  • oooh definitely the previously mentioned "to serve man" and I also liked "eye of the beholder" creepy pig faces :)
  • The universe gave me one of these one year. Nothing worse than burying the family pet Christmas morning.
  • My experience with the product has been this: I don't and wouldn't even consider using any of the products that have the stimulant in them. It just seems like a bad idea. I do however use the smartmix as a nutritional supplement in lieu of over the counter vitamins and I have been happy with it. Yes, it looks like swamp…
  • The only way to get over your fear is practice!!! I took a beginning class last summer. I was never a swimmer as kid - hadn't been swimming in 20 years. I could barely make it across the pool without freaking myself out. The instructor's gave me some excellent tips that made it easier, then I just practiced a lot. In the…
  • ooh.... Prince: I wanna be your lover is a good one... more of a make fool out of myself dancing sort of song then a top of my lungs sort of song tho' latest belting out of tune has to be Alicia Keys - girl on FIyah
  • Gene Loves Jezebel/New Order/Echo & the Bunnymen in 1987 Saw it in Berkeley - that WAS a good show. LOVE seeing FISHBONE live too! so fun! The Wolfgang Press - 1991? 1992? for their Queer album tour <--- awesome Paul Weller - First time I saw him 1992? 1993? for his first solo tour. swoon!
  • Your hair texture looks a lot like mine. I like the style that Lorina posted. Really cute. I think it would suit you. I couldn't do it tho'. I can't do bangs. My curls and waves are too tight at my face. When I cut and layer my hair it really curls up. If I condition the heck out if and leave it alone I can get a really…
  • heh heh... I had to look it up good one!
  • I went on to the RunDouble app. I also used it for the C25K and it worked well enough. I thought I would just stay with the same format. I haven't really been as dedicated about working with it tho'. I have been distracted by injury :( and other sports :)
  • Thanks Stephanie: Yes checking out the course is definitely on my to do list. Probably sooner rather than later. There are a couple of hills on the course and I want to find similar slopes around here to practice on. so many different factors are going into this (swimming with people, biking around other, wetsuits, really…
  • I think that the OP really should consider it doing herself a favor too. They are just not well matched. No need to rail or pass judgement on her. Cheers for recognizing the incompatibility before it gets too sticky. Move on.
  • It is comments like this that keep me reading the forums. Someone always says something totally inappropriate, and I am too immature not to giggle. :flowerforyou:
  • whew! I was afraid no one got his joke. good one btw.
  • batlou: thanks for your weekly breakdown. I was wondering about your brick workouts. I noticed that you put running and swimming together. I read somewhere that that is a good combination, because the muscle group variation. But intuitively, I know that biking and running come after one another and you need to be prepared…
  • the sound of people chewing with their mouths open... shudder and wet socks
  • Thanks for the tip. I just found a MEETUP group that is forming in the next town over. They have a run scheduled at the beginning of January. Looks like there are quite a few people with previous races in the group. It should help. THANK YOU!!!
  • I think that I would love a coach. I respond well to "peer pressure." I am certain that it would help my performance as well as help me through the confusion of figuring out what I am doing. Unfortunately, finances are a little tight right now, so it is not an immediate option. :frown: I appreciate the input, tho' Thanks!…
  • THIS was my experience. I also appreciate the reminder that not all veg. protein has to include soy. Great post.
  • Aw! thanks Tash! :flowerforyou: It is amazing what you can learn between your peers and the experts on the internet machine!
  • It is possible that you need to slow down. This is my experience: I tried C25K a couple of times and failed before I figured it out. I usually would fail around week 3 or 4. I think that I felt that I had been running a while, so I started to pick up the pace and an just would end up with sore knees that made me unable to…
  • Thanks everyone! Very helpful tips. Not sure about a coach just yet. Do you think it would be helpful even if my goal is really just finishing and not being awesome... well, finishing would be awesome for me so strike THAT part, but do you know what I mean?
  • Well, it starts off with 1.5 miles, but jumps down to .9 miles the second week. I was thinking about looking at the % change between the weeks in the BT plan and just apply that to the "base" that I already have. I want to keep with the intent of the program (building and recovery, etc. in the appropriate weeks,) but I…
  • oooh! great advice Scott. I will file that away for the NEXT race. This one I suspect finishing will be enough of a challenge.
  • Thanks Vtate! I like the idea of always adding a mile after the bike ride, regardless of what plan I am doing. I was interested in following a plan mostly because there is a disconnect between what I think I can do and what my body can actually do. and I don't want to hurt myself. :) I found that the C25K program helped me…
  • Thanks Drudoo! It seems like a really good site. A little overwhelming at first tho'. I tend to think that anything new and worth pursuing usually is, so it must be the right place.
  • Maddy, how did you do it without a training plan? oh wait, I forgot you're bada$$ :)
  • Hi Joy! I am training for a Sprint. I am currently running 4 miles three days a week. The plan doesn't hit 4 miles until week 13, so it just seems like a "waste" to have worked up to 4 miles and then cruise for 13 weeks. You could be right about the recovery. It is hard to say without having much experience with biking.…
  • MFP doesn't list it in the calorie count database
