Very inspiring! Sending you good vibes and cheering you on. You are doing great!

Day 16. Friday night was really tough!! I am not completely sure why, but I didn't cave, and Saturday was fine. @MissMay I kinda wish they would get rid the 1 hr limit on editing and just go with the option to have a button for showing edit history. I often type something that I think makes complete sense at the time, only…

@GiveHerGrace Congrats on your 3 weeks AF! I find a lot of things Annie says very inspiring. One that I really liked this week was "Take care of your incredible body it is the most amazing thing you own, and it is the only place you truly have to live." @globalhiker Hope you are feeling better soon. @Sarah7591 Good job and…

Hey guys, I just want to make a quick clarification as someone asked what I meant above, I just meant my husband's social for my doctor appointment. Sorry, in the military was just always called it sponsor's. Hope everyone is having a great week :)

I am on Day 13 AF and I just want to share something that happened. It is a little thing, but to me it is amazing. I was on the phone with medical and they asked for my sponsor's social and I rattled it off immediately without really thinking. I haven't been able to do that in several years, and I normally have to look it…

Day 12 AF. Sleep is better, not waking up in the middle of the night anymore. I've been detaching from the news more, but been a little bored on evenings so I ordered some new water mixable oil paints and planning start painting again. Keep up the good work all :)

hahaha I love their hats! Brilliant :D Liver disease, yes, that is my number one 'why'. Alcohol doesn't ruin my life, I keep a steady weight with a healthy BMI, I don't get into arguments or act out when drunk, it isn't wrecking my relationships, I rarely feel depressed, my anxiety is caused by watching the news, but it…

@Lilylady3k It is sad, 65 is still young, and he had all those tour dates planned not knowing, yes very sad :( It hit me hard when Robin Williams died, I actually went into a few weeks of depression. We are more removed from death in our modern societies than we used to be, and it looms scarily somewhere in the future,…

Grats on day 12! I am on day 11. The alcohol is worse. I mean, yes the calories in foods can add the lbs, and some of it might not be the healthiest choices (when I binge they aren't :D ) but the calories in the alcohol combined with what I now know alcohol actually does to the brain, and the rest of the body, that is…

@Womona I know that feeling, I remember when we dropped my son off at college and started the long 10hr drive home, I cried probably half of the way. I had never been so far away from him before. When my daughter joined the military it was a weird mixture of pride and grief, and I will never forget the sad and worried look…

You hit the nail on the head! I absolutely agree. I never used to be like this and I am going to take those news apps and social media apps off my phone, and stop tuning into the news every morning. Day 9 AF o:)
-
Thank you, looking at the apps now :) We have good health insurance, but I would rather see if I can find self help first. I lost trust in psychotherapists after several bad experiences.

Date night is super important, the tacos sound delish!

As I progress through TAE I have realized that I have more than one habit, compulsion, indulgence or whatever word might describe having too much of something we know we should have less of. This is not specifically on topic so I will put it in a spoiler, but my realization has only come about as I stopped drinking daily…

@tmbg1 Less is always good! I am still one day at a time. Hang in there anything less than before is something to congratulate yourself for. @sarah7591 Grats on day 10! What type of kombucha do you drink? I have heard all about the health benefits and I really want to find one that I like, but I tried one at a farmer's…

Day 8 AF Bubble baths and hot chocolate are helping most on evenings. Witching hour over. Hope everyone is having a good weekend

ROFL Mrs Sock!! She looks amazing, love the pearl necklace and jaunty hat :D
-
Thank you @MissMay. I am really proud of 7 days, I'm just taking it one day at a time like most in here so it doesn't make it difficult when I see people post about having a drink. I started this week expecting I would probably go for my goal of 4 days AF out of 7, but I just got inspired - I saw your link to TAE when I…

Day 7. Had to fast for my labs and it was easier than it would normally be if I had been drinking the night before. I've been watching a bunch of documentaries I found on Youtube that I found motivating. Working hard on my 'inner dialogue' to talk to myself more kindly. After writing down each time I caught myself being…

The Alcohol Experiment (TAE) is a 30 day free online program by Annie Grace, the same person who wrote the book The Naked Mind. I sound like an advert LOL - I am working though it and finding it super helpful and informative so far. I'm only on day 5.
-
@Womona I definitely hear you on the sleep issue! I am struggling with sleep still, but I think it was quite a bit better last night, and now day 5 AF is behind me. I am interested to see if cutting out alcohol helps with my joint issues as I am being tested for rheumatoid arthritis, and I have osteo in my hips, spine, and…

@Lilylady3k she is so precious, what a little darling! Has mum and dad chosen a name yet? @Womona I remember you mentioned TAE, did it have any long term benefits for you? I wish I could be AF happily too. When I try to cut back or stop I basically 'white knuckle' grudgingly resisting, but I can see a little twinkle of a…

Do we have a name for creepy sock guy yet? :D I put a sock on my wine, she has eyes too, I chose a sock with a face because yours made me laugh so much I'm weathering the witching hour with a hot chocolate and snuggling down feeling cosy. I can feel the withdrawals a little, nothing too bad just a little headache,…

Happy new year! I am just the same as you describe - after one I want another. Recently I had a conversation with my doctor about alcohol and I was pretty unhappy to hear that the recommended amount for women is no more than ONE drink per day :o and one drink is defined as 5 oz of wine, 12 oz of beer, or 1.5 oz of spirits…

Oh my goodness congratulations!!!! How exciting, hope you post some pics, enjoy your precious little princess <3
-
The Alcohol Experiment - it is a free 30 program, I just started so I don't know that much about it yet, @MissMay linked it on the first page I think, that is where I saw it.

Thank you, yes I got the audio version of This Naked Mind, really like it so far!
-
Thank you! I am feeling really invested in TAE, I got the book from the library and following the daily videos online. It's one day at a time for me though right now, I'm not really feeling confident enough to get my hopes up for a dry January, but day three AF! Yay!
-
Had a good day today, day 3 AF (which believe me, hasn't happened in longer time than I care to admit)! I am so happy to see others are doing TAE! Being able to share how we get along with it will be awesome. I am in the one day at a time camp with you guys, and @lmlmrn sometimes one hour at a time for me too. :# Tonight…

Witching hour indeed, holding fast here too. Using distractions, got a bubble bath and listening to audio book "This Naked Brain, Control Alcohol". Don't touch the sock!
