HI, Speed training---just throw in a fast 30 seconds for every 5 minutes you run. Or do intervals. Try more distance. Join a track club. Check out Runner's World online for ideas. BUT--build that speed slowly so you don't get hurt. I wish I could still run your mile time...sigh.

Get rid of the sugar-free gum! More cardio---brisk walks, run, bike, dance! I aim for 60-75 minutes of cardio every day. Try closer to eat less than 20 carbs a day. Are your food measurements accurate? Good luck!

Hi, I think you can run a half marathon IF you download a good training program and stick to it. Aim for a walk/run---that is a program that gently builds up your miles per week ---I think you need to get to 20-30 miles per week---but without getting hurt. I suggest Hal HIgdon's Novice program [online, free]. A program…

Watching two youngish friends die of lung cancer....that's painful. Both smokers who tried many times to quit and used every rationale in the book for not quitting. I don't smoke and never have, I have tremendous sympathy for those who do---but hope that you keep trying to quit. They say it take 5-10 serious attempts to…

Water running with a flotation vest!

Tyr works well for me can be a tight squeeze putting them on but swimming fit is great!

I'm coming from a lifetime of sugar cravings--after a few weeks on a low-carb diet I have not been experiencing them at all....I can't explain it, I don't have science to back this up.....but I am thrilled and my weight is dropping. So my low carb plan---I cut ALL wheat, all corn, all potatoes for starts--the first few…

As painful as it was morally, I had to start eating meat to get healthy and strong [at the advise, long resisted, of my medical advisor]---some people thrive as vegetarians, I was not one of them. I only eat organic, grass fed meat, cage-free eggs, non treated milk. I am very strong now, close to my ideal weight and am…

When I went low-carb, high quality.....I know there are lots of bashers on here, but try it and check it out for yourself. Everything doesn't work for everyone, but something should work and that can take an open mind and lots of experimentation. I also exercise a lot [always have]. Good luck.

Hi, I'm lowcarb---I just feel better in every way. Looking for good lowcarb snacks besides meat, dairy.....allergic to fish. Also, I'm an athlete looking for quick snacks for before, during, after long runs and biking. Good luck! Shoney

Hi, You have my sympathy. Like you, I have had to cut some foods completely from my diet because I can't eat just a bite---it is easier for me not to start with some foods. I have to go out to eat fairly often and hosts frequent potlucks. I plan ahead by reading the menu and deciding ahead of time exactly what I will eat,…

One idea---exercise is always an option.....lifting heavy cans of beans while in the kitchen, leg raises while watching TV, sit ups while watching TV, if physically able: take stairs instead of steps [and then do those stairs a bunch more times], walk/pace while waiting for water to boil, jumping jacks.....if small…

Great job. Lots of ideas for you above--- and are you adding salad dressing to your salads? Sometimes they are full of fat and calories. Some "salads" too, especially at restaurants are packed with lots of calories [think: croutons, cheese, olives and more....]. Good luck!

Hmmm, I LOVE my "diet" which isn't a diet at all but just the way I eat: greek yogurt with blueberries big salads green juices lean meats fresh fruits Hey sister, wean yourself off whatever it is that puts on the pounds and learn to love real food, not bland at all, and maybe your spirits will be lifted. Also a nice walk…

I LOVE The Greek Gods, Plain.

Please don't do this. It is very dangerous for you and the dog. I was a witness to a bad accident on a very mellow street---dog was startled, pulled woman down into a car---woman was being loaded into the ambulance and asked if I [a stranger] would take her dog home, a few blocks away and lock him in the backyard. Woman…

Okay Sister, this is serious. Get counseling. Call a battered women's shelter [controlling spouses often end up as batterers]. Set your limits and stick to them. Here's a phrase: "Honey, I love you but I AM in charge of my body and I will work out. If you want to discuss it you are welcome to come to counseling with me, if…

Go Bob==you can do it!

If you run, you are a runner. Visualize yourself running your best and claim your title. Good luck!

Hi, I've coached many runners---please try pool running until those pounds come down. You wear a vest and run in deep water [your feet don't hit the pool floor]. This is a great exercise and will keep you in running shape until you can hit the trails again. It is also very cool in the summer. Pool running is how many…

Hi, I think you would benefit from adding in some swimming or pool running [you wear a vest that keeps you up and allows you to run without the negative impact of the weight on your joints---great exercise and a good transition to running on land]. Good luck, you can do it!
-
I'm in the same boat: 1) swimming 2) stationary bike 3) pool running [with a vest to take the weight off your knees] Good luck!
-
NO, absolutely not. Never. No matter what! Don't even be tempted to bring it up. Seriously. No. Good luck with the job, dress your best and smile, smile, smile because you have the SECRET strength to know that you lost a hunk of weight and can do anything.

Okay friend, here is some tough love---[but really, it is said with love]-- 1) Move out on your own. I know, I know it is expensive, you can't afford while paying off student loans, looking for a job and blah, blah, blah....do it. Do it for yourself, your health and your pride. 2) Don't lecture your family about their…

WOW! Congratulations!

If you feel great in it--wear it and have fun!

Hey Friend, More REAL food: eggs, lean meats, black beans, avacados, greens and well, you get my drift.....less shakes and pre-made meals. I know this can be challenging for some people in the beginning, but really I eat all real food and it takes me minutes to prepare. Good luck!

I know someone who did this and much later, heartbreak realized her husband was gay [he didn't realize he was gay when they married and loved her, just not in that way]. Like most other responders here, it is a personal choice and only you [and your partner] get to decide---BUT, I worry that your/or his expectations and…
