his efforts to help by ignoring what he…

Lol...tempted but not tempted enough...maybe when the lottery pays off or something.
-
Goodness, what a great job! Congratulations.
-
This is me exactly. I've looked around my gym at the trainers and overheard them giving instruction and I'm not confident that they'll be able to help so.... "Rip" and the folks on MFP have become my trainers. I too downloaded the book onto my tablet and use it as a reference. I just started taping myself too. Very…

This is just excellent. Thank you. Great reminders, advice and encouragement.

Roger that. I've read the thread and will be more vigilant. Will reduce reduce intake to 1500-1550 (esp. carbs) and increase energy output. Will check back in two week. Thank you!
-
Done! Sorry about that, thought it was.
-
Woo hoo! Isn't that wonderful. Congratulations. Ride the wave to even more progress.

I'm wondering the same thing myself. I just finished stage 2 and I'm taking a week off and doing HIIT for three days until I start Stage 3. I understand that doing HIIT between strength days can defeat the purpose of a rest day so that's what I'm worried about. I'd be interested in other's experiences.

Wonderful story, thank you for sharing! What an inspiration.
