I can understand your desire to keep this goal to yourself. I mean, while I agree with others that it is important to have a supportive environment of people...I, personally, do not always enjoy when those around me attempt to "help" me with my diet by analyzing how I go about losing weight/getting fit. We each have our…

Sadly, we live in a world where there are a lot of perceived "quick fixes" to our problems; especially those related to our health. There is a pill or a surgery, etc. People have been trained by the media and even health professionals to believe that their first (and sometimes Only) option is the quick fix. I think that…

My name is Terri! :) I live in Connecticut My food vices/ cheats include chocolate, frozen yogurt, and stovetop popcorn. I am held back from being in top shape due to a lack of motivation to push myself as hard as I know that I need to. I generally like to have a coach or trainer yelling at me to get me going, but I…

I agree with weight training, but I also (aside carefully watching my diet--particularly dairy and sugars), do criss-cross crunches. I will turn on one of my favorite rock/heavy metal songs and push through the whole song doing criss-cross crunches because they help to target those lower abdominals! Plus...I find them way…

1. Drink at least 8 cups of water every day. 2. Stay at or below my calorie max for each day. 3. Increase # of jump squats, I am weak with these, lol. 4. No soda.

Love this idea! It really helps finding a friend on here that can relate to our personal situation and goals! Age: 26 Height: 5' 7" HW & CW: 154 lbs GW: 135 lbs Post-baccalaureate pre-medical student looking to be fit and trim for the beach this summer and healthy for my med school interviews. Also, just want to look and…

I would love to join you on this goal! I will be returning to my pre-medical program at the end of January and am trying to get back in shape after gaining 10 to 15 lbs last semester. I would like to be ready for my medical school interviews (and the beach this coming summer). It feels so tough! I am a slightly…

I can respond to this from both sides now, lol. I was once one of those girls who could eat anything and stay pretty trim. But now--I speak from the position of a late 20s, pre-medical student who struggles to shed the extra flab all along my body even when eating just right. It is a dramatic change and experience. I know…

Thank you so much for your awesome advice and reply! It is nice to know that someone else out there experienced/is experiencing my dilemma. Sometimes other people don't see it as a dilemma as I am not overweight, but you know--I'm not healthy either! Unfortunately I cannot afford a personal trainer at this time (would Love…

I am in the process of applying to medical schools right now and I realized that my health really needs to be in tip top shape before diving into such an intense program. I am finishing a 2 year post-baccalaureate pre-medical program and during that process I became very distracted with my studies and started to gain a…

If staying within the U.S., I'd say: Florida, Virginia, Maryland, or either of the Carolinas. (mostly places along the East Coast :-p) If headed out of the U.S.: Canada, England, or Ireland.
