Forget "dieting". Don't think about what you CANT have. Focus on eating food that nourishes your body. The quality of your calories will affect your weight loss more than we all like to believe. 300 calories of cake is no where near as easy to work off or useful to your body than a 300 calorie snack of fruit slices, cheese…

It takes nothing for me to get irregular. Usually, I can tie my issues to lack of water. Also my two foods I use to get my digestion going is oatmeal (a little sugar for flavor but not a whole lot) and greek yogurt. Normally either of these and a cup of coffee will get things going. But Water is the big thing.

I would suggest not grazing (a few fries here and there for example). It is really hard to keep up with how much you have truly consumed when you are just grabbing a little something every once in a while. In no time you will consume 400- 500 calories and never feel fully satisfied. I would stick to eating strictly on my…

It depends on how many carbs he is talking about. If you eat a diet that consists of lean protein (chicken breasts, fish, eggs) and a lot of green veggies this can be done. I eat a low carb, low fat in the sense that I cut out "filler" carbs (btw that is my terminology) like pasta, rice, white potatoes, bread. Essentially…

The obvious answer is upping your calorie intake with quality calories. However, have you ever thought that your body may have some hormone imbalance like thyroid issues. I know a girl with Hyper(?)- thyroidism and she struggle to keep weight on. Not to scare you, but if it continues to be a challenge, you may want to get…

if you are getting light headed, you may have blood sugar issues. I'm not saying that to scare you. I would suggest a snack that includes healthy carbs/ sugar and protein. Like apple slices and peanut butter or cheese, veggie sticks with cheese or hummus, deli meat slices with whole wheat tortilla, fruit and greek yogurt…

I know there is the argument that it is a game show and that we aren't being kind to Rachel. More or less we didn't want her to be fat but we are critical when she gets skinny. She can't win for losing. All I can say is this is a show about getting healthy and getting your life back. I commend Rach for working so hard to…

5'7 lowest weight was 168, goal is 165 and currently 177. I'm in for the support. Like I said on my status this morning, I am going to remember that I lost a total of 31 lbs over a 6 month period by eating balanced and exercising. It is not going to come off over night, but one day, one bite and one mile at a time it will…

I am not sure how low carb you would like to go. May I suggest this basic rule? All carbs are not bad. Stay away from complex white carbs- white potatoes, white rice, pasta, refined sugars... There are plenty of natural carbs that are great for your body. Limit your intake of breads, potatoes, pasta and other grains, but…

Like everyone has stated if your body feels it is starving it will stop having a period for self preservation. Though I am not accusing you of an eating disorder, I had a roommate in college who was anorexic and she stopped having a period. Also, I will try to offer a little peace of mind in that, sometimes when you are…

If you don't think it is bad for you... here are some facts that may make it seem a little less appealing. Carbonation can stretch your stomach which makes more room for food and you may overeat. So it potentially can be related to being overweight or to weight gain. Carbonation also affects the body's ability to absorb…

There are lots of good and terrible theories here. What I have found in my life of yo-yo dieting and then finally switching to focusing on a doable lifestyle. EVERYBODY is different. If it isn't working, it is time to change it. 1. She is older and therefore her hormones are different from us 20/ 30 something whipper…

I've yet to read everyone else's replies. So forgive me if I am repeating other sentiments. I am from a meat and taters kind of family. It is hard to get people to be adventurous, especially since you are under their roof. And that too, I can relate. I moved in with my folks for two years after college, My only "win" was…

AND.... one of my favorites is a "Power Bomb Burrito". Honey Wheat Wrap Nut butter of Choice (peanut, almond, cashew, sunflower, nutella) Banana sliced length wise raisins HONEY layer butter, raisins, banana and drizzle with honey. Wrap like a burrito to keep stuff from dripping out the bottom. It's one of my favorite…

Also, have you considered making some trail mixes? Then you can assure she is getting protein and other nutrients by making a fun mix of foods. Dried fruit, nuts, semi-sweet choc. chips, granola... Also wraps might be more appealing than bread. Take a small tortilla, sliced turkey or ham, cheese, lettuce and whatever else…

Through out my life, my mom would take whatever chicken she had (skin or no skin truly whatever) put it in the crockpot cover with a jar or two of store bought spaghetti sauce (we used cheap Del Monte or Hunts) and if she was feeling really frisky she would add diced onion and bellpepper. Do this in the morning, cook on…

Having just dated a guy for a while who loved food and always wanted to go out for doughnuts or ice cream, I can sympathize your situation. I encourage you to take this time as a new lesson in lifestyle. I think you are absolutely correct that dates do not always have to revolve around food. However you shouldn't hamper…
