  • Congrats! I take some weird measurements too because all of my fat deposits aren't in line with each other. I mean I stick out front, back and to the side but they are all at different heights, and none of them are my actual waist, lol. So I end up taking waist, belly pooch, butt, and hips just to get a comprehensive set…
  • I like that canvas shirt idea! Though if I were emotionally attached to my tshirts clearly the most logical option for me would be to make a t-shirt quilt out of them, since I am, in fact, an actual quilter. The only thing is because I AM an experienced quilter already I know that working with t-shirt fabric is harder than…
  • I drink 2 cups a day and it's an important part of my diet. It acts as an appetite suppressant for me, so I use it in lieu of breakfast and as an afternoon snack. I take it with 3 artifical sweeteners and 3 creamers (or 2 tablespoons of creamer) and I've lost 11 lbs in 2 months. So. You know. Whatever.
  • I eat 2 meals a day, skipping breakfast. Never been a fan, finally decided to just cut it out altogether. On workdays I also have two "snacks" (read: coffee breaks). I eat a small lunch so that I have plenty of calories left for a nice big dinner. Coffee - 8:30 am Small lunch - 11 am Coffee - 3:30 pm Big Dinner - 6-7 pm…
  • You and your borzois are looking great! Good luck in the ring!
  • I deliberately did this trick on myself the other night. Was really craving a cookie in a mug, but those are like 500 calories, so I settled for just eating a portion of chocolate chips (70 calories). My little teacup was dirty (from having a cookie in a mug in it, lol) so I got out one of my huge soup mugs (because for…
  • I think it's a good idea. This is basically my plan once I (ever) reach maintenance. I don't want to have to count calories forever and ever and ever, and every time I've slipped up for a few months I actually keep the weight off fairly well. But, I know it can creep back on, so my entire maintenance plan will basically be…
  • My default reaction to a break up seems to be to do all the things to improve myself that I was being complacent about while in a relationship. When my longest relationship ended I decided to get my teeth straightened with Invisalign because I never had braces as a kid. So glad I did that. I also decided to get my ears…
  • For me it was when I stepped on the scale and it was over 200 lbs. (205 lbs at the highest). I decided I absolutely could NOT weight over 200 lbs. The other thing was having to go up a size in jeans to size 16... and having them be skin tight. Now I'm down to 180 ish, and in size 12 pants again. Just gotta keep at it.
  • From a purely anecdotal example... I eat next to no fruit. I mean my fruit intake consists of filling in a sweet maybe once a month. And other than being overweight, I don't have anything wrong with me. And I honestly don't think fruit is all it's cracked up to be. And that was my completely unscientific anecdotal opinion,…
  • No. Being offended over what people don't say is ridiculous. Plus you sound kind of whiny saying no one has told you that it looks like you've lost weight. Remember, people don't owe you compliments. Be pleased when you get them, but by expecting them you're just setting yourself up to be disappointed. If you just assume…
  • I can only relate to the first panel, incidentally. If I say I'm fat the number one thing I hear is "You aren't fat!" Yes. Yes I am. I just carry weight really well. *eyetwitch*
  • I'm the opposite - I need all my food to be mushy. Unless it's something that's supposed to be crispy. But I prefer all my vegetables to have the crap cooked out of them. It just ruins the entire meal for me if the veggies aren't all the way cooked and some are still kind of firm and crispy. I HATE crunchy things in my…
  • I have a very hard time forcing myself to drink water. Forget getting me to drink it throughout the day. I tend to get thirsty in the evenings, and depending on how thirsty, I can down 1-3 bottles pretty easily. The worst thing ever, though, is if I eat too much and i"m full and then I get super crazy thirsty too, but I'm…
  • I'm a two meals a day kind of girl. I've never been keen on breakfast, not even as a kid. Breakfast was thing I had to force myself to eat because lunch was too late in the day for me to get to without starving completely to death. If left to my own devices I would eat my first meal around 10 am. This was clearly not…
  • I don't think you're losing too fast. You were over 300 lbs when you started and the heavier you are the faster you take it off at first. It's not even wildly faster than recommended.
  • I'm not sure it would matter overmuch for bacon (never cooked sausage), because you don't add extra oil to fry bacon in. You just fry it in its own fat. For something like chicken where you would add in oil to fry, then I can see baking being less fattening if you don't add extra fat to it.
  • My pants that were skin tight no longer are.
  • See I make the differentiation as a muffin top is the bit of the pooch that spills over the top of your pants when your pants are too tight. So if you get pants that don't make your pooch pop out then you don't have a muffin top.
  • Depending on how the code was set up (and it looks like it was originally designed for weight loss and support for gaining weight was tacked on later), let me impress upon you how much of a ***** it would probably be to put in the logic to switch everything to the phrasing you would prefer.
  • Oh no I understand the question totally, especially the bit about it being "fake" food. I just don't know the answer and I'm wondering that myself. I wandered into one of those "vitamin" stores to try to find some essence of lemongrass. Most of their stock was giant things of protein shake powder. Smelled horrible in…
  • I wore a ring that I bought myself for Christmas not this past Christmas but the year before. And it was loose in the finger it was supposed to go on. I can actually wear it on my thumb if I wanted to. It's not so loose that it will fall off but it's noticeably looser than I remember it being. That said my other ring,…
  • I get my jeans at Target. They have a bunch of different fits for different body shapes and they cost $20-$30. I also only keep one pair at a time and wear them out. (Maybe not best practice - they don't get washed after every wear, but I keep running into ways my "sub par" hygiene practices are actually good.) Anyway, the…
  • See, I'm almost certain immediately after I get up is not the time of day I weigh the least. I prefer to weigh myself immediately when I get home from work. I'm usually hungry then and it coincides with when I change out of my work clothes. This past Monday I weighed myself when I got up (184) and again when I got home…
  • I very rarely eat peanut butter. Most of the reason I keep it around is for the dog (kongs, you guys, dogs love peanut butter). When I was a kid I would eat a spoonful of it that I had pressed chocolate chips into. That was so good. Why is peanut butter and chocolate so delicious of a combo? (Why do I keep spelling it…
  • Oh but those McCormick seasoning blends are soooo good! I don't see the problem with using seasonings - most are practically free from calories! I don't have a very refined palette, though. So there's that, lol.
  • Well I do carry a purse but I will "downsize" to only the essentials (phone, id, credit/debit card) if I have to walk for an extended period (such as a theme park) or if dealing with the purse is unwieldy (like when trying to wrangle my 65 lb Ibizan Hound puppy at the vet). The ring still fits, I didn't need a new size on…
  • The highest I've been has been a skin tight size 16. I'm still in a 16 now, but it's no longer skin tight! My first goal is to get down to a 12. I know I have quite a few pairs of 12's that I stocked up on and then immediately grew out of and never got to wear. Might be nice to actually wear some of them for awhile if they…
  • My mother carries all her weight in her stomach so she basically looks 9 months pregnant perpetually. She says that whenever she dyed her hair, she would always get asked how far along she was. This is one of the reasons she doesn't bother to dye her hair - no one asks when her whole head is grey! Also her favorite…
  • I have no excuses - there's no one at home to sabotage me. I just do less well on the weekends because the routine that normally limits what I can have and when is gone. Anyway, go to quick meals: canned soup and canned tuna. No cooking required. The tuna I eat chilled with black and cayenne pepper and a serving of sour…
