Thanks for the responses regarding alcohol in the house. It is interesting to see everyone has a different take on it. If I were living alone I probably would prefer not to have any in, but my husband likes an occasional drink so we will have some. I have started the 'Alcohol Experiment' on 'This Naked Mind' and I am…

Hello again to familiar peeps, and welcome to new comers! Let's do this!! @Lilylady3k Thank you for your response, I am pretty much the same way when it comes to wine, I feel I have all the resolve of a wet tissue in evenings if wine is in the house. Not so much with liquor, I can ignore that mostly. @looneycatblue I want…

I'm thinking through my goals and the ways in which I will try to help myself reach them. Question to others who are reducing (but not going completely dry). Do you have alcohol in the house on the days you plan to not drink? Does having it in the house on days you are abstaining make it more difficult?

Hello all, I'm in and thank you for the resources @MissMay

Hi all, do you drink because you are anxious? I think I do. It hasn't been going so well for me this week, but I've been reading through a few of your posts and I find inspiration and comfort in seeing others doing well. My anxiety has been really high, like that type of anxiety where you feel that something terrible is…

I have had a lot of sleep problems because the alcohol tends to let me fall asleep but wake up a few hours later and not be able to get back off. I tried melatonin once and it did nothing for me, then I saw someone on this thread mention Olly sleep gummies and thought I would try them. Well, I was shocked, they really do…

I'm getting ready for August with new good intentions. Just thinking through what goal I should set for myself for the month. I look forward to following along with everyone through August and a huge thank you @MissMay for all the wonderful information and links above, and for keeping this thread going.

We are planning an RV trip, what is the best time of year to visit South Dakota?

How did his weight do after he got his thyroid corrected? Did he maintain a reasonable weight loss for the rest of his life? I ask because I am having the same sort of situation with one of my cats and my vet hasn't suggested testing her thyroid, but maybe I should ask her to.

Hey all, I'm back. It's been a few months, a few months of - well you know, I felt all my good intentions slip through my fingers, and I ended up drinking daily again. I don't even know why. Main thing is, I am back and trying. I am so glad this thread is here and I appreciate all of you.

AF last night Power has been out for 24 hours in our neighborhood, but it just came up, hoping to get the house heated a bit before it cuts out again. Still love snow, don't love that the wind turbines froze :#

My physiotherapist taught me to do them for core strength. You have to pull in really hard, much harder than you would think, for them to be really effective though.

I'm having the same struggle, I am doing great with my AF days, but failing to keep to the 1, or max 2 drinks on the days that I do drink. @Tesha231 That sounds like a good plan, I would be tempted to join you for Lent if I were a little further in my journey. @Lilylady3k Beautiful flowers!! Enjoy the snow, I am in San…

Finally snow in Texas!!! My son was racing around outside building a snowman at 1 am, he hasn't seen snow in years he was only 10 when we left the UK. We are having rolling power cuts to conserve. I'm waiting for the power to come back up so I can have coffee, then going for a walk with hubby. It's so beautiful, makes me…

Happy Valentine's everyone. Hope you are all having a good weekend. Last night was a bust. I don't want to think how many calories I consumed in both food and drink. I did log it, but I'm not looking :( On the positive side at least I had an AF day between drinking on Thurs and Sat, so that's something, and at least I…

I eat high fiber options where I can, as kshama said above all those things, plus I use Metamucil daily which is mostly soluble fiber. I was having a lot of stomach issues and I began to think I might have IBS, but it was by looking at my logging to see what I had eaten that I finally pinpointed that I had eaten products…

The amount of sodium in many of the foods I was eating! I moved countries a few years ago and suddenly started having massive headaches. I thought it was stress, and it took a little while for me to realize that the similar foods I was buying were much higher in sodium than my old brands. Sure enough, when I cut my sodium…

Yes, it is to increase fiber. The one I take is the powder - Metamucil - it is in a sachet that you mix with water and tastes quite pleasant of orange. You have a great weekend too :)

Many of us have diets that don't include enough fiber, which is very important for bowel health, my doctor said that if you include more fiber in your diet you will benefit immediately. Also, if you are recommended to get a colonoscopy get one as they will spot any pre-cancerous polyps early and they grow very slowly -…

I take fish oil daily, and a psyllium husk fiber supplement that my doc told me to use. I get lots of Vit D from walking outdoors every day and my last labs didn't show any deficiencies so I am not taking a multivitamin right now, but I would if I thought I needed to.

I took a quick look at your diary, and now I am craving toad in the hole!! You are eating a good range, but I notice your fat levels are lower than your goal many days, unless you are on a low-fat diet for medical reasons you might consider adding in more healthy fats, they are high in calories so can help to reach…

It can be frustrating when the scale doesn't show what you expected it to. If you give your height, current weight and set your diary to open (even just temporarily so people can help try to spot anything that might be having an adverse effect). This might be helpful too.

Yes I have some that do that, and I use them that way often, but when I am measuring a cooked dish that has been made in the pan I don't want to empty the contents just so I can press the button to zero out the weight of the pan, that would dirty another pan to wash as @mtaratoot pointed out. So knowing the weight of my…

If making rice or pasta just for myself I will just go by the dry amount that I weigh out in grams before cooking, but if I am making rice for the family it becomes a little more tricky as I will have 4x the serving size in the pan, but of course, the weight is different when it has absorbed the water. So to make it easier…

Wow, you don't look any heavier at 132 than 117 but you look so much more toned and athletic, I would never have looked at those two photos and thought the second was 15 lbs more. Did you follow a particular program, or use a personal trainer? Any tips would be awesome. tyia

You look fantastic! Is the third pic at 134? Or is that before you started bulking to build muscle?
