It would be so nice if I was able to lose weight without logging what I eat, but I can't. This happened when I was a member of weight watchers. At first, I tracked everything that went into my mouth, but then I stopped. I also did their on-line program and the same thing happened. I like the fact that mfp gives you an idea…

Hi, my name is Linda, 55, and I just joined on 12/31/12. I've been struggling with my weight all my life. I have lost and gained numerous times, but now it does seem to be getting more difficult. I lost my husband in March of 2011 and this past July I finally quit smoking. I am an emotional eater and use food for comfort…

I think it is more of a barometer, and it depends if you are being honest in your tracking too, as the cheat day indicated, lol

An amazing story for sure!! I visited her fb page and told her how inspiring she is and liked her page.

I use baby spinach and cram it in the cup - might not be exactly 2 cups, but pretty close. The baby carrots don't take up a lot of room and I cut up the apple (not a big one) and wyman frozen blueberries are tiny. Almonds, chia seeds and protein powder are the last to go in cup before I add the liquid. The thing to…

I'm down 4 lbs since I joined on 12/31/12. I've gained accountability, confidence and motivation since joining mfp - thanks to everyone!!

I gave up wheat products too. I ready "Wheat Belly" by Dr William Davis. I took wheat out of my diet just before Christmas and I feel so much better - and my wheat belly is shrinking. I'm 55 and I quit smoking July 2012, and I want to get healthier and feel better about myself

I think the majority of the mfp community are food addicts---we have used food when we are happy, sad, pissed off, anxious, etc etc etc. The fact that we are overweight/obese is a result of the relationship we have with food. Take it one day at a time. Do not skip meals, especially breakfast. When you have a craving or an…

I've used Leslie Sansone's walking workouts for years as well. I love the way she incorporates the kicks, knee lifts, hamstring curls, sidesteps as well as arm toning movements. I've added hand weights, resistance bands etc to her workouts for extra benefits. I also own many of her dvds, but today I found her on youtube…

I weigh in on Mondays - tomorrow will be my second weigh in. I joined New Year's Eve

I'm alcohol free every month. My husband died of cirrhosis in 2011 and I pretty much stopped alcohol and tylenol products because of that. There are other ways to destress and relax, such as exercise and/or meditation.

I gave up wheat products a couple of weeks before Christmas. I read "Wheat Belly" by Dr, William Davis and he advises to give up wheat because how it is now genetically modified (super dwarf) and no longer the amber waves of grain from my childhood. It causes tremendous blood spikes - the glycemic index of whole wheat…

One of the processed items I've given up.

I have been using my Nutribullet daily since I bought it at Target on Memorial Day 2012. I make a nutriblast every morning and couldn't start my day without it. I think it is better than juicing because there is no pulp to throw away----you drink everything you put in the cup!! There are lots of recipes and you can find…

Congrats on your decision to stop smoking! I quit in July 2012 and didn't initially gain any weight, but when the weather changed in the fall, I started overloading on carbs and gained about 10 lbs. I recently removed wheat from my diet and have dropped about 5 lbs and now that I joined this site on 12/31, the motivation…

Coffee is the nectar of the gods....why would I give that up??

I quit smoking July 2012 with the help of a research study being held at a local hospital. We were given Chantix, counseling, and were put in either a relaxation group or an exercise group. I was lucky enough to get the relaxation group because I thought learning relaxation techniques would help with stress which triggers…

I've recently cut wheat and other grains from my diet (just about one month ago). I do feel so much better, but I do still eat dairy. I eat more veggies, nuts and cheeses and try to limit fruit because of the sugar.

I've been to weight watchers several times with the most recent doing the plan on line. This did work for awhile, but I did eventually stopped tracking and was paying for nothing. I think this site offers what ww did and more---I'm so glad I found it. I'm glad you did too!

I totally agree! I've lost and gained numerous times and it's because I stopped doing what was necessary to lose weight. I've made some lifestyle changes this past year, i.e. not eating red meat. Most recently I stopped eating wheat, after reading "Wheat Belly" by Dr. William Davis. I've watched "Forks Over Knives" and I…

I have a Nutribullet and use it every day to make a breakfast "nutriblast". I don't know if you've ever seen the infomercial for it but it is an amazing machine---much better than a juicer. It extracts the nutrients and everything you put in the cup, including skin, is broken down and liquified to drink. There is nothing…

Today is the first day on this site and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm 55 post menopausal needing to lose 25-30 pounds. I've struggled with weight all of my life. This site is so much like weight watchers on line but FREE and I think the only way I can really lose the weight is to keep track of everything that enters my…
