  • I'm looking to lost about 75 pounds in total, and over the past 2 months I have managed to drop about 5% body fat.and I have been running a daily food deficit of 350. ( and 2 to 3 times a week take a extra 1000 to 1200 from excercise ) My protein in tank isn't that great but isn't too bad either ( between .75 to 1.2 grams…
  • what is this TDEE method? TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expeniture, Put less energy into your body than it uses and you will loose weight.
  • melbourne, pakenham here. anyone else doin tough mudder in sept?
  • We call it energy because that's exactly what it is, you don't actually need to consume any fat. If you look at a breakdown (off the top of my head) 1g protein = 4 calories. 1g Carbohydrates = 4 calories. 1g fat = 9 calories, 1g alcohol = 9 calories. If you study physics then you will know that energy is measured in joules…
  • even though you might not feel tired when/after exercising if your body has adequate fuel then you will be able to go harder and faster. Y If you dont feel tired after excercise then you are probbably not doing it right regardless of diet., push youself a bit harder or go for longer. If you dont eat enough calories your…
  • This isn't always the case, ive lost a crapton of weight and I still wear all of my fat guy clothes to work simply because years ago I got rid of all of my smaller sizes and I seriously cannot be bothered to go out and buy more.
  • 1000 calories is about much a 3 yearold should be taking in. do you log things like coffee or milk? (Before I started to log my intake of everything I may or may have not drank about 10 to 15 cups a day.)
  • depends, if you are doing a special K "diet" of some form then probably not, if you want to eat special K (or many of their delicious products) then go ahead as long as you keep to your goals (protein, carb, fat, calorie, etc). (I eat lots of the special K bars to increase my calorie count on days when its low. ) But on that…
  • we have a fitbit aria, I swear by it. every morining I simply hop on it and then it keeps track of my measurements online.
  • I treat martial arts days cardio days and make sure that I get one real rest day in each week.
  • This depends how proficient you are at punching, if you have little martial arts experience I would recommend gloves, We train a lot with focus pads, handheld bags, boards and tiles in my dojo with no protective equipment so im pretty used to it. Personally I just bare knuckle the bag with proper punches if I am going at a…
  • To me these seem like fad diets, I believe that if you are one for those sorts of things google the "dr. rudy diet" and watch his instructional youtube video, but in all honesty its actually based on some damn solid science and will work pretty well.
  • I have a PT, (he's actually a old friend of mine who happen's to be one), I use his services to pretty much teach me how to train more efficiently and with more structure. At the moment my goal is to continue to loose weight for a while until I reach about 80kg and then to restructure my diet and gain back some of that…
  • Personally I only log intentional exercise (e.g. time in the gym or dojo), it helps with motivation to see a big fat zero in the exercise column.
  • here is your problem, right there. your meals are backwards you are having breakfast at dinner time and dinner at breakfast time... how about trying this.. wake up: 5pm eat breakfast. (do this as close to waking up as possible.) First 'long' break at work: eat 'lunch' 3-4 hours before sleep: eat 'dinner' (smallest meal of…
  • meat for breakfast works, 200->400 g of boiled chicken breast, 1/2 cup of egg-whites (fried without oil) and a few slices of shaved turkey (browned in an oil-less frying pan) can come in at a rather reasonable calorie count _AND_ give you a nice percentage of your daily protein intake
  • I put my mitts and pad's in with a few gi's (gi's get washed after every use though) and my pad's have been washed once (Ive had this set for about 3 years) Its a 1 hour/30 minute wash with the 'eco friendly' powder and it has a extra long rinse cycle. After that everything goes in the dryer (although the mitts and pads…
  • I use GNC brand (chocolate flavour) and use a little bit less water than what they reccomend (approx 200ml) and it tastes pretty good + is fairly cheap with a GNC card.
  • my hand mits are pushing 10 years now, they have gone pretty 'crunchy' but dont smell _that_ bad. I just put them in washing machine every few years.
  • I had over 30 to loose, but im about halfway there
  • here's the trick, a HRM makes a guess with all of your details in it and based on your activity level (by measuring your heart-rate) the 'apps' make a guess based on the average person. both are not completely accurate but the HRM will atleast be in the correct ballpark. my HRM is within 10 cal of the MFP app for cardio on…
  • I built a full home gym for under $500, I got a lot of second hand items and a fair few freebies. but really, you can lift heavy without very much more equipment than random household items, you just have to get creative. (if my memory serves me correctly there is a book called convict conditioning, which describes what…
  • punching bag (or speed bag) are both awesome for cardio work if you want to give your lower body a rest.
  • let me tell you a story, in 2006 I weighed about 70 kg ( a weight I had been at for years). then I quit smoking for 3 months, I ended up weighing about 85 kg by the time I started again... Since then it has been slowly creeping up to 112 kg (dec 2012). since trying to loose weight I am back down to 92.
  • how is it harder to stay on track during the weekend? there are 100 chores to do around the house to keep you busy and more time for the gym than weekdays (you should be able to get a daytime session in as well as your regular nightly session in)
  • if in south australia go visit barnacle bill, get the pack that has all the things (fish sticks, prawns and calamari. the seafood staples. ) Alternatively get flake (aka shark) or hake (aka butterfish), calamari rings and prawns from your local fish and chip shop. And dont forget tartare sauce since thats a staple when…
  • I do my best to not eat back exercise calories at all. Seems to work for me, I have plenty of energy (even when I was on 1440 cal per day, ive recently upped that to 1860 per day), I Exercise 300 to 850 6 days a week, now that my martial art is back for the year apparently I am doing 1200+ 1 day a week (but I take that…
  • Im just going to respond with dot points because it will be easier. 1) When you are up late you will be hungry. If I have to be up late I try to drink some coke zero or pepsi max energy which tricks my body into thinking that its not hungry (probbably due to artificial sweeteners and caffeine) without stacking on the…
  • every morning after my pee, My scales also do my body fat% and upload automatically to MFP so then I make my morning coffee, grab breakfast and sit infront of the computer to check my results and morning emails. But on that note I can handle minor rises in weight.
