I often go to the gym with my hair and make up done because I go during my lunch hour from work. There isn't enough time to fully redo my hair and make up after my workout, so I've found ways to just shower my body and then freshen my hair and face without washing it. However, I do know the kind of girls the OP is…

I'd love to do this, and I'm local. However my husband works on Saturdays, so I'd have both of my kids with me. I don't think a hilly run with 2 kids in a jogging stroller is something I'm capable of just yet. :)

I'm 5'3.5 and my ultimate goal is 135-140 lbs. I'm 149 now. I've been as low as 118 back in my 20s, but I'm 40 now and I've had 2 kids, so I'm going to stay realistic.:)

I kept Cliff bars in my car, so if I got really hungry I could have a night-time snack. I used to be in class until 10PM, and often didn't get home until close to midnight. But normally I just had coffee. Lots of coffee! Also, I'm not advocating doing this. I was just pointing out that it won't make you fat of dead. I was…

You need to use the buttons on the right hand side to enter your settings. Use the bottom button to get to settings, the middle button to hit OK. Then push the bottom button again until you get to user information, middle button to say OK. The first thing that pops up is weight. Use the top and bottom buttons to input your…

My daughter is in kindergarten, and I was pretty shocked to find out that she only has gym twice a week. Even in gym class, they rarely do anything too physically active. The only real physical activity they get is daily recess, and that only lasts for 10-15 minutes. So yes, I definitely think they need more physical…

The thinnest I have ever been in my adult life was reached by eating only one meal a day. For me it was lunch, and I wasn't doing it intentionally. I was working full-time during the day and going to grad school full time at night. I'm not saying it's the healthiest way to live, and I can't do it now that I'm older and not…

I think the general consensus is that a multivitamin is healthy for most people. But vitamins, like anything else, can be overdone. I know my mother used to keep our entire refrigerator door full of vitamins when I was growing up. She was constantly popping mega-doses of individual vitamins. She has lots of health problems…

Bump. Anyone?

Sorry I don't have an actual "recipe", but I cook it in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and garlic, and I like to mix the spinach with some other healthy, but less palatable greens (chard, kale, mustard greens, etc.). Just cut the other greens into small strips and cook them first until soft, then mix in the baby spinach and…

Very true! I once tried these herbal weight loss supplements. Take one pill with a full glass of water one hour before eating. And they worked. They worked because they made me feel so violently ill that I couldn't imagine eating anything. Who wants to live like that?!

I've gone from an 18 down to a 10, and I've actually bought clothes at every size drop. It's my treat to myself for losing weight. Not a full new wardrobe of clothes, but at least a few key pieces that I can mix and match with other things.

I wear Brooks Adrenaline running shoes, because I also overpronate, and I've never had a problem doing Zumba in them. However, I think you're technically supposed to wear dance shoes.

I live just outside of DC. The Holiday Inn on C St. is nice and usually pretty decently priced for its location. It's right behind the Air and Space Museum, so in easy walking distance of all the Smithsonian museums. Be prepared that you could spend days in each Smithsonian museum and still not see the whole thing. I'm not…

I'm so very sorry that you're going through this. Yes, I have been in a similar situation with my grandmother (who raised me from age 2 to my teenage years). I won't say my situation was the same though because my grandmother was 99 years old when I had to make my decision, and she had clearly told me that she wanted to…

That seems high to me for low intensity. I do a very high intensity Zumba class with a HRM, and I burn about 500-600 calories/hour. I'm 5'4 and 150 lbs. I burned about 50 cal/hr more when I was heavier (180s).

Atheist leaning agnostic here.

This exactly! I had the same experience with my grandmother. At 99 years of age, she broke both hips and ended up with double pneumonia and congestive heart failure in the hospital. She was begging the doctors to end her life for 3 months, but they couldn't. As her medical power of attorney, I finally chose to remove her…

Thanks for all the tips. I have 2 small children, which is why I normally run on the treadmill. Pushing 100lbs of kids and stroller is a little more than I can handle!

I ran a Turkey Trot last Thanksgiving, back when my best treadmill time was 40 minutes. I ran the race in 35. I've signed up for another race next month, so I'm curious to know what my time will be. I have dreams of running a marathon some day, so maybe I should focus on the 10K.

Not as much as I should. That's a good tip!

Can you order exercise DVDs to do at home? I generally work out at home because I have 2 small kids, and it's just too much of a hassle to go out most of the time. I really like the Beachbody DVDs (P90X, Turbo Jam, etc.). I'm not sure if there are any censorship issues with shipping these to Saudi Arabia?

The one time in my life that I tried a juice fast, I found myself completely obsessing about food. It was literally all I could think about. I was supposed to stay on the fast for a week, but I stopped after 3 days because I couldn't stand it anymore. It might work for some people, but it definitely didn't work for me.

I think it totally depends on your frame. I'm also 5'3, and my long-term goal is between 135-140. I tend to carry a lot of muscle and have a fairly large frame. I've also been as low as 118, but it wasn't through healthy means and I don't think I looked very good.

I met Paul Newman once when I was a kid (too young to realize just how famous he was). My father used to take me to the car races, which I hated, but he also had passes to get into the pit area. I met Paul Newman there one afternoon when he was done racing for the day. He was pretty drunk, and not very nice, but I think…

I've been through this a couple of times with my daughter who's almost 6. The first time it happened was when she was 4, after a year of being potty trained and having no accidents, she suddenly started pooping in her underwear. However, my grandmother (her great-grandmother) had passed away a few weeks before it started,…

I was just wondering, have you been off of hormones long enough to know what a normal period would be like for you? I was considering Paraguard after the birth of my 2nd child, since I was done having kids and my hubby didn't want to get snipped. I asked my gyn about it, and she said that she wouldn't recommend for me…

Graduated in 1990 at about 175 lbs. Currently I'm 154 lbs., but in the 20+ years in between I've been everything from 118 to 222 lbs.

I also have an FT4, but when my strap isn't tight/wet enough it reads my HR as 00. I don't get that message about checking the transmitter. So I think it must be something else.

Boobs. So unfair!
