  • Yes,,, I "deconstruct" my homemade recipes and list each ingredient seperately.
  • I had those same thoughts Friday night while eating my "cheat meal" in a restaurant. " We are leaving all this food on our plates while people in Haiti are eating (if they are lucky), dry nutritional 'biscuits' thrown at them from a truck."
  • Not all fat is created equal. If the fat is coming from healthy sources such as almonds or avocados, then I would not worry about it.
  • It happens to me when I wear running shoes on the eliptical. I bought some lighter more flexible shoes and this helps.
  • On cool evenings, I prefer a peeled chopped apple sprinkled with cinnamon and Splenda. Zap it in the microwave and top it with a bit of whipped topping and a tablespoon of your favorite granola or cereal ( I use Kashi Go Lean crunch cereal)
  • A low cal root beer float: A diet root beer with a scoop of fat free, sugar free vanilla ice cream.
  • Dear Totally Frustrated, I was frustrated too. My efforts were going unrewarded ( little or no weight loss) even after weeks of hard work. I went to the doctor and found out I have LOW thyroid function. I have an appt. with an endocrinologist, and hopefully with proper treatment I will start to see results.
  • As I mentioned on another post, if you are honestly burning more calories than you take in and are not losing any weight, you might want to get your thyroid function checked.

  • You may want to get your thyroid checked if this continues. I have been very disciplined by restricting calories and exercising for 6 weeks and have not lost any significant amount of weight. I went to the doctor this week and had blood work done. Sure enough, my thryroid function is LOW and I have made an appointment with…
  • Congratulations! Men are usually able to lose weight at a faster rate than women (especially MIDDLE-AGED women). You have a very good point regarding increasing every day activity instead of just waiting for scheduled "workouts".
  • I agree it takes time to see a real FAT loss. I have been very diligent with exercise (400-600 calories 5X per week) and eating 1200-1400 calories a day ( not using the extra calories earned for exercising) and have lost 4 1/2 pounds in 4 1/2 weeks. I am in my late 40's and need to lose the 25 + pounds I've gained in the…
  • That's fantastic! You're instilling healthy habits in your girls AND instead of vegging out in front of the television or computer, they get to spend quality time in the great outdoors with mom.
  • I forgot an ingredient in the above recipe: sliced onions.

  • My husband and I are both using this site and we just came up with this recipe: Place tilapia fillets (or other mild fish) in a large skillet, top with a can of diced tomatoes and some sliced mushrooms and sliced jalapenos (optional). Simmer until fish flakes easily. We sprinkled a teaspoon of parmesan cheese over each…

  • Peel and chop an apple (or peach), place in a dish, sprinkle with a teaspoon or two of Splenda and a dash of cinnamon, toss, and place in microwave for a few minutes. Top with a tablespoon of your favorite granola (or slivered almonds). If you have calories left to spend, top with lowfat vanilla yogurt.
