It's great that you want to do that to be a great role model for your kids. But just be aware that trying to lose 40 pounds by the end of the year is going to be pushing it. It'll be at the outer edges of the safe range of 2 pounds a week. Especially considering we have Thanksgiving and Christmas to get through, 2 holidays…

False. Ish. Past my initial weight, not at 2nd goal weight. TNP likes anchovies on their pizzas.

The problem with doing it daily is that the body will fluctuate daily, even if done at exactly the same time, exactly the same conditions. I do one "official" weigh-in about once a week (sometimes I skip a week) but always the same day of the week under the same conditions, same time of day, same clothes. I do weigh myself…

Glad to have accepted your invitation. If you need anything, or if I can help in any way, please don't be bashful about asking. That's what we're here for. You can do this. If I can do this at my very, very, VERY advanced age  rehabbing from a total knee replacement, you got this down cold.

I certainly use my TDEE, but I use the actual data to calculate it rather than a calculator on line. Once you have enough information and you can honestly say that you have entered all the data honestly in your food diary and have weighed yourself under the same conditions on multiple occasions, you can calculate what your…

Rob, we'd certainly need a lot more info about you before anyone could help you with that. Info like age, height, current weight, target weight, exercise routine (how often, what type), type of job (is it a desk job or is it an active job where you are on your feel moving all the time). But you are right. The last thing in…

Well if you'd like to have the support of a 57 year old American (gay) guy who's done it (well 45 pounds at least) who loves supporting and motivating his friends, feel free to add me. I'd love to add more British friends (I have a few already). I seem to have a rather diverse group of friends, wtih 3 continents, 6-8…

Sorry, didn't see you're reply. Scooby's Workshop is a site that I, and a lot of other people here, use for info on calorie requirements. It also has a lot of other articles on weight loss, body building, and other great topics that may be of interest to you. It has a tools section to help calculate calorie requirements…

I wouldn't dream of it. First I love how it looks on me. And I like how it looks on other guys. But more importantly, my partner loves it. He loves to just run his fingers over my chest through my chest hair. You keep it trimmed and neat if need be, but I'm definitely in the "no" to shaving camp. But I know others disagree.

Very, very false. TNP is at work now.

First, thank you for your service. And if you want to add me who is very positive and supportive of all my friends (but isn't afraid to kick *kitten* when it is needed), please do. OOH-RAH Marine.

You'll be great. I went into my relationship with my trainer not knowing what I would get. That was 3 years ago and we're still together. Now not only is he my trainer, but he is one of my best friends in the world. We torment each other endlessly, as only good friends can do. He was the one got me started here after total…

Is that a banana or are you just happy to see me?

I'm doing a 4 week cyclical keto diet right now. Starting week 2. My diary is open if you want to look. I've taken it to an extreme and gotten my carbs down to single digits. I'm loving it so far. Unfortunately, my weigh-in day is on carb-loading day so weight loss isn't as much as it was earlier in the week, but not…

First of all, thank you for your service. From what I see, it looks like you might be under caloried. Quite a bit under caloried. Using the stats you provided, I plugged them in to the Calorie Calculator over at Scooby's workshop. They estimate your TDEE at 3786 calories/day (with your training plan, that seems good). You…

Google does have better security. I've never had my account breached and had those lovely spam messages come from my google acount but I have from my yahoo account. And I've had a Yahoo account from nearly the beginning. When your Yahoo mail address is simply your first and last name, that's it, and you have a relatively…

True. TNP has MFP friends on 2 or more continents.

We'll see how they look in a week when they get here, but I've ordered a bikini style swimsuit because I finally have the body that can wear one. Not too showy but still a big step. And a couple of new pair of sexy underwear as well. It's one thing we gay boys do love -- our sexy underwear.

Great, now an ad for Brazilian Butt Lift just appeared at the bottom of the page for me. Someone is monitoring us, aren't they?

Welcome to the jungle. Glad to have you here. I think really there are a couple of things that made me successful here. First is the commitment to do it. You have to make the commitment to yourself that you are worth it, that this is for you and your life and you will do what you need to do to get it done. As far as here,…

I think as others have suggested, if you go over the MFP defaults it isn't bad at all. I think they default to 15%, which is low to my way of thinking. Are you going over your weight in grams of protein. In other words, if you weigh 200 pounds, are you going over 200g of protein. If you are under the 1g/pound you should be…

Well you all are welcome to send me a FR. If you want the old gay guy whose had a great deal of success here, and who has an incredible set of friends who I adore and work to motivate them (as they do me), by all means add me. I'm here every day. I hope that you keep your diaries open because I will look. I'm not bashful…

Nope, because it come off tomorrow's allowance. However, before midnight, if you have room in your allowance, plain M&M's have 3.4 calories per M. I've been known to treat myself to a few. I count how many I can have and stay under goal. I've made a small bag of M&M's last a week or more that way. But it does fight off the…

Yahoo is renowned for being able to have accounts hacked and taken over. I've gotten so many spam messages selling junk from friends whose accounts have been taken over. First thing you need to do is get your passwords reset. Changing them often is a good idea. Make the passwords difficult to guess. Some free email sites…

First, welcome to the jungle. 20 pounds by Christmas is completely doable. It works out to about a 500 calorie a day deficit One pound a week. Safe, slow, manageable, sane. A great idea. First piece of advice is to log everything. Be honest about it, because if you forget, you don't want to put something down because you…

Congratulations, you've gone 2.42 ounces over. I hardly think 2.42 ounces on your body would be noticeable, do you? That's what 531 calories converts to. 2.42 ounces. Enjoy it. It'll average out over time.
-
Congratulations. I am proud to have you as a friend here. And I hope you go and celebrate this achievement.

I'd be very leery of an article alone in a magazine which more than likely has a financial stake (through advertising dollars alone) from supplement manufacturers. Citing "a French study" tells nothing of the validity of the study, how it was conducted or anything like that. Remember, the cigarette manufacturers had…

I must have missed the memo. Did someone die and appoint you as the sole expert as to what works and what doesn't? I'll have to check my inbox again.

Studies have shown that 1200 calories seems to be the lowest point anyone can go without their body's metabolism shutting down and going into starvation mode. Going below 1200 occasionally isn't harmful but doing it on a regular basis will almost certainly cause the metabolism to slow to a crawl. And once it is stopped it…
