I would weigh every ingredient BEFORE cooking it, add that to the recipe calculator, and then divide it by however many servings, which I would determine by what's easiest to dip out of the pan - like 6th or 8ths. That way I'm a) not dealing with weighing the dish itself and b) not dealing with things weighing differently…

I went to Universal literally last night and rode the new Gringotts ride and the Mummy. They really restrain you well for those two! I did fit in the seats, but I did walk away with the impression that if I were very much fatter I wouldn't fit in them at all!

Clearly the water did not add 4 times the amount of calories to your food. I always weigh before cooking. The manufacturer has no way of knowing how you intend to prepare your food, how long you're going to let it soak, etc. Sometimes they offer an additional nutrition box for "prepared" values, like on boxed meals that…

I didn't see it in myself until I had lost half the weight I wanted to and THEN gained it all back and looked at the pictures. That's when I finally saw that yeah, I really was smaller at that weight. It helps me, at least, to think of it as an experiment. Like I'm testing a hypothesis to see if it really does work. I also…

I'm not even sure I CAN walk at 3.5. When I bumped the treadmill up to 3 mph I was walking just about as fast as I could. 3.5 might be running for me. No way that's an energy conserving speed for me!

Oh man, I can relate. I used to roller blade a lot when I was a kid - mostly at the skating rink because the school would put on skate nights. (Maybe try to find a rink? Nice and flat and smooth.) Anyway, I recently bought a new pair, thinking I might take it up again. Oh my god I am so horribly out of practice. I didn't…

It's worth it to invest in stockpiling if you can. Non-perishables, of course. Spend an extra $5-$20 and buy a ton of stuff when it goes on sale. Yes you might feel self conscious when you buy 20 cans of beans and clear out the shelf, BUT it really does lower your weekly grocery bill because you aren't having to buy that…

I just had a banana and cup of hot chocolate. Mid afternoon snack!

The recommended speed of weight loss is typically 1 lb/week, which can stretch to 2 lb/week if you're really motivated. But you're quite small already and don't have a huge amount left to go. So you should probably stick to 1 lb/week. There's 4 weeks in a month, so 4-5 lbs a month is entirely realistic, I think.

I'm astonished so many states still list weight on the license. So glad we don't here in Florida.

I have my current measurement memorized, so I'll share those. I'm 5'5" and probably the elusive hourglass. Current weight: 180 Bust: 42" Waist: 32" Hips: 44" I have more extensive ones at home because my fat deposits don't line up vertically. So I have a butt measurement that's different than hips and a belly measurement…

Still, if her doctor won't call her back and she can't get ahold of them, then asking a pharmacist would be a good idea. At least to figure out if it would have any known contraindications with her current medications.

Yesterday was a planned cheat day and I had to make cheesecake for quilt group but they only ate half of it. So today I took the uneaten half in to work to pawn it off on my coworkers instead of eating it all myself. That's a victory, right?

Whoa. That is an incredible difference. I'm 5' 5" and started at 205 lbs too, and now weigh right around 179 lbs and I look almost exactly the same. It is so weird how people carry weight differently!

This is basically where I've gotten to this year as well. Exact same story only I gained 9 pounds. Probably a good 5 of that is water weight. It didn't even feel good to be eating so much food and candy. I'm only annoyed because it has put me behind my goal, so I'm not going to make it by the wedding. But then I decided…

The quilt ladies would say something when I had actually gained 10 lbs and it was just because I took off a jacket or something. Really the only person who has said anything is my uncle, who I only see about once a year and didn't know the first time he commented. So that felt good. He gave me another compliment when I saw…

The scales in each room at the vet's office all weigh my dog differently. I also have an old mechanical scale (with the bubble level and the weight you have to balance) that consistently weighs me a good 15 lbs more than my electronic one. I determined the electronic one was the accurate one by hopping on the scale at…

First thing I noticed was my pants getting looser... and then baggy. And then they tossed my ring into a poopy toilet. I'd dropped 4 pant sizes. Most recently it was this past weekend when I put on a skirt that the last time I wore it was a little difficult to get into. This time it slid right up my hips without me being…

When you get it all back off, come up with a plan to maintain. I'm thinking mine will be close monitoring within a range. When I get above the upper cut off of the range, go back on the diet until it comes off again. I don't want to have to count calories for the rest of my life, but I am willing to tolerate a month or two…

Wow, that is wildly inaccurate for low calorie foods, then. But the math checks out. Thank you for such an informative answer, CyberTone! I learned something today.

I typically get like... 2/3 of my calories from one meal and that's simply because the things I like to cook for dinner are too high calorie for acceptable portion sizes to fit into a diet where all meals are divided into 3 equal portions. So I eat sparingly during the day to afford a nice sized dinner of things I would…

SW: 205 lbs CW: 178 lbs GW: 174 lbs Weigh in Dates: Start of Month (11/03): 178 lbs 11/08 Sat: 11/15 Sat: 11/22 Sat: 11/29 Sat: End of Month (11/30 Sunday): Total weight lost: I gotta get back in the wagon, I'm gaining! I've allowed myself 4 "cheat" days, basically 1 a week. I've already decided they will be spent on…

For me it was when my size 16 pants were skin tight. I knew if I got very much bigger I wouldn't be able to find my size in the regular stores. That and the scale hit 200 lbs, and I absolutely refuse to be 200 lbs! Anyway, the size 16's went from skin tight to loose to flinging my ring out of their pockets and into a poopy…

Dude, congrats! I have a very similar story. I started at 205 at my highest, I had lost 10 or 15 lbs before but never got below 180. Now I'm trying to break into the 160's and see 169 for the first time since college. Keep it up!

Yeah, I probably wouldn't apologize for saying that. If someone makes me angry enough to make me say something really mean to them like that, we are either going to pretend it never happened or they can get the hell out of my life forever. I'm probably fine with either one and lean towards the latter.

LOL! Well this particular piece of furniture is from my grandmother who is from Alabama, though my mother is from Kentucky and she's the only one who I can recall calling it a chifforobe. So yes, real Southern. XD I mean, it IS a chifforobe. Edit for pictures of chifferobe:

No one has suggested carrying a large stick yet? I mean I guess you probably don't want to be running with a stick (maybe an extra workout for the weight?) but I know some of my dog friends have taken to getting walking sticks when they walk their dogs for the express purpose of defending their dogs against other dogs.…

Weirdest NSV was when I was able to fit my arm all the way up under the chifferobe to retrieve the cat's toy. It had previously gotten stuck before my elbow.

I prefer the Green Mountain Breakfast Blend kcups and I take it with 3 Equals (or Sweet n Lows) and 3 French vanilla creamers (or 2 tablespoons of creamer). I drink 2 cups a day on weekdays.

Today at work we were testing the new id card system, which means I (think) I get to get a new ID card with a picture that's actually reasonably good (because I took it myself). I had to take a picture of my drivers license as corroborating evidence, so I was in my wallet looking at my staff ID too. Drivers license picture…
