  • One step at a time - this is a journey. I agree with many of the comments above! Eat, don't drink calories. Walk a little every day. Log for a while - everything you eat, good or not so good. Take your time. Feel free to add me!
  • Feel free to add me - we're all here for you! :)
  • I'm looking for 'women in their 40's' pals so feel free to add me. I still have about 12lbs to go and need peer support!
  • Down to losing the last 10 and I am sabotaging myself with binges! I'm re-setting my plan this week (it's business time, baby!!!). Add me if you like!
  • Vancouver! Feel free to add me if you like! :flowerforyou:
  • Is the new term 'flexitarian'? Mostly vegetarian with the occasional fish or meat meal.
  • I'd like to join! What if I'm on holiday and can't sign in one or two Mondays in August? Can I still be in the challenge? I've never done one before.
  • I stopped getting gym memberships a few years ago. I think I actually work out more now! I don't feel 'guilty' or like I'm not getting my money's worth if I miss a session, plus, it frees me up to work out wherever I like (I just pay a drop-in fee at one of a few gyms nearby or I work out at home). Bonus: you can take…
  • I do the 'salad in a jar' thing - I get three or four ready for the week (sometimes with quinoa, beans, or a hard-boiled egg). Usually two fruits, as well.
  • I think eating repetitively through the day makes me get into a 'snacking habit' and I end up eating more. So whether this is true or not, I do better when I don't graze. In Italy and France (where the food is amazing), my family members are all fairly thin and healthy - they don't snack!
  • I do! It helps me see patterns in my behaviour! :0)
  • Cherries!!!!!!!!! I usually eat far too many!
  • Welcome! I'm 44 and also had a 20lb goal - which I'm slowly achieving! I feel like MFP has been the key! Add my if you want!
  • I believe that eating real food is the only way to go. Switching to 'diet' foods just wreaks havoc on our bodies and doesn't really teach us new habits (like real portion control and keeping food diaries). Add me if you like - this topic is close to my heart!
  • Good for you! You look great and I'm guessing you feel much better! Keep up the good work. Your daughter must be so proud of you!
  • A quick way way to assess if your really hungry: ask yourself, 'Will an apple do?' If the answer is 'yes' you are probably hungry, so get an apple. If the answer is no', you are probably emotionally hungry. Get a glass of water or herbal tea. Or try taking a 5 minute breathing break.
  • It might be interesting to try the suggestions for only a week or two, to see if there is any difference. I don't know how I'd live without apples and berries, though! I'm unsure as to why berries and apples are on no-no list - usually they're at the top of the 'yes' list because of their fibre content. Mangos are high on…
  • Hi - I totally hear you! I have about 8 lbs to go and many people are saying, "You look great, don't lose any more weight." I also have a few clothes that are too snug to wear and want to get into. I do exercise a lot, which helps! I've been using the Nike Training Club and taking longer and longer runs. Seems to help!…
  • Mark Bittman is launching his new book Vb6 (Vegan before 6) which may offer some ideas and a healthy approach toward veganism. It's a eat vegan before 6pm plan (2/3rds of the time). Good recipes, too.
  • Crisp sourdough toast with cultured unsalted butter and sour cherry jam.
  • Hey there, I'm a mostly vegetarian and a food geek. I've done a lot of research on nutrition over the years and am a pretty experienced cook. Feel free to ask me questions anytime! Here's a link to a great vegan website: http://kblog.lunchboxbunch.com/ Enjoy! Eileen
  • Try to break down your goal to "I will lose 5lbs this month". Small and attainable with a short time limit. Sometimes a small goal is easier to achieve. I have been suffering from depression for a few years (seasonally) ans I know it's tough. One step at a time, this is a long journey.... You will get there!! xx
  • Fat is the byproduct of the conspiracy to get us addicted to the junk that provides shareholders with loads of profits. Yes, we are responsible for what we eat, but no, we shouldn't be sold these products without the same kind of health warnings that are on a pack of cigarettes.
  • Hi there - I'm not in my 30's (I'm in my forties, ouch), but I'm 5'8" and about 6lbs from my goal. A lot of working out, weight training and running. I eat really 'clean' and currently struggling on a bit of a plateau. Are the last few pounds always the hardest? I'm currently taking advantage of apps like the…
  • I am often hungry, too, or so I think! A friend told me to ask myself, "Will an apple do?" whenever I want to pig out. If I answer 'yes', it means I am probably actually hungry, so I eat an apple. If I answer, 'no', it's probably a craving and I try to tell myself to wait 10 minutes. Usually the urge goes away. A coffee or…
  • Hi there - I've reached a hundred days of logging in at Myfitnesspal! 5'8", and a weight loss of 15lbs, with about 6 to go. I love being able to quickly record what I am eating and how much I exercise. For me, it was all about recording what I ate - I was never good at keeping a pen and pad of paper around... my iPhone,…
