Wow, that was an intense video. What has happened in Detroit is astonishing and tragic on so many levels. This just adds another dimension to this tragedy. Thank you for bearing witness and bringing the story to those of us who are so far removed.

My official weigh in is on Sunday morning, It keeps me on track over most of the weekend, but lets me have a little slack on Sunday evening, before ramping up for the work week. I also check on Thursday, because I can't help it and want to know how I am doing. I feel I still have time to correct my behavior before the…

Ok ... weighing in on the Brad Pitt issue... I used to think that I didn't like him... not really my type, but then I saw him in 12 Monkeys and came to the conclusion that he was more talented than I gave him credit for. After realizing this I started for find him more attractive. One of my MFP friends has an Enrique…

Update for this week's weight loss.... 158.8 Not much, but I am pleased. My schedule was a little hectic, and I didn't do such a great job planning for it. I was dedicated to logging, but not much else. My Valentine's day goal is within close reach. It will totally keep me motivated as I move into the smaller number phase.…

Are you taking calcium supplements? If so, cut those out for a few days.

If you eat a lot of soy, I would eliminate it. Lost about 10 pounds and most of it came off my belly with just that change.

Congratulations!!! That is really good news. Welcome to MFP. There is lots of support here. Good luck with your journey! feel free to add me as a friend

why isn't this considered spam?

I know that it was mentioned earlier, but I highly recommend "Fast Food Nation" The author, Eric Schlosser, was involved in Food Inc. and I have heard him speak on more than one occasion. I heard him interviewed on the radio, and I stopped eating ground beef. I read the book, and I stopped eating all meat. It is very…

Hello Simply_Nicole and Everyone: I've been a vegetarian for the last 10 years. I tried to go vegan once, but I wasn't committed enough to it so it lasted only about nine months. I went back to eating eggs and cheese. The cheese is probably why I need to lose a few pounds! moderation, I am trying to learn moderation!!!…

I lost a lot of water weight and in full disclosure this was over 10 days and not 7, that being said, I am down to 160!!

I love the idea of mini challenges too. I think that I am going to throw in one for myself. Drinking water is a problem for me. I am going to work up to the 8 glasses per day. I am going to commit to 5 per day this week and add another each week. Right now I am around 2 and that is still something that I remind myself to…

I think the part of the problem with the food system is that the problems are systemic and different organization are in charge of different aspects of it. USDA for meat, FDA for other foods, EPA for bottled water are just the top three that come to mind. You are right about the human aspect about it, people make mistakes,…

I was hoping that was the case!!! Congratulations on the results of your hard work!

My advice to you is that it is tempting to use soy meat substitutes, but be careful. It may be ok for the short term, but I would not rely upon it long term. The soy encourages estrogen production, which could make it difficult for you to lose weight and not to scare you but, some men develop breasts from too much soy…

I have to agree with you about the brussel sprouts... yum!
