  • Hi, Nice work! Go into Reports and check the quality of your calories. Are you eating junk? Too much sugar? I also found that cutting the carbs to half of what MFP allows [and making sure they are quality carbs, not white bread, not rice] helps me move forward. Also check your sugars---they should come from fruit. More…
  • We have fantastic used clothing shops with many brand new, very nice clothes. It really helps to get rid of the baggies and find something that fits at a reasonable cost.
  • Hang in there! After stalling a few weeks ago I went through my food diary [with the Reports Tab] and looked carefully at the quality of my calories, sugar, protein and more. I cut my carbs in half [by cutting wheat, potatoes], upped my protein and cut my sugar [to mostly fruits]. Suddenly I'm losing again. I don't believe…
  • Fantastic! Congratulations! Doesn't it feel great?
  • Hi, Though the media image is of the emaciated vegan, sadly I know many overweight vegans....seems surreal doesn't it? I think some [not all] vegans overeat pasta, breads, beans, rice and especially sugar---some of them seem to be hungry all the time. I say some, not all, I have not been able to maintain good health on a…
  • You are amazing! Just keep going, keep training. You look radiant and should be proud of yourself.
  • Lots of good shoe advice here! *Only run on soft surfaces [hard-packed trails, treadmill, grass, asphalt roads---but never, ever on cement sidewalks or paths] * Water running in a deep pool using a running vest until the knees heal *Ice those knees. Good luck!
  • Hi, I started running about 20 years ago when I was in my mid-thirties. I thought I couldn't run though I longed to do so. A woman in my yoga class encouraged me to do just try. I began by running early in the morning so no one could see me----I made every mistake [bad shoes, ran on cement, ran too fast to be able to…
  • No carb is impossible. I am on a moderate carb [which is about 1/2 of what MFP gives me]. It is working great. I eat lots of protein [more than what MFP gives me]. I'm not hungry and am losing weight. Good luck.
  • More protein, especially first thing in the morning helped me cut my cravings. I eat breakfast [low in carbs, high in protein] no matter if I'm hungry or not, it cuts those cravings. To me your diet looks too heavy in carbs.....but you should do what works for you. I try to limit my carbs about half of what MFP gives me.…
  • I've run 30 marathons but still remember when I began: 1) Run slower! Take walking breaks and run slow enough so that you can talk---this might seem counter-intuitive, but really it is the way to start running. 2) Never, ever run on hard surfaces [sidewalks and concrete]---better for you knees, back and general "pain" to…
  • I was injured too and now can't run or even walk well---but I CAN swim and use the stationary bike. I wonder what you can do?
  • Hi--I've been losing weight at a pretty steady, healthy rate by eating half of the carbs on MFP but always allowing myself more protein. People on this site and in the world will swear by their own manner of losing weight---less carbs, more protein, limited sugar and wheat--this works for me. Experiment and see. Good luck.
  • I like to eat complete foods. So I eat the yolks. But I only eat eggs 2-3 times per week.
  • Hi, You really can do it, but getting started.....I wonder if you need to eat more protein for breakfast and start cutting down on the carbs [oatmeal is great but lots of carbs). How about eggs or lean turkey bacon or non-fat greek yogurt for breakfast? I find that if I make myself eat a high protein breakfast and then…
  • I finally gave up protein bars---instead I slice apples into thin strips with almond butter on the side, or eat a small baggie of walnuts with dried fruit, or a little tupperware container of Greek Gods Greek Yogurt with fresh berries.....I made this choice because I think protein bars are just candy bars with some added…
  • One day at a time, I tell myself....just for today I'm going to eat a high protein breakfast, then I do it and record everything. Just for today I'm going to ride the stationary bike for 45 minutes [or 10 minutes, or twenty minutes]. Just for today I'm going to drink this whole container of water......break it into small…
  • Thanks for the link. I meditate and journal[just free write every morning]. Both help--with everything, life, change.
  • Congratulations! You should be so proud of yourself!
  • Every day is really effective for me. It helps me see and understand the changes better and keeps me motivated. I only record when I have lost at least 2 pounds--and they stayed lost for at least 5 days. I say; "Do what works for you."
  • Yes! Start anew tomorrow.
  • My sympathy for how frustrating this is--but losing a couple of inches is a great start. I have to ask if you are still drinking soda or even diet soda because quality of calories does matter--a lot! After being stuck I went into Reports and really broke down my eating. I cut out my favorite beverage and replaced it with…
  • My friend, please seek help---5'7" and 125 seems perfect---I think you may have an eating disorder and certainly a distorted image of what you should weigh. I say this seriously as a caring person, don't lose weight, do get some help.
  • When I first started running, 15 years ago [and 30 marathons ago] my mentor told me she always hated the first mile. Me too! But once I get going I love it! Many new runners are trying to run too fast---run slower and enjoy the world around you. I coached running for a long time and feel that new runners lose weight faster…
  • Yes, cry. Then put on your big girl panties and keep at it. I weigh myself daily. I only record when I see a weight change that has remained for 5-6 days. Lots of times I feel frustrated at little gains or lack of loss---finally I took a long, hard look at my food diary---it was mostly good but I wondered if I still eat…
  • Hi, I'm drinking it right now. I love the taste of Organic India Tulsi Pomegranate Green Tea and Celestial Seasonings Pomegranate. Doesn't need any sweetner! Quality matters--I don't think Lipton is going to have the antioxidant properties that the more organic kind do. Enjoy!
  • Yikes, I've been there. You can't run with shin splints and expect them to heal, my doctor said shin splints can take longer to heal than a broken bone [and I found that to be true]. Ice, wrap and rest those shins. Don't run on the treadmill----get into the pool with a running vest and run there until they heal--3-4 weeks,…
  • It gets easier when I step on the scale and see results---plus the new muscle. Hang in there.
  • Congratulations!!!
