@lindsey1979 - I have Hashi's. Endos #1 and #2 did not even want to test for gluten allergy. Endo #3 did but she was satisfied with the fact that the test was negative.

I am really impressed by your doctor. None of the ones I have dealt with in the past was even ready to admit that a sensitivity is real thing.

My three "taster packs" arrived yesterday and I mixed some hemp powder in my oatmeal today. I am pleased to say it was hardly noticeable. The rice powder is next to be tried. Not sure about the pea protein, I tried it on its own and it was really unpleasant ( to put it mildly ). Maybe I will try to add it to some savoury…

Love it. I'm going through a rough patch at the moment - a big b-day is coming and I feel a bit demotivated because I am not in control of my body. But I hope I will get there one day. Get my stars aligned :-)
-
Thank you very much for your input - maybe I will start with the rice one.
-
Thanks @slieber. I'll check my printouts.

Sadly none of the endos I have seen was interested in the FT3/FT4 values. They checked them but since it was in the lower end of the norm they concluded that I was "fine". Lol.
-
Since it is virtually impossible to get T3 meds or nature thyroid in Germany, I try to help myself by supplementing with Vit D ( + K ), iron and B complex vitamins.
-
How can you check it? Is there a test for it? What's its name? I always thought that the whole "adrenal fatigue" was dismissed by traditional medicine so never bothered to ask for a test.

I do not eat back my calories. I wear two exercise trackers ( Fitbit and a Polar watch ) which both give me between 2200 and 2500 kcal burned per day. I average 1800-2000 kcal per day foodwise and only about manage to maintain at the moment. In May I lost about a pound a week on the same deficit. When asked about it, my…

Poor concentration and tingling could be a sign of low iron. How low is "somewhat low"?
-
That's exactly what I hoped for as well!!! "Hey, I finally know what is wrong with me! I'll pop the pills and feel fine". LOOOL.
-
Feel free to add me - hypo ( diagnosed in 2009, but had been symptomatic for years before ) caused by Hashi ( diagnosed in 2012 after my pregnancy ).
-
I have read about it as well but I have not experienced such a strong correlation myself - I mean I feel like my Hashi can strike anytime :-((( True, my last winter was dreadful but so was early summer the year before. On the other hand my winter pregnancy was fantastic. So you never know...

I usually eat 45-50% carbs, 20-25% protein and the rest is fat. I have never tried a low carb diet, it would not be sustainable for me.
-
@RedBec7 I think that in May my thyroid was working as it would if I were a healthy person. I always maintain a 500 kcal deficit, only in May I was actually loosing weight and now I am not. What I have learnt over the last couple of years is that my TSH level does not directly correspond to how good or bad I feel. I had a…

I had something like this in May. I started to take my meds about 2 hrs before my breakfast ( as opposed to 1/2 hr before ) and went off the pill. Within 4 weeks I lost 3.5 kg ( without changing my dietary or exercise habits and it was not water ( I have a body composition scale ) ). Then it stopped as suddenly as it…

Welcome! Feel free to add me as a friend ( I have Hashimoto's ). As to your questions - basically what MeepleMuppet already said + for me it made a big difference to have a longer gap between my meds and my breakfast ( I wake up at 5:30, take my pill and go back to sleep. In this way, I usually have 2 hrs gap. ) and my…

From what I have read on other websites, the reasoning is that Paleo removes grains / pulses from your diet which are inflammatory for some people. So less inflammation = your body has more chance to heal itself. But you are right @midwesterner85, no one claims that it is going to restore your thyroid.

@RedBec7 I find it irritating and interesting at the same time that things that work for one person do not work for others. I ( with Hashi ) feel bad when I do not exercise. And it has to be a type of exercise that actually makes me sweat, otherwise it doesn't seem to count.

I have Hashi's so I am in a slightly different boat ( and on a bigger dose - 100 at the moment ) but a friend of mine was in the same situation as you are - problems losing weight plus thinning hair. She had a short course of L-Thyroxine and it seems to have helped.
-
Agreed.
-
Another Hashi buddy here. Diagnosed in 2009 but had been symptomatic for much longer. On L-Thyroxine ( natural thyroid hormones are not prescribed in Germany ). Sometimes maintaining on 500 - 700 kcal deficit, sometimes gaining, sometimes ( happened twice in the last 10 years ) losing. Feel free to add me.
-
At the moment I am maintaining my weight eating between 1800 and 2000 kcal.
-
75 mcg is not really soooo low. A friend of mine has no thyroid after a cancer treatment and she is on 200 mcg.
-
Amazing story. Wishing you all the best.
-
My endo said ( I have Hashi's ) that my thyroid would fluctuate ( on the downward slope to stopping to function entirely ). I usually have bad winters and good summers.
-
Good luck with finding a good endocrinologist. Your regular doctor seems to be making right decisions as well - taking Vit D helped me a lot! I take the following supplements regularly: - iron ( I tend to be borderline anemic no matter how much iron I take ) - Vit D ( 1000 IU in sommer, 2000 IU in winter ) - Omega 3…

I'm 5'7'', 39 and seem to more or less maintain at 1800 kcal when my thyroid is not doing so well ( I have Hashi's ). When it is functioning properly, I lose about a pound a week at this calorie allowance. I spend about 50 mins a day on my bike ( commute to work ) and exercise 30-40 mins six times a week ( weights or own…

I'm looking forward already!!! I hope it will work as good as it looks.
